Chapter 133: Chapter 133: Teasing Xin Yi
He sighed, gripping the steering wheel tightly, "I cannot do without you, I just can’t," he confessed in a lowered voice.
Zhang Luiying stared at him, her eyes misty and filled with tears because of his words.
"I am sorry," she apologized immediately.
"For?" Xin Yi asked as he turned to look at her.
"For being insensitive, for not caring about myself, and most importantly, for making you worry, and causing you to be worked up, I am sorry for it," she apologized with pouted lips and puppy eyes.
"Silly you, I will always forgive you, and also, I cannot stay mad at you for long," he commented, accepting her apology in the process.
"It is scary to see you angry, and I know it is my fault, which is why I am apologizing," she stated, and he nodded in return, ending the argument.
"So, would you be sending it to me?" He asked. This was what he was concerned about.
"I will, I will be doing it now," she could not argue with him, why not just send it to him?
They could also find out the mystery of her birth swap in the first place. She had every reason to believe the call was associated with what happened years ago when she was stolen at birth.
"Sent, but you would have to focus on driving and the race first," she laid out immediately, this was how well she knew him.
He looked at her, speechless. He could not believe that she had also mastered the art of giving out conditions.
"Fine," he agreed reluctantly, and she smiled in triumph, thrilled with her victory.
They finally arrived at the Xin’s Residence, and they were ushered in immediately.
"Uncle! Aunt!" The kids exclaimed on seeing them. They were close to their uncle and aunt, and were very excited to meet them after a long period of time.
"Where are your parents and my grandparents," Xin Yi inquired.
Zhang Luiying shook her head at him, noticing what he had done.
"Mom and dad are still sleeping, while great-grandma and great-grandpa are in the study," Li Chuxi replied as they led the couple to their seat.
"Your parents are still sleeping?" Xin Yi was exasperated.
"Yes, they had a rough day yesterday, we will inform great-grandparents of your arrival," Li Chuxi pulled her sister along with her as they walked to the study.
"Really?" Zhang Luiying folded her arms while fixing her gaze on him.
"What is it?" He asked, baffled by her sudden tone.
"You are still being petty with kids," Zhang Luiying commented.
"I do not understand," he was genuinely clueless about what she was talking about.
"You referred grandma and grandpa to, and I quote, ’my grandparents’, not cool, we all know they are your grandparents, but saying to the kids’ face could cause damage," she explained to him, and he let out an ’oh!’
He finally understood what she was talking about, and he chuckled.
"I have always addressed them as such, but if you feel it could cause a scar on the kids, I will stop," he said to her, and she nodded, pleased with the fact that he took corrections.
"You both are quite early," they suddenly rose to their feet on hearing Grandpa Xin’s voice.
"Good morning Grandpa, Grandma," they greeted simultaneously, and the kids chuckled at the interaction.
They only took their seats after they had received the go-ahead.
"Are your parents still in the room?" Grandma Xin asked, and the kids nodded positively.
"Check on them, your dad should be awake, but watching over your mom," Grandpa Xin instructed, and the two girls left the living room immediately, leaving them behind.
"How are you?" Grandma Xin asked with concern as she stared at Xin Yi.
"Me?" He asked, pointing at himself confused.
"Yes, you, why do you seem surprised?" His grandma was confused about his reaction.
"This is probably the first time you care about my wellbeing, I sometimes think I am not your grandson," Xin Yi joked.
He was aware that his grandparents cared about him, but because he was the older one, they did not show it. So his grandmother’s act of concern surprised him.
"You are silly, whoever said we did not care about you lied," Grandma Xin instantly talked back.
"I do not mean it that way Grandma, I know you care about me, but you cannot deny that this is the first time you are expressing it, maybe I should take up more race challenges," Xin Yi spoke with a sigh, that was until he received a clap on his arm, it was from Zhang Luiying.
"Ouch!" He moaned.
"Why did you hit me?" He complained while rubbing his arm.
"Because your words hurt your grandparents, take a look at their faces," Luiying gestured to them.
Xin Yi was heartbroken seeing the expression on his grandparents’ faces. Their faces were twisted, and it looked like they were about to cry.
"I did not mean what I said, forgive this ignorant grandson of yours," he quickly walked to their side.
"I am deeply sorry, I will not say such insensitive words again, please don’t be angry, grandpa, grandma," he apologized genuinely.
All of a sudden, Zhang Luiying burst into laughter. He turned to look at her as he wondered why she was laughing at such a serious issue.
"Got you," his grandma exclaimed, and there were laughs and excitement all around.
"You played me," he pouted, still squatting beside his grandfather’s side.
"You should have seen your face, you panicked, it was fun to watch," Zhang Luiying stated in between laughs.
"What is going on?" Xin Yan and Li Qiang made their way to the living room, alongside their kids, and they were clueless about the reason for the laughter.
"Sister-in-law, your brother was just tricked by grandma and grandpa, you should have seen his face," Zhang Luiying replied while still laughing.
"Is that so? Brother has always been the easiest to trick, I will not be surprised if that happens," Xin Yan raised her eyebrows as she observed her brother who looked like all his energy had been depleted.
"Uncle seems like he has lost to life," Li Meimei wanted to whisper to her sister, but her voice accidentally ended up being loud, and everyone heard it, causing laughter to fill the room.
