Chapter 64: Meeting Shi Bei
Chapter 64: Chapter 64: Meeting Shi Bei
Yuan Renshu drank glasses of alcohol and became inebriated quickly.
He stood up despite feeling dizzy. His eyes rolled a little as he felt tipsy.
"Be careful, Sir," the bartender exclaimed as he watched Yuan Renshu nearly stumble.
"I am fine," Yuan Renshu waved his hands to reassure him.
Yuan Renshu walked slowly, stumbling with his steps. He nearly fell, but a lady helped to keep him upright.
"Hey, be careful," he was startled to hear from a lady, and he looked up at her in surprise.
The lady reminded him of Xin Yan, not physically, but her attitude and demeanor did.
"Xin Yan," he called out in a low voice.
"I think you mistook me for someone; I am not Xin Yan," the lady countered with a smile.
"If you are not Xin Yan, then who are you?" You look exactly like Xin Yan; she always looked after me and was caring; you have the same characteristics as she did." Yuan Renshu smiled as he attempted to caress her cheeks, but she dodged a bit.
"I see you are drunk, and you have mistook me for someone else," the lady said, pursed her lips and staring at the drunk man.
"I am not drunk," Yuan Renshu burped, and the lady gave a disgusted look.
Because of her compassion, she could only say, "I will get you to a room."
Fortunately, there were rooms in the bar where he could rest.
She also had some sort of connection with the bar, so she was able to get him into a room fairly easily.
She got him into a room with the assistance of one of the waiters.
"Thank you so much," she said, wiping away her sweat.
Before leaving the room, the waiter simply nodded.
The lady sighed as she looked down at Yuan Renshu, who was already asleep. She wondered why she was always this nice.
She was about to leave when Yuan Renshu spoke up.
"Do not leave me, please; I do not have anyone else, and I am sorry for what I have done to you in the past," Yuan Renshu apologized, causing the lady to frown.
Once again, she appears to have been mistaken for someone else.
"I am not Xin Yan," she emphasized as she looked at him; however, he was still sleeping.
"No, you are Xin Yan," Yuan Renshu protested vehemently.
The lady sighed in frustration as she knelt next to his bed. She whispered into his ear, "You have to wake up; I am Shi Bei, not Xin Yan."
"Are you sure you are not Xin Yan?" Yuan Renshu’s eyes widened as he stared at Shi Bei, whose face was close to his.
"That is what I have been trying to tell you, and I am not Xin Yan." Shi Bei was pleased to see him coming to terms with what she had said.
"Oh!" He drew out before falling asleep again.
Shi Bei was completely speechless. He simply dozed off. She wanted to leave, but when she saw his tired face, she decided to stay.
She watched him sleep with his chest rising and falling, and she had to admit he was handsome. She then considered what he had said: what could he have put Xin Yan through? He was willing to apologize to her and was sad; what he had done must have been massive.
She noticed that he was sweating, which could make him uncomfortable, so she decided to help him.
He awoke again while she was undressing and cleaning his body.
The atmosphere froze instantly because he was not expecting to meet her cleaning his body.
"What are you doing?" He inquired with a hoarse voice.
She pursed her lips slightly as she considered whether to tell him or not.
"What are you doing?" He asked once more.
"I noticed you were sweating and it made me uncomfortable, so I decided to clean you up," she replied awkwardly.
"Oh, thank you so much, I can handle myself; you may leave," Yuan Renshu told her, pursed her lips slightly.
Was this an appropriate way to express my gratitude to her? He was certain to get it from her.
"I took care of you, and this is your way of saying thank you?" She lashed out right away, and he looked at her in disbelief.
What exactly was he supposed to say? He would already expressed his gratitude; what more could he say?
"What do I say? I have expressed my gratitude; what else can I say?" He was perplexed when he asked the question.
Her eyebrows furrowed. She had no idea why she was upset about his attitude.
"Never mind, just forget about it; I lashed out for no reason; I will leave you to take care of yourself, and you can leave once you get yourself back together," she said, leaving the room without giving him a chance to respond.
He sighed as he watched her disappear. She reminded him of Xin Yan, which is why he gave her that name.
He held his head down and frowned. He had a splitting headache that was getting worse just thinking about what was going on in his family.
He struggled to stand up from the bed and walk into the bathroom. He took slow steps because he could still feel his head spinning.
After freshening up in the bathroom, he returned to the room and was taken aback to discover Shi Bei was present.
"Good you are here; I brought you some medications and food; you have had too much to drink, so you need some meds," she told him as she cheerfully set the table.
Yuan Renshu grimaced inwardly. He could not help but sigh as memories of his time with Xin Yan came flooding back.
"I know you do not want to hear this, but you remind me of her," Yuan Renshu told her, and she nodded.
"Would you mind telling me what you put her through? You sounded like you have a lot of regrets and things you want to tell her, so tell me what you did to her." Shi Bei inquired, and Yuan Renshu sighed.
"I have done many things that I am not proud of," he said as he took a seat on the bed.
