Rebirth to take revenge
Chapter 121: Favour

Chapter 121: Favour

Anna clenched her fists, her eyes filled with determination. She immediately changed into a set of sportswear, picked up her bag, and left the house.

Half an hour later, Anna arrived at the abandoned factory. She pushed open the door and looked around but couldn’t see any trace of Cole. She couldn’t help but furrow her brows.

Didn’t Cole say he was waiting for her here? Why is he nowhere to be found? Could it be that he’s playing a trick on her?

Thinking of this, Anna’s face filled with anger. Just as she was about to leave, a cold voice came, "If you want to save the Smith family, just stay put and don’t move."

Anna turned her head and saw that Cole had appeared at some point, sitting at a wooden table drinking tea. She immediately breathed a sigh of relief.

Now that he’s back, there’s still a chance to salvage the situation.

Anna took a deep breath and calmed herself down. Then, she walked over to the table and sat down. She picked up the teacup, took a sip of tea, and said, "What do you want me to do?"

Cole put down his teacup, looked up, and his sharp gaze fell on Anna.

"What are you looking at? Speak up!" Anna stared back at Cole without showing any weakness.

Cole narrowed his eyes and said, "If you want to save the Smith family, you need to cooperate honestly."

Anna rolled her eyes. This guy really thought highly of himself.

"Well, tell me then, how can you save the Smith family?" she sneered.

Cole didn’t say anything. He took out a box from his pocket and opened it. A black pill lay quietly inside.

Seeing the pill, Anna’s breathing became rapid and her eyes lit up. Judging from the appearance of the pill, it should be some kind of legendary internal cultivation pill. Cole’s mysterious skills must have been cultivated after taking this pill.

Now, he was giving this pill to her. Did that mean he considered her one of his own?

Thinking of this, Anna became overjoyed.

"Eat it, and I’ll tell you how to save the Smith family," Cole said indifferently.

Anna stared at the pill, swallowed her saliva, and said, "I’ll eat it. Anyway, I won’t die from it."

After speaking, Anna didn’t hesitate and swallowed the pill in one gulp. She waited eagerly for the result. Unfortunately, she was disappointed.

Cole looked at her expressionlessly and shook his head.

"It’s ineffective."

Anna widened her eyes, looking confused. She stared at Cole in disbelief and asked, "Are you kidding me?"

"No, this pill really has no effect," Cole affirmed.

Anna was dumbfounded and muttered to herself, "It’s impossible, absolutely impossible!"

Cole said, "There’s nothing impossible. This is just an ordinary pill with no special effects."

Hearing this, Anna almost...

"Sorry..."

Alex was taken aback. He lowered his head and looked at the petite and slender Claire in his arms. "What’s wrong?" he asked with concern as he reached out, stroked Claire’s hair, and pulled her closer.

"I know you don’t like Jack, but I still invited him to the house," Claire said, leaning on Alex’s chest. "You must be annoyed."

"It’s okay," Alex shook his head. "Don’t worry, I won’t blame you."

Claire raised her head and looked at Alex’s handsome face, feeling warmth surge through her heart. "I’m not afraid of you."

"That’s good," Alex’s lips curled into a doting smile. "I’m just worried you might not want to."

A sweet smile appeared on Claire’s face. "Silly," Alex said, reaching out to lightly scratch the tip of her nose. "When did Jack say he would come?"

"I rejected him so he wouldn’t be suspicious. He’ll probably make an appointment with me soon," Claire replied.

"Good," Alex nodded with a smile.

The two exchanged a few more words and then headed to their rooms to rest.

The next day, Jack called again, and Claire answered.

"Claire, I’ve been busy with work today and forgot to contact you," Jack’s voice sounded on the line, immediately reminding Claire of their conversation the night before. Jack was trying to show weakness, hoping she’d let him off easy.

"How’s your health?" Claire asked.

"It’s very bad. If you don’t help, your uncle’s time is limited!" Jack’s gentle voice came through.

"Okay," Claire responded.

"Thank you, Claire," Jack smiled.

"You don’t have to thank me. After all, we’re partners, and we should help each other," Claire said, pausing before continuing, "But still no news about Cole?"

"Claire, I’ve already sent someone to search for him," Jack said.

