Rebirth to take revenge
Chapter 159: Mayor

Chapter 159: Mayor

Seeing the murderous intent in Alex’s eyes, Simon panicked and said hurriedly, "You just wait for me. I’ll go tell my dad right away."

With that, he turned and ran off.

Watching him flee, Alex smiled coldly. "Foolish enough not to know life from death."

"Young master, the necklace you wanted," one of the bodyguards said to Leander respectfully.

Leander took the box from the man, carefully examining the necklace. Although he didn’t typically like flashy jewelry, he really wanted this necklace. After all, it was for his mother, and he didn’t want her to be disappointed.

"Thank you," Leander said gratefully, looking up at the bodyguard.

The bodyguard shook his head. "Master, this is our duty." With that, the bodyguard stepped away.

Seeing this, Leander ran out of the shop with the necklace in his hand, searching for Claire.

"Mom! Mom! Look at the gift Leander got for you!"

Hearing this, Claire hurried out and saw Leander’s excited expression.

"Hee Hee, what is this?" Claire asked, looking at the necklace with curiosity.

"Mom, this is the necklace I picked for you. Take a look. Isn’t it beautiful?" Leander handed the necklace to Claire like a prized offering.

"This is a diamond necklace?" Claire stared at it in surprise. "Wow, it’s so beautiful. Absolutely stunning!"

"Does Mom like it?"

"I love it! Leander, you really understand what Mom wants." Claire gently touched Leander’s head and then kissed his forehead.

Seeing this, Leander felt warmth in his heart and hugged Claire with a smile.

"Mom, I picked this necklace for you, but it’s a gift from Dad. Dad loves you very much. He even said he only loves one woman in his life—you!"

Claire’s heart warmed at Leander’s words, and she couldn’t help but smile.

Seeing her smile, Leander waved his little hand enthusiastically. "Mom laughed! See? I’m the best at making Mom happy!"

"Mmm, our Leander is amazing!" Claire praised.

"Of course, I’m Daddy and Mommy’s little angel," Leander said proudly.

Hearing Leander’s words, Claire’s heart was filled with tenderness. She touched Leander’s head and said, "Yes, Leander is Mommy’s most well-behaved little angel!"

"Oh, by the way, Dad, who was that annoying man? He said his dad is the mayor. Will he cause trouble for us?" Leander worriedly asked.

"Don’t worry, Dad has taken care of it. There won’t be any problems," Alex reassured him.

Leander breathed a sigh of relief, and a naive, innocent smile appeared on his face. Claire saw her son’s smile and felt even more tender-hearted. She squatted down, pinched Leander’s cheeks, and said, "Silly boy, how could Mommy bear to let you suffer?"

"Mommy." Leander felt his heart fill up with warmth and comfort.

"Okay, it’s getting late. Let’s go home," Claire said, taking Leander’s hand and walking out.

Back at home, Leander immediately ran into his room. Claire watched him with a smile of satisfaction on her face. "He’s becoming more and more like me when I was a child." Thinking of the scene just now, Claire’s heart was filled with warmth.

Alex followed behind and heard Claire’s words. He couldn’t help but smile and said, "You look just like you did when you were a child now."

Upon hearing Alex’s words, Claire turned around and looked at him, her eyes becoming teary.

She walked up to Alex, hugged his neck, and he stiffened for a moment. However, he quickly regained his composure and hugged her back. Claire rested her head on Alex’s shoulder, and the two of them embraced each other silently without saying a word.

Leander came out of the room and saw his parents embracing. He stood at the door, stunned, with a look of confusion on his face.

Why was Mom hugging Dad? Could it be that Mom has fallen in love with Dad?

Leander blinked, then turned and ran away.

Seeing Leander’s retreating figure, Claire quickly pushed away from Alex.

"Why did you suddenly hug me?"

"You..."

Before Alex could finish his sentence, Claire glared at him and then ran upstairs.

Alex shook his head helplessly and walked to the dining table, where he found Leander already sitting in his chair, eating.

Seeing this, Alex smiled and sat down next to Leander.

"Why don’t you eat more, Leander? Today’s dishes are all your favorites."

"I know, Dad," Leander calmly picked up a piece of braised pork and put it in his mouth.

