Chapter 61: Meeting Tang Mei
Chapter 61: Chapter 61: Meeting Tang Mei
Xin Yan, who had no idea she was being plotted against, was sitting in her room while waiting for Li Qiang.
He had gone to get Li Chuxi to sleep.
"You are still awake; I thought you would have gone to bed," Li Qiang said as he walked in.
He became concerned when he noticed her restless expression.
"What is the problem?" She sighed in response to his question. She had not said anything, but he could tell something was wrong with her just by looking at her. That was how much she meant to him.
"Are you concerned about exacting your revenge?" He inquired, and she nodded while pursing her lips.
"Yes, seeing Jiang Lanfen today sparked something in me; I can not stand them, and they must pay for what they have done to me," Xin Yan said calmly, but both of them knew there was a fire in her heart.
"I want to try to forgive them, but I know Jiang Lanfen, I humiliated her today, and there is no way she is going to let that go, so I have to do it before she gets to me," Xin Yan said. This demonstrated how well she knew Jiang Lanfen.
"It is fine, I will support you in whatever you decide to do; if you want to exact revenge, that is fine, and if you don’t, that is fine too; as long as you feel good about it, there is no problem."
"I do not think you need to worry about this too much; go take a bath and rest; your body deserves it," Li Qiang advised, and she nodded before leaving to freshen up.
*Two Weeks After*
It has been two weeks since Xin Yan last saw Jiang Lanfeng. The supermarket was nearing completion.
Li Chuxi had already started school and was making progress. Xin Yan had introduced her as her daughter to her grandparents, who were thrilled.
Xin Yi and Cheng Luiying were also delighted to have her as their niece. Finally, Xin Yi accepted his position as President, and Xin Yan resigned.
Li Chuxi was currently on holiday, so Xin Yan decided to take her shopping.
They had spent so much time together, and Xin Yan was surprised to see so many of her characteristics in Chuxi.
She did not give it much thought. She only wanted to have a strong connection with her daughter.
"Do you think this dress is nice?" Xin Yan inquired as she displayed a dress to Li Chuxi, who shook her head.
"It does not suit you, Mom," Li Chuxi said with a disapproving expression.
"Are you certain?" Xin Yan inquired, frowning as she inspected the dress.
She saw nothing wrong with it, but her daughter detested it.
"Yes, mother," the five-year-old replied.
"But what exactly is wrong with it? Why are you opposed to something that is obviously good?" Xin Yan sighed exasperatedly, holding her forehead.
"Everything is wrong with it; the neckline is too low, and dad would not be happy to see you in such a provocative dress," Li Chuxi pursed her lips as she pointed out the dress’s flaws.
Xin Yan looked at her, taken aback. She looked at the dress again, and she noticed what she had mentioned.
She laughed quietly, her daughter was quite amusing. She did not want anyone else to take her father’s place.
"Alright then, I will not take this dress again," she finally conceded as she hung the dress back on the anger before continuing their shopping.
Xin Yan was drawn to a nice-looking suit and was tempted to buy it for Li Qiang, but she decided against it.
Li Qiang only wore custom-made suits, so she did not need to get one for him.
"If you want to get it for dad, you can get it; I am sure he will be glad you got him something," Li Chuxi said, and Xin Yan looked down at her daughter, completely impressed by her comprehension.
"I will get it," she said confidently as she approached the suit.
The suit was snatched from her grasp as she was about to touch it.
She sighed in disappointment as she looked at Li Chuxi, who simply shook her head in an attempt to console her.
"Oh, if it isn’t Xin Yan?" She heard her name called out, but she could tell the speaker was disgusted.
She lifted her head and looked at the person who had called her name. She was baffled because she had no idea who it was. It was a lady she was unfamiliar with.
"Who are you?" Xin Yan inquired while squinting at her.
The individual looked at Xin Yan, completely perplexed. She was not expecting Xin Yan to not recognize her.
"Do you not recognise me?" The individual inquired, and Xin Yan shook her head negatively.
"You are not acting, are you?" The lady inquired once more, her gaze fixed on Xin Yan.
"I am not, I really do not know you, but you look familiar, as if I have seen you somewhere before, but I do not know you," Xin Yan replied honestly.
"I am Tang Mei, the Tang family’s daughter." The lady who turned out to be Tang Mei, introduced herself.
Xin Yan still had a confused look on her face but once she looked at Tang Mei once more, she was able to recall who she was.
"Oh, it is you, it is been a while since I have seen you, you are looking.....," Xin Yan paused as she looked at the lady, who was both familiar and unfamiliar.
Tang Mei was not the same person she had previously known.
She exhaled a little. She simply confirmed something. Because of the difference between her previous and current behaviors, the trajectory of her future was changing, and she was concerned. She had no idea what the future held for her; all she could do was confront it.
She could tell that Tang Mei felt hatred for as she looked at her and wondered if she had done something wrong.
"Who is she?" Tang Mei frowned when she saw the little girl.
She noticed similarities between this little girl and both Xin Yan and Li Qiang.
