Chapter 64: Search for Isabel (2)

The first stage of chaos? I can’t remember if that’s something I’ve heard much about since beginning this journey. I know that the goddess of death will bring the end of the world if she’s resurrected but I can’t remember anything else.

"The first stage of chaos?" Artemis questions with a bit of confusion in his voice.

I’m hoping she’ll be able to enlighten me a bit more on the this first stage of chaos that she’s talking about here. I’ve never heard of it to begin with so this is going to be something.

The girl lets out a sigh before speaking. "The first stage of chaos... It’s not something I think I can explain to you right now. Maybe once Isabel is away from here then it’s possible." The girl responds.

She didn’t say much more after that since time was of the essence for them, Isabel needed to be found before anything happens to her.

It didn’t matter how strong she could be since there was the concern about it to begin with. If her own people are worried about it then why wouldn’t Artemis worry about it too.

She quickly brought him back out to where he was and disappeared within seconds of dropping him off. He was back in the alley way from before.

Isabel can’t be killed or else the first stage will begin so I guess the search is even more dire than I previously expected. I’ll have to do this with haste or else I could risk someone finding her before me.

Who else would possibly target her besides us though? I haven’t really noticed anyone else fighting against them in this continent since we’ve arrived.

Probably better to worry about that problem later... I’ll just focus on finding her and deal with the rest of it later. "Let’s utilize our speed." The girls voice whispers in his ear.

Yeah I should use my speed to try to look for her a bit faster, maybe get some climbing in as well. It looks like there’s plenty of rooftops for me to run across for a better view of everything.

I might be able to spot someone amongst the crowd if I’m smart about it. I’ve never really done much climbing in my past life that I can remember.

Yet alone running across rooftops without falling off in some way. "I’ll share some knowledge with you to make this easier." The girl says.

A flood of knowledge pours into his mind as he is granted with the ability to run across the rooftops and to climb without any issues. (Parkour as one would refer to it.)

He scales up the building with ease after the flood of knowledge stops going into his mind. No one seems to notice that he scaled up the buildings but now he could see most of the people in the streets.

I still don’t know exactly who I’m looking for here yet since I didn’t think about asking the woman about Isabel. I’ve got no clue what she looks like or what to search for here.

People are all over the streets and multiple types of races are all scattered amongst them too.

A woman with long blue hair extending past her shoulders, wearing a mix of black and gold armor with some sort of black robe over tope of it catches his eye. Bingo, that has to be her right? I don’t see anyone else dressed in that same manner around here.

A lot of people seem to be in casual clothes compared to the girl down there so this might not be so bad after all.

Artemis runs across a few of the rooftops while slowly making his way towards the girl he spotted below. She doesn’t seem to notice him yet so he’s got the advantage for now.

He utilizes his shadows to get down from the rooftops in an instant as he appears a few feet behind the girl. I’m not that far behind so if this is her then I’ll have to figure out how to approach her without making a scene.

I didn’t think too far ahead about how I’d handle the situation when I found her so this is going to be quite interesting. She’s probably going to think I’m a weirdo or something.

Does that even matter? Why am I focusing on those kinds of thoughts.

No one seems to be noticing much about Artemis pursuing the girl even though it looks a bit odd. But it doesn’t take him long to catch up to her as he makes his way.

He taps her shoulder to get her attention and she quickly turns around, her blue eyes matching her hair locked onto him almost immediately. "Do I know you or something?" She asks with a bit of a confused expression across her face.

What would the best response be at this time when I don’t even know if she’s the person I’m looking for?

"It’s not that you know me but I think you might be a target of assassination." Artemis responds with a bit of nervousness in his voice.

I’m just going to freak her out more if I can’t even give a confident answer to her. "How would you know? Do you know my name?" She asks with a bit of an annoyed tone to her voice.

I don’t know how to get myself into a better spot with this situation, how do I get through this?

"Isabel?" He answers as he feels the anxiety rising within him.

She just kind of stares at him with a blank expression across her face. "I don’t know how you know my name but who would want to kill me?" Isabel asks with a bit of a monotone voice.

I’ve found the right person with luck on my side this time around so now I’ve just got to convince her to come with me. I’d love to kill one of the leaders of this damn cult right now but I don’t want to deal with the repercussions of breaking my promise.
