Rebirth to take revenge
Chapter 109: Going back home

Chapter 109: Going back home

Leander nodded, rubbing his belly. He then looked at Nelson and asked, "Uncle Nelson, what’s for dinner?"

Nelson quickly pulled himself together, a bright smile spreading across his face. "We’ll have all of Leander’s favorite dishes!" he said cheerfully.

Leander clapped his hands happily, but his next sentence made Nelson’s smile falter. "Father, let’s eat together, too. Uncle Nelson’s chef is amazing, and Leander loves his food!"

Alex grinned. "Well, Dad would love to try some of that delicious cooking too."

Hearing this, Nelson felt as though a knife had twisted in his heart. His pleading gaze fell on Leander, but the little boy didn’t seem to notice, staring intently at Alex.

Alex looked down at Leander, then glanced at Nelson, and finally smiled. "Alright."

Nelson’s smile froze, his eyes filled with embarrassment. He glanced towards Claire’s room and asked, "Leander, should we tell your mother about this?"

Leander shook his head. "No need."

Nelson looked at him with concern. "But what if your mother gets angry?"

Leander blinked his big eyes and said, "This is Uncle Nelson’s house, so Uncle Nelson makes the decisions. Besides, this is a small matter. Mom won’t mind. Does Uncle Nelson need to consult Mom for such a little thing?"

Nelson’s heart ached at Leander’s innocent question. He forced a bitter smile and said, "In that case, let’s stay for dinner, Mr. Miller."

Alex smiled but said nothing more. He knew Nelson wasn’t happy, but he had no intention of leaving. In fact, from the moment he arrived, he hadn’t planned on leaving.

Inside the dining room, the large table was filled with an array of delicious dishes. Leander held Claire’s hand as they walked out of the bedroom. Seeing this, Nelson pulled out the chair next to him and invited Claire to sit down.

Claire nodded slightly, her face looking dejected, her eyes red and swollen, showing clear signs of trouble. Nelson looked at her with concern and asked softly, "What happened?"

Claire shook her head and remained silent. Nelson didn’t ask any further and placed Claire’s favorite chicken wings in front of her, saying, "Eat something you like; it will make you feel better."

A warm feeling flowed through Claire’s heart, and she forced a smile at Nelson, saying, "Thank you." Alex watched their interaction with tightly pursed lips. Then, he pulled out the chair on the other side of Claire and elegantly sat down.

Claire was stunned and turned to look at him, subconsciously asking, "Why haven’t you left yet?"

Upon hearing this, Nelson’s lips curled into a mocking smile, watching Alex like a spectator. However, Alex’s expression remained unchanged. He elegantly picked up the wine glass, poured himself a glass of red wine, and swayed it while saying, "I won’t leave until your safety and Leander’s safety are confirmed. Besides, it’s Leander’s kind invitation; how could I refuse?"

Upon hearing this, Claire leaned back and looked at Leander, who was sitting next to Alex, raising her eyebrows lightly. Leander felt Claire’s gaze on him, and his small body stiffened. He looked back at her pitifully and said in a childish voice, "Leander wants to have dinner with Daddy."

Seeing him like this, Claire didn’t know what to say, so she sighed lightly and said, "Let’s eat."

Nelson looked a little disappointed and pursed his lips, his eyes still full of hostility toward Alex. Sitting between two tense men, Claire felt very uncomfortable. She ate her food with her head down, hoping that this dinner would end soon.

At that moment, Alex’s voice suddenly sounded, "I heard that this is Mr. Nelson’s house. Does that mean you and Leander are just staying here temporarily?"

Claire looked up and nodded slightly, "Yes."

As soon as she finished speaking, Nelson’s voice sounded beside her, "Although it’s my house, as long as Claire needs it, I can transfer it to her at any time."

Claire’s heart trembled when she heard this. "Nelson..."

Nelson ignored her and just stared at Alex, his voice turning cold, "Claire and Leander’s safety doesn’t need your concern. They will be the safest here."

However, Alex shook his head. "I am their husband and father in name. Even if it’s a gift, it should be from me."

Nelson’s eyes narrowed, and his voice suddenly became icy. "They don’t need anyone’s charity, especially not from a stranger like you!"