"Alright, thank you for your effort," Claire replied.

"Claire, I heard Alex is on a business trip. You mustn’t tell him about this," Jack cautioned.

"Okay, I won’t."

"Alright then. I’ll come over later."

"Okay, see you soon."

After hanging up, Claire’s face grew serious. She stared out the window, her mind racing, hesitating about what to do next.

"Ding Dong." The doorbell rang. Claire opened the door to find Jack standing there, holding a gift and smiling.

"Claire, I just bought some supplements from the Western Medical Clinic and came to deliver them to you," Jack said, handing her the package.

Claire reached out to take it. "Thank you."

"Come on, no need to thank me" Jack smiled. "I know you’ve been busy with work lately, so I bought some supplements."

Claire nodded. "Come inside first."

"Okay, Claire, let’s sit and talk."

Anna pursed her red lips, feeling humiliated.

"Fine, I promise you," she gritted her teeth.

Alex raised an eyebrow, his smile becoming even more wicked.

"Those who know the times are wise."

Anna lowered her eyes, hiding her unwillingness. She knew she couldn’t compete with Alex. He had power and money.

Now that Mariah had died, she was alone. What could she use to fight against Alex?

The only thing she could rely on was herself.

Alex didn’t pay any more attention to Anna. He turned and entered the carriage, driving away in his black Bentley. The sound of the wheels rubbing against the asphalt echoed through the air.

Anna stood there, dazed, tears welling up in her eyes. After a long while, she wiped away her tears, turned around, and walked toward another street.

She had to find Claire; otherwise, she would be facing a dead end. Judging from Alex’s attitude, he was only sparing her for Claire’s sake. If she wanted to survive, she had to meet Claire as soon as possible and find an opportunity.

Kill her!

Only then could Anna survive!

Anna clenched her fists and silently vowed that if she had the chance, she would definitely kill Claire and avenge her mother.

At this moment, in the bedroom of the Miller family, Claire sat by the bed, looking at Leander, who was still unconscious, feeling heartbroken.

Knock, knock, knock.

The door was knocked. Claire glanced to the side.

Then, a maid came in with a tray of food. Claire took the tray and placed the food on the table. Approaching the sickbed, she sat next to Leander and softly called out, "Leander, it’s time for dinner."

Leander remained lying on the bed, motionless.

Claire frowned, sighed helplessly, and shook her head. She took a spoon and fed Leander.

Leander slowly woke up and softly called out, "Mom..."

Upon hearing this, Claire showed a look of joy. She quickly handed the bowl to Leander, gently stroked his cheek, and said, "Leander, you finally woke up."

Leander held the spoon and ate a few mouthfuls of rice.

"Mom, I’m so thirsty," Leander weakly said.

Claire was taken aback for a moment and quickly ordered someone to bring water.

After a moment, hot water was brought in. Leander took the cup and drank it all in one go.

He looked at Claire and weakly said, "Thank you, Mom."

"Silly child," Claire smiled gently, "You are Mom’s favorite."

"Leander," Claire hesitated, looking at Leander with a complicated expression.

Leander asked in confusion, "Mom, is there something on your mind?"

After hesitating for a while, Claire said, "Leander, I’m really sorry that you had to go through this. It’s Mom’s fault for not taking good care of you."

After speaking, Claire couldn’t help but cry.

Leander looked at Claire’s sad expression and immediately comforted her, "Mom, don’t cry. I don’t blame you."

Claire choked back her tears and forced a smile.

"I’m sorry, Leander..." Claire sobbed.

Seeing this, Leander quickly helped Claire wipe away her tears and said, "Mom, don’t cry. If you cry, Dad won’t want you anymore."

Claire burst into laughter through her tears.

"You," she pinched Leander’s nose and scolded, "you always talk nonsense."

"Hehe," Leander grinned, looking extremely cute.

"Leander, I’m sorry for making you suffer these days. Don’t worry, Mom won’t let you suffer like this again in the future," Claire said firmly.

Upon hearing this, Leander’s smile disappeared, and he looked at Claire seriously, saying, "Mom, w ill you promise me something?"

"Hmm?" Claire was surprised.

Leander said, "I hope that in the future, whenever I get sick or face danger, you and Dad will be by my side. Can you do that?"