Although Leander was mischievous on weekdays, he also knew the importance of behaving and would not intentionally provoke Alex. His eating movements were elegant and refined, as if every move carried nobility. Looking at his son, Alex’s face showed a happy smile.

His eyes were gentle and profound, like the vast starry sky. He lowered his head to eat, stealing a glance at Leander from the corner of his eye. He found that he was increasingly fond of his son and wished to offer all the good things to Leander.

Claire walked into the living room and saw Leander eating. A warm feeling surged in her heart. She sat on the sofa with her legs crossed, looking at the TV screen but unable to concentrate. Claire’s thoughts were all focused on Leander.

Leander noticed her gaze and stopped eating. "Mom, why have you been staring at me? Are you checking out how handsome I am?"

Claire chuckled. "Narcissist."

"Then why have you been staring at me? Is it because I’m so good-looking you can’t take your eyes off me?" Leander widened his eyes, looking at Claire seriously, eagerly waiting for her answer.

Claire couldn’t help but roll her eyes. She picked up the remote control and turned off the TV.

"Okay, let’s eat!" Claire said, picking up a piece of fish and putting it in Leander’s bowl.

"Mm."

"By the way, Leander, you’re at the age where you should choose a kindergarten, right?"

Hearing Claire’s words, Leander looked up and stared at her seriously.

"Mom, are you saying I’m not smart?"

"How could that be?" Claire immediately explained.

"Then why are you asking me this question?"

Leander furrowed his brow in confusion.

Looking at her son’s expression, Claire’s heart was filled with warmth. She reached out and ruffled Leander’s hair.

"Mom just thinks that at your age, you should have your own little circle. It’s too lonely to always live with Mom. You should have some same-aged friends."

Leander said thoughtfully, "But I don’t like being friends with same-aged kids. They’re all too stupid."

"Mom doesn’t need you to be friends with them—just hopes that you can grow up happily."

"I don’t want Mom to worry about my studies, so I’ve decided to go to college!"

Leander said firmly.

Claire was speechless and shocked.

"You plan to go to college?"

Leander nodded and said.

"I is all grown up now and can take care of myself...

The media had gathered for tonight’s grand ceremony celebrating Simon’s acquisition of the City A Corporation. Such a grand banquet would naturally not be missed. The most famous entertainment newspaper in the City had sent several reporters, eager for special interviews with Simon.

Simon, the 25-year-old son of the Hans family family, had just graduated this year. Acquiring the Phillips Corporation was merely a gift for him.

Walking through the streets, Simon was surrounded by several uniformed, bespectacled bodyguards. A group of reporters crowded around him, firing off questions:

"Mr. Hans, do you have any ulterior motives for acquiring the Phillips Corporation?"

"Mr. Hans, I heard your fiancée is considered the most beautiful woman in the City. Can you tell us when the engagement is?"

"Mr. Hans, people say you and your fiancée are a perfect match. What do you think?"

Simon pursed his lips tightly, his sunglasses masking his growing displeasure.

Despite usually being high-profile, today’s events forced him to avoid the media. Ignoring the flood of questions, Simon walked straight to the CEO’s exclusive elevator.

Seeing him leave, the reporters tactfully retreated. Once the elevator doors closed, a group of black-clad men emerged and blocked the reporters.

Sitting in the elevator, Simon’s eyes flashed with cold determination. He clenched his fists, anger seething within him.

Damn it. That guy Alex dared to lay a hand on him!

He dialed a number. "Hey, Dad, where are you?"

Tom, on the other end, frowned. "I’m at the company. Did you cause trouble again?"

"No!" he replied impatiently. "I’m coming to find you. Which floor are you on?"

"What are you doing on the top floor?" Mr. Hans became alert. His son, spoiled from a young age, never considered consequences. Something must have happened.

"Don’t worry, Dad. I’ll meet you where no one can see us."

"Fine. But don’t say anything foolish," Tom warned.

Simon hung up, a wicked smile playing on his lips. Alex, just wait. This time, you won’t be able to hold on.

When the elevator door opened, bodyguards immediately blocked the reporters. Simon headed straight to Tom’s office.

"Knock, knock."

A suited man opened the door. Seeing Simon, he ushered him in.
