As the saying goes, enemies cross paths on narrow roads.

"Jiang Lanfen," she called calmly. She had not seen her in a long time, since she threw her out of her home.

She expected her to make a scene, but it appears she decided to keep quiet. She did not expect to meet her here, especially with an older man.

"You are quite bold; Yuan Renshu is already in jail, but you have already hooked up with another man, and that too, an elderly man; you are quite, I do not even know what to say," Xin Yan clicked her tongue, while Chen Wenling chuckled by her side.

Jiang Lanfen’s eyes turned red, "Do not slander me, I love Yuan Renshu very much, and this is my father; unlike some people, I am not shameless enough to hook up with another man." Naturally, the man beside Jiang Lanfen was her father, Jiang Zhengzhou.

"I thought you were orphaned; how come you now have a father? Were you lying? Xin Yan tilted her head, perplexed as to how a ’dad’ appeared.

Jiang Lanfen tightened her teeth. This Xin Yan was a tough nut to crack.

"Miss Xin, Jiang Lanfen is my adopted daughter; yes, she was an orphan, but now I am her father," Jiang Zhengzhou explained.

Xin Yan raised her eyebrows and nodded. She gave Chen Wenling a subtle look, indicating that they should leave. But Jiang Lanfen would have none of it.

"Xin Yan, hold on, when are you going to take down the accusations that you made against Brother Renshu?" This question caused Xin Yan to stop in her tracks.

She turned to look at Jiang Lanfen, her eyebrows raised

"Why should I? They are not allegations; they are proven facts, so why should I remove the charges against him when he is guilty?" Xin Yan asked with a mocking chuckle.

"I do not care what you say; you must release the father of my child," she yelled, drawing the attention of everyone in the lobby.

Xin Yan’s eyes widened, stunned. She was not expecting to have a child thrown into the mix. Jiang Lanfen never had children in her previous life.

Was it because she acted differently, altering the trajectory of the present? She questioned herself while deep in thought.

If this were the case, she would have no idea what might occur. They were already aware of her change, and they would undoubtedly behave differently than she anticipated.

The appearance of a ’father’ is enough proof for her to realize that things have changed and will continue to change.

But she was not concerned. She was aware of the risks and was prepared to face them head on. She was going to get her revenge, no matter what happened.

"Are you listening to me?" Will you allow a child to grow up without their father? Are you really that cruel? Jiang Lanfen wept as Zhengzhou consoled her.

Even those around her felt sympathy for her as they mocked Xin Yan with harsh words.

Xin Yan listened to everything the people said. She could only shake her head in response to their lack of insight.

She swept her gaze over all of them, her expression cold as she sneered.

They were all terrified because, at the end of the day, she remained feared.

She turned to Jiang Lanfen, snorting, "Should I let go of the person who created a company right under my nose and transfer my company’s funds to it?"

"I am not a saint; I fight back when things are not going my way; you do not expect me to sit and watch my family’s legacy be destroyed; and as for your pregnancy, I do not care, if you have the means; get him bailed out yourself," she flicked her hair before walking to the elevator under the people’s gaze.

"Are you actually pregnant?" Jiang Zhengzhou asked quietly as Xin Yan left.

Jiang Lanfen swallowed; she was not pregnant; she lied to gain the people’s support.

She had no idea how to respond to this question, but sensing her father’s glare, she quickly shook her head negatively.

"Why did you lie, then?" Jiang Zhengzhou was on the verge of going insane with rage.

It appeared that the lecture he gave her last night was insufficient for her. It was best if he could lock her up and prevent anyone from seeing her.

"Give me an answer!" He yelled, drawing attention to them once more.

He gave an apologetic smile before dragging her away.

Only Xin Yan and Chen Wenling were present in the elevator.

She let out a sigh of relief as she looked at her wristwatch. Fortunately, they were not too late.

"President, do you believe Jiang Lanfen is pregnant?" Her brow furrowed in response to Chen Wenling’s question.

She sank into deep thought. She was inclined to believe that she was not pregnant.

It has only been one week since she returned. If Jiang Lanfen were truly pregnant, she would not hesitate to show the child to her before killing her.

And she remembered that in her previous life, Jiang Lanfen was always with her, and she was not pregnant at all. This situation was clearly suspicious.

"I do not think she is, and even if she is, I do not care; Yuan Renshu stole from the company, and he must pay for it; let us not discuss this issue any longer, okay?" Xin Yan asked her, and she nodded.

"Why did you lie, Lanfen?" Oh my goodness, I really do not know what to do with you; what if someone finds out? Jiang Zhengzhou had taken her to a quiet corner to chastise her.

"I was not thinking dad, I was only thinking about Brother Renshu, which is why I lied. Xin Yan and Chen Wenling walked down the corridor before being ushered into the room by a lady who appeared to be a secretary.

When the door opened, everyone turned to look at her. She raised her brow, not expecting them to take her seriously.

"You are late, President Xin," one of the CEOs said, frowning at her.

She chuckled anyway, because she was expecting this.

"Last I checked, this meeting still has ten minutes to begin, and I am not late; there is still one more CEO left," she responded in her own words.

The man who spoke was a rival of hers, and despite the fact that his company is not very good, he enjoys competing with her.

Indignant, the CEO gritted his teeth. He would always struggled to defeat Xin Yan, but he would put an end to that today.

The land belonged to him. He had already spoken with the CEOs present prior to Xin Yan’s arrival. He had persuaded them to surrender for his sake.

Xin Yan chuckled as she took a seat in the farthest section; she did not want to associate with snakes and end up getting bitten.

Jiang Lanfen and Jiang Zhengzhou entered about three minutes later.

They appeared to be distant from each other as they gave curt nods to each one of them.

Xin Yan rolled her eyes; she did not like seeing them. But then something occurred to her: what was the name of his company?

She had never encountered him before. It was as if he had appeared out of nowhere. For some reason, she suspected that the company he managed might be the one Yuan Renshu had secretly established.

She did not have time to think about it before the Minister of the National Bureau of Lands and Resources, Guan Yu, entered, accompanied by his aides.

They all stood to greet him and only sat down after he gave them permission.

"Xin Yan, it has been a while; how is the Old Master? I also did not expect you to be interested in this land," Guan Yu told Xin Yan intimately.

"Uncle Guan, grandfather is fine, and yes, I am interested in this land; I believe it will benefit the people of the town if one of us obtains it," she stated confidently, and no one could find a flaw in her words.

Guan Yu responded with a nod. She reminded him of his friend, Xin Yan’s father. Actually, they are family friends who are extremely close.

"It is fine, I trust you," he praised, and she nodded with a poised smile that Jiang Lanfen wanted to wipe away.

"It is best we start, or else, I might think the land has already been awarded to President Xin, and it appears we are here as cannon fodder," one of the CEOs complained, much to Guan Yu’s annoyance.
