"Forget about it," she said, embarrassed.

"But I do not want to forget; you asked me to cuddle you, so why would I forget?" He decided to let loose his shameless side.

He was not concerned about what she thought. She had given him permission; he would be extremely foolish not to accept the proposal.

"But I do not want to," Xin Yan declared adamantly. She chastised herself internally for her foolish and rash action.

"Alright, I will not force you," he said, closing his eyes to avoid bothering her any longer.

Xin Yan bit her lip as she felt guilty. She was the one who requested it of him, but she was breaking her word, which was unfair to him.

"Li Qiang, uhm...," she stuttered, unsure what to say.

"Just sleep; do not worry about me," he said to her without opening his eyes.

She nodded, but quickly gave a low hum because he could not see her if she nodded.

Both of them had a quiet night.

The following day

Xin Yan stretched gently and instinctively patted the space beside her. She opened her eyes, sensing that it was empty.

She immediately sat up and looked around, obviously looking for Li Qiang.

"Looking for me?" She jumped in fear when she heard the voice.

"I am sorry; did I startle you? I did not mean to," he quickly apologized.

"It is fine, your voice was unexpected, so it was natural for me to be scared; you are all dressed up?" She pointed out.

"Yeah, I have an early morning meeting; Gao Yang will be here shortly," he told her, and she nodded.

"I will also go to the site and meet with my team; we should start working on the land soon," she said, placing her hands on her jaws and picturing how she wanted the supermarket to look.

The ringing of the phone interrupted her meditation, and she frowned.

She picked up the phone and saw a message from an unknown but familiar number.

Her eyebrows furrowed deeply. She could never forget this number, not in her previous or current lifetime. Jiang Lanfen’s phone number was given to her, and she requested a meeting.

When Li Qiang noticed her distraught expression, he asked, "What is the matter? Is there anything wrong?

"No, it is fine; just a random message that I believe was sent by mistake," she forced a smile, and he nodded, but he did not believe her.

"Get dressed, I will be downstairs," he told her before exiting the room.

Xin Yan sat on the bed, pondering the message for a while; it did not take long for her to make a decision.

She replied, 𝑎𝑛𝑑 and deleted the message with a cold expression.a cold face.

Xin Yan freshened up before going downstairs. The couple enjoyed breakfast prepared by Li Qiang’s chef.

Meanwhile, Chen Wenling relocated to Xin Yan’s previous residence yesterday. Nanny Zhong was delighted to have her. Gao Yang assisted her in getting settled.

The thugs Lu Ming sent to the station were forced to reveal their source of support, Chen Wenling’s landlord.

The landlords and thugs were apprehended thanks to Gao Yang’s assistance.

"I will drop you off," Li Qiang informed her when Gao Yang arrived.

"She settled in properly, but she can not pick up calls because her phone was damaged yesterday," Gao Yang said cautiously, not wanting to worry Xin Yan.

"Let us go," Xin Yan gestured for them to leave without saying anything.

"Thank you for dropping me off," she thanked Li Qiang as they arrived at her company.

"My pleasure," he said with a slight smile.

"Wait a minute," he said, stopping her as she was about to leave the car.

She turned to look at him, puzzled.

"Do you really want your brother to take over the company? You have been doing it for three years." He wanted to talk to her about it last night but did not because she was exhausted.

"Hmm, big brother will make a much better leader than me, and I am confident that the shareholders and directors will be pleased," Xin Yan stated firmly.

"Is this because you want to exact revenge? You do not want your family’s business to suffer? Li Qiang posed the question boldly.

Xin Yan was taken aback as she looked at him with wide eyes; he clearly knew her well.

"It is just as you said, in the pursuit of vengeance, I do not want my family or our company to become collateral damage; even if my grandparents support me, I do not want to undo their hard work," Xin Yan lowered her head.

She had already decided what could and could not happen.

"It is fine, do whatever you want; just remember that I am right here with you," he patted her head, making her feel a little shy.

"I will be leaving now," she rushed out of the car, while Li Qiang smiled affectionately, unconcerned that his assistant was about to be stuffed with dogfood.

"President, you really indulge President Xin," Gao Yang could only speak with a bitter voice.

"Of course, am I meant to indulge another person apart from her?" Li Qiang sneered at his foolish assistant.
