Chapter 91: Treating Someone Like a Beggar?

Chapter 91: Chapter 91: Treating Someone Like a Beggar?

"I’m not very familiar with them, so let’s skip dinner."

Unless Bella Green was out of her mind, she’d never drag the old Mrs. Bennett to have a meal with this bunch...

However, her repeated refusals made Francesca Willis’s face completely drop, her gentle expression vanished like a conjurer’s trick without a trace.

"Do you even have any manners? If I tell you to invite them, you invite them. Why all the talk? You’re fed and housed every day, and when I ask you to do something, you keep shirking it."

The familiar scolding made Bella Green chuckle despite herself, the curve of her lips thin and sorrowful.

"So, you want me to invite them not to thank them for taking care of me, huh?" Bella Green said with a smile.

Hearing this, Francesca Willis’s face looked a bit ugly, although Bella was telling the truth, being exposed like that was still unpleasant.

With her face lost, Francesca Willis couldn’t keep up the facade anymore and ripped into her directly.

"I’m telling you, you must invite them, whether you want to or not." Francesca Willis said harshly, and then, fearing she was pushing too hard and Bella Green might rebel, lowered her voice to continue persuading.

"You’re young and don’t understand. That old lady is no ordinary person. If our family can get connected with her, the Green Family might go up another level. For the sake of the family, you have to invite her." Francesca Willis insisted earnestly.

"The better the Green Family does, the better it is for you, understand?" Francesca Willis continued, taking out a shopping card from her pocket and stuffing it into Bella Green’s hand.

"Here’s a few thousand on this card. Go to the mall and buy whatever you like. If you manage to invite the old lady over, I’ll give you more pocket money every month, okay?"

Looking at the card in her hand, a hint of mockery flashed in Bella Green’s eyes—a shopping card worth a few thousand...

Anna Green’s outfit alone costs more than just a few thousand, doesn’t it?

And this shopping card is worth just two or three thousand, really... like tossing scraps for a beggar?

"Well, in that case, I’ll go ask her." Bella Green reluctantly agreed.

Hearing this, Francesca Willis’s eyes instantly lit up, and she gleefully grabbed Bella’s hand, affectionately over the top.

"That’s more like it. Also, next time you meet that elder, remember to go with your sister. You’re young and might not know what to say, so it’s better to have your sister there, to avoid offending them, alright?"

Bella Green found it amusing and figured it was all about paving the way for Anna Green. Hoping she could please the old lady and edge herself out?

No wonder Anna Green didn’t make a fuss about her not returning home at night; she was waiting for this.

Bella Green had been preoccupied with Mason Bennett, focusing on how to deal with him and hadn’t had the chance to worry about Anna Green.

"Understood." Bella Green obediently replied.

Hearing this, Francesca Willis was even happier, beaming from ear to ear: "Good, good, make sure to get this done as soon as possible. Mom is waiting for your news."

With that, she left, beaming.

As Francesca Willis disappeared past the door, Bella Green’s smile faded away.

No guessing needed to know that she surely went to Anna Green’s room to share the good news.

Bella Green fiddled with the card in her hand, sneered, and tossed it aside.

Her gaze landed on the almond cookies nearby; her eyes turned cold as she picked one up and examined it.

Beautifully crafted, the scent was lovely too.

It was the first time her mother had made her this kind of treat, yet it was the one she couldn’t eat.

After a moment, she pinched the piece of almond cookie and brought it to her mouth...
