Rebirth: The Heiress Plans Her Revenge -
Chapter 35: Land Bidding
Chapter 35: Chapter 35: Land Bidding
Guan Yu was on the verge of losing his temper. Why were the CEOs so unpleasant? Could not he even speak to his deceased friend’s daughter?
"It is best CEO Tian watches his words; we do not want you spreading rumors." Guan Yu also exuded an oppressive aura. After all, he had held a position of power for a long time.
The said CEO Tian shrank his neck, unable to meet the minister’s gaze.
"I do not see any reason not to speak with Xin Yan; she is my late friend’s daughter, and we do not get to see each other; is not it appropriate for me to inquire about her well-being? I did not even make it to her wedding, and you sit there hurling accusations at me; it is best you know what is good for you, and that goes for all of you." Guan Yu swept his cold eyes over everyone.
He nodded, seeing their obedient expressions, "Now that that is been settled, can we begin?"
The meeting got underway, and everyone forgot about the earlier issue as the CEOs presented their proposals.
Xin Yan let out a slight yawn. She was starting to feel bored. The CEOs basically came up with the same idea—build a mall—and the words they used were nearly identical.
Xin Yan was not the only one who became bored. Guan Yu was becoming increasingly impatient.
He believed they did not conduct a thorough investigation of the land and simply assumed a mall would be the best option.
He looked at Xin Yan and became interested when he noticed her bored expression. Did she feel the same way, or was everything an act?
It was soon Jiang Zhengzhou’s turn to speak, and he let Jiang Lanfen speak.
Guan Yu and Xin Yan straightened up after hearing her words; her approach was vastly different from what those silly CEOs had planned.
"Looking at the situation in the town, building a school is the best approach, especially a free school; all parents want their children to have the best education possible, so having a school built is wise," her words were eloquent and clear.
Xin Yan would have been taken in by those words and would have thought she had made the wrong proposal if she had not conducted a thorough investigation into the town, which Jiang Lanfen could not do.
Her lips curled slightly as she looked at Guan Yu, who was serious about reading the documents. Fortunately, she was the last, or she would have passed up a great opportunity.
She only looked at Jiang Lanfen with sympathy. It would have been hers if she had not been present, but she faced a formidable opponent in herself.
"This is nice, but I would like to hear from Xin Yan before making a decision," he said as he handed Xin Yan the stage.
"First and foremost, Minister, I would like to apologize; I was in an accident today and left my files in my car, so I will have to use my words to communicate," she said, and he nodded.
"That is ridiculous; how are you going to present your proposal without the available documents, Xin Yan? Do you consider yourself a superhero?" Jiang Lanfen laughed mockingly.
"I may not be a superhero, but I am familiar with the contents of the documents because I prepared the proposal myself and did not rely on outsiders to assist me, unlike some people," she said, raising her brow as she stared directly into Jiang Lanfen’s eyes.
"You!" Jiang Lanfen stood, pointing furiously at Xin Yan.
"I apologize for my daughter’s outburst; it is been that way since her husband was imprisoned," Jiang Zhengzhou quickly stood up to apologize while dragging Jiang Lanfen to a seat.
"Are you okay?" Jiang Zhengzhou whispered, "She is deliberately trying to provoke you, and you are stupid enough to fall for it," as he cast an apologetic look at everyone.
Jiang Lanfen, on the other hand, was reluctant. She continued to glare at Xin Yan, who was unconcerned.
"You may begin, President Xin," he gave permission, and Xin Yan nodded.
"First, I would like to compliment my competitor, Jiang Lanfen, on an excellent speech," Jiang Lanfen’s ears perked up at Xin Yan’s words.
Her father intervened just as she was about to retort. He was starting to get annoyed with her temper.
"I would have thought my proposal was terrible if I had not done a thorough background check on the town," she paused, checking to see if Guan Yu was paying attention to her.
She only continued when she was certain: "Having thoroughly investigated, a supermarket will be the best thing to build, and my team and I are fully capable of it," she said confidently.
However, her words sparked an uproar among the CEOs in attendance. They were mocking her for her lack of comprehension. She did not say anything because she was about to confront them with facts.
"Silence! Continue, President Xin," Guan Yu was interested, and everyone could tell. They could only be silent, much to their dismay.
Guan Yu’s eyes lit up with her words. He wondered why she wanted to build a supermarket. He sighed internally as she reminded him of his friend once more.
"If you truly look into the situation of the people of the town, you will notice that there is not a single store for their daily necessities, and they would have to walk to the nearest neighborhood just to get what they need."
"This takes a toll on the people; while the idea of a mall is good, a supermarket will be the best to build because it is less expensive and will only sell what the people need; building a school would have been good as well, but we must consider the fact that there is still a functioning school in the town; we do not want to take away the teachers’ livelihoods."
"This is my humble proposal," she concluded, bowing confidently.
Everyone looked at the minister, and their hearts sank; the land was not theirs. Even if they did not want to admit it, she made some interesting points throughout her speech.
"If you are awarded the land, how long will it take your team to build the supermarket?" Guan Yu inquired, his eyes remaining bright for a moment.
"My team and I are efficient in three weeks to a month," she said convincingly.
"Okay, we will take a break while I consult with the appropriate authorities; I can not make decisions on my own," he said, smiling, and they all nodded before Guan Yu stepped outside.
Xin Yan took her seat and spoke with Chen Wenling in a low voice.
Jiang Lanfen was getting irritated just looking at her face. Jiang Zhengzhou was too preoccupied with the other CEOs to notice his daughter’s malicious gaze.
They only turned when they heard a loud noise, and they were surprised to see Jiang Lanfen on the floor, in a very sorry state.
"I do not pity my enemies, and you are at the top of the list; I did not come at you; you brought this on yourself," their gaze returned to Xin Yan, who was casually cleaning her hands.
"Lanfen," Jiang Zhengzhou raced towards her.
Jiang Zhengzhou glared at Xin Yan while still clutching a distressed Jiang Lanfen.
"I did not do anything; your daughter came running at me; do you think I would be so stupid to let her hurt me? "I am not a fool, okay?" Xin Yan shook her head at his stupidity.
"I do not trust you," Jiang Zhengzhou said, just as brainless as Jiang Lanfen. One might wonder how he was able to devise such a complicated plan.
"You can, I believe it will save me stress; however, I have been recording the entire time; I was recording my speech to show my dearest husband, but I had not turned it off; what do the police say about hurting someone else, Wenling?" Xin Yan inquired, tilting her head to take a better look at Wenling.
"It is a crime punishable by law; the offender could face two months in jail." Chen Wenling’s lips twitched a few times, but she managed to say those words with a straight face.
"I am not that stupid to hurt your daughter; I am Mrs. Li, and I would be harming my husband’s reputation if I did something as stupid, but thankfully, the recording can prove my innocence; I was only acting in self-defense," her words were able to rally the crowd, who agreed with her.
Jiang Zhengzhou scowled at Xin Yan. He had greatly underestimated her. She had the ability to lead people on, a trait he could only hope for his brainless daughter should have.
"Then I apologize for my daughter’s foolishness and impulsiveness," he said, pulling Jiang Lanfen up.
"The thing is, her mental health is not strong enough, and it only got worse when her husband was apprehended by the police," Jiang Zhengzhou said, his face filled with regret, but Xin Yan could see the scheming in his eyes.
Her lips twitched occasionally. She understood what he was attempting to convey.
