Chapter 50: Chapter 50: Maternal Love 2

Xin Chuxi turned to look at Xin Yan, who nodded in response. She walked obediently into Grandpa Xin’s embrace, who was delighted to have her in his arms.

Two minutes had passed, and the old lady was already becoming concerned. "Old man, will you let her be and not suffocate her with your bear hug, let me at least hug her?" Grandma Xin stomped her feet in annoyance.

Grandpa Xin reluctantly let go of Xin Chuxi due to his wife’s protests.

"Xin Chuxi, would you please give me a hug?" Grandma Xin was more adept and friendly at coaxing children.

Xin Chuxi found it easier to hug her because she smiled, as opposed to Grandpa Xin who frowned.

"Enough with the embraces; Xin Chuxi has not had anything good to eat; shall we have lunch? "I am starving by the way," Xin Yan pouted as she rubbed her stomach, causing Xin Chuxi to laugh.

They had lunch and it was time to talk about her accommodations.

"Let her stay with us; I am not sure if Li Qiang would mind having her in your space, so if it is possible, leave us with her," Grandma Xin advised, and her concerns were not unfounded.

Xin Yan also wanted to agree, but she did not understand why she was so hesitant. She did not want Xin Chuxi to be separated from her, which seemed strange to her.

"Grandma, Xin Chuxi has grown attached to me; it is best for her to stay with me, and as for Li Qiang, I can look after him; would he dare not like such a cute child?" Xin Yan gently pinched Xin Chuxi’s cheeks, and the girl responded with a smile.

When her grandparents looked at her, they could see determination in her gaze. Nobody could deter her once she made up her mind.

All they could do was sigh in defeat.

"Our abode is still open for her; if Li Qiang does not agree to have her in the house, you can still send her over to our place," Grandma Xin was pessimistic about Li Qiang’s decision, or rather she hoped he declined.

"He will not reject it, and if he does, I will return to my house," she said in a firm voice that surprised her grandparents.

"Do not say that; simply hope he agrees." Grandma Xin spoke quickly, with her heart in her throat. Xin Yan’s words were extremely dangerous.

"We will be leaving now," Xin Yan said, looking at the time; it was getting late and she needed to return before Li Qiang.

"Goodbye, Xin Chuxi; please pay us a visit. If you feel lonely, simply ask Aunt Yan to drop you off here," Grandma Xin worriedly advised while they were in the car.

"That is enough; at this rate, you might delay their departure," Grandpa Xin said, holding her back. She sighed.

"I am just concerned about both of them," she exhaled as she watched the car leave the estate.

"Do you think Li Qiang would welcome her into the house?" Grandma Xin asked.

Grandpa Xin embraced her and nodded.

"He certainly would," he said simply before leading her inside.

"Aunt Yan, I heard them mention Li Qiang a lot. Who is Li Qiang?" Xin Chuxi inquired, curious.

Xin Yan blushed slightly. "Li Qiang is aunty’s husband," she responded.

"Husband? Is Aunty already married? Xin Chuxi cocked her head as she asked the question.

"Hmm, Aunty got married not too long ago, and she married China’s most handsome man," Xin Yan complimented Li Qiang. She had to admit that he was truly the most attractive man in China.

"I also think Aunty is the most beautiful; does this mean Uncle Li and Aunty Yan are meant for each other?" Her question was innocent, but it posed a significant threat to Xin Yan as she coughed slightly.

"Well, you could say that," she admitted with a blush.

"Then I wish Aunty and Uncle have children in the near future; I will assist in child care," Xin Chuxi said solemnly.

Xin Yan wore an expression of helplessness. How could a five-year-old think about such things? But then she remembered that Xin Chuxi was unlike other children.

She had to fend for herself when she was only three. That would have been overwhelming for her. Xin Chuxi had told her about her life story on their way to the mall.

Her heart tightened in pain for the little girl once more. She wondered if the parents were still alive or if they had died.

If the parents were still alive, she would scold them in her heart while vowing to provide for Xin Chuxi.

Xin Yan noticed Xin Chuxi was drowsy, but she kept talking; it appeared she was using the conversation to keep herself awake.

"Why don’t you sleep?" Xin Yan asked.

"I am afraid to sleep," she admitted honestly.

Xin Yan frowned and questioned, "Why is that?"

"I am afraid that if I fall asleep and wake up, all of this will be a dream; I do not want to return to my miserable life," Xin Chuxi explained, blinking her black eyes.

Xin Yan found it difficult to breathe as she clutched her chest, but she suppressed the bitter thought in her mind.

"Relax and sleep; I will be here when you wake up," Xin Yan patted her laps, indicating she could rest her head on them.

Sensing her reluctance, Xin Yan gave a reassuring smile, and Xin Chuxi was able to rest her head on Xin Yan’s laps, falling asleep instantly.

Xin Yan stroked her forehead with a motherly smile, while the two passengers in front, the driver and Chen Wenling, could only smile back.

"President," Chen Wenling called out as the car came to a halt.

"Shh," Xin Yan motioned for her to be silent.

Chen Wenling whispered, "President.

"We have arrived," she announced, and Xin Yan nodded.

"President, allow me to carry her for you," the driver offered, but she declined.

"I will carry her in myself," she refused as she effortlessly carried her into the mansion.

"She will make an excellent mother," the driver said, and Chen Wenling agreed.