Alex turned his head and met their gaze without flinching. "Your location has been exposed, and they may come back at any time," he said. "Leaving them here would put them in danger." Claire and Nelson’s eyes sank at the same time. He was right. Mariah knew where they lived, and they couldn’t just sit and wait for her to strike. The house they were in was not safe enough.

Seeing that they didn’t say anything, Alex’s lips curled up as he looked at Claire and said, "Come home with me."

"No!" Nelson refused without hesitation. "What identity will Claire and Leander have if they go back with you? Living with you without any status or identity? Alex, you’re being unrealistic!"

After speaking, Nelson looked at Claire, and his voice softened. "Claire, don’t worry. I have many other houses. I’ll find a safer place for you and your son tonight."

As soon as he finished speaking, Alex coldly refused, "No. Claire and I are married. How can we have no status or identity? It’s you, Nelson, who has no status or identity. What kind of identity are you going to use to protect Claire and Leander? If this gets out, it won’t be good for you or Claire. Besides, Claire and I have already registered our marriage. I have enough responsibility to take care of them. You don’t have to worry about this, Nelson."

"Alright, stop arguing!" Claire said before Nelson could raise any objections.

"I’ll go rent a place to live by myself..."

However, her words were immediately rejected by the two men beside her, who said in unison, "No way!"

Claire was taken aback, her beautiful eyes filled with anger. But Alex said, "Now you and Leander are targets, and they will try everything to get rid of you. You must have someone to protect you. Come home with me."

Nelson also said anxiously, "Claire, don’t be foolish. I’m worried about you and Leander. I won’t let you and Leander be in danger, no matter what my identity is," Nelson added coldly, looking at Alex.

"Alright, Nelson, that’s enough," Claire interrupted. "You’ve done enough for us. Thank you, Nelson. This time, let me and Alex go back alone."

"Claire!" Nelson quickly stood up and reached out to grab Claire’s arm, but Alex was quicker and pulled Claire into his arms, saying, "Nelson, please respect Claire’s decision."

"I will be responsible for all of this."

"Why are you responsible?"

Hearing his words, Nelson became angry and said, "What right do you have to fight with me?"

Alex said coldly, "Because I am Claire’s husband, I have every qualification!"

"Husband? Claire was kidnapped because of you before!"

"Alex, I’ve already given you a chance, but you couldn’t grasp it yourself!"

"I will never give you a second chance, let alone let you take Claire away!" Nelson’s tone was extremely firm, leaving no room for negotiation.

Hearing this, Alex’s eyes narrowed, and he said, "If Young Master Nelson is so concerned, why not focus on handling your own affairs well?"

"My family affairs are none of your concern."

"Besides, you shouldn’t be able to stay in Powell anymore, right?"

While speaking, a sneer of satisfaction flashed across Alex’s eyes.

Hearing this sentence, Nelson’s face suddenly darkened. He looked at the man opposite him and asked in a deep voice, "What do you mean?"

"Nothing. It’s just Elder that Mr. Powell may have something to say to you."

Hearing Alex’s words, Nelson’s face became even more grim. "You contacted my grandfather?"

Nelson’s face was gloomy and cold. Seeing his resentment, Alex smiled and said, "Young man, sometimes you have to listen to your elders."

"Master Nelson, you still have a long way to go. Especially now, you shouldn’t waste your time with me. Otherwise, you will lose miserably."

Nelson stared at him intensely, his eyes reddened.

Claire looked at the two of them, then at Nelson, and whispered, "Nelson, Alex is right. You’ve stayed in Powell long enough. It’s time to go back."

Nelson glanced at Claire, clenched his teeth, and finally turned to leave the restaurant. When he was gone from the living room, Alex restrained the smile on his face. He looked at Claire and said, "Go and pack your things. I’ll wait for you here."

Claire nodded, turned, and went to the bedroom. Leander, excited, raised his hands and hugged Alex’s leg.

Nelson walked out of the villa, got into the car, and headed straight for the Powell family mansion in the city center. Unexpectedly, Alex had managed to contact old master Powell before arriving. This made him extremely angry. He had originally planned to follow his own course of action, delay for a while, and find a suitable opportunity to take his relationship with Claire further. Unfortunately, it seemed no longer necessary.
