The smile on Mrs. Chen’s face wiped off as she stared at her daughter, who looked earnest.

Gu Shishi stood to the side, her hands folded. She did not expect she was going to get to watch a family drama, but it was fun. She needed some sort of escape from life, and this was the best thing she could watch, a real life drama.

Hence, instead of leaving the room, and giving the family enough space to sort out their issues, she stood to the side, a grin on her lips, eagerly anticipating the drama.

"What do you mean by cutting off ties with us? Are you sure you have not been possessed?" Mrs. Chen asked while staring at her with a ridiculous expression.

"I figured this is the only way I can escape your grasp, you and I know that you do not love me," Chen Wenling explained to her, while she could only look on with a stunned expression.

"Wenling, do not say things like that, I understand that I might have not been a good mother to you, it might seem like I favor Mikong to you,"

"It does not seem that way, it is the truth, all my life, I have always lived in his shadow, at first, I thought it was something elder sisters did, but I was utterly wrong," Chen Wenling cut her off immediately.

Mrs. Chen had an awkward expression as Chen Wenling blurted out their family secrets.

"Still, that is not enough reason to cut off ties with us, let’s sit and have a reasonable discussion," Mrs. Chen was unwilling to let her go.

Not because she loved her, that was not the reason. She wanted to keep her to herself because of the benefits she could get if she were close to her. Chen Wenling could help her son once he got into trouble.

She was aware of the type of son she birthed, he was a repeat offender, and Chen Wenling was the only one she could count on if an issue such as this comes up again.

Chen Wenling could read her thoughts, as she had it written all over her face. She shook her head, wondering how she had such a mother who did not care about her.

"I am sorry to disappoint your mother, but I will not give into your emotional blackmail, I apologize, but I do not consider you to be my mother anymore," Chen Wenling was exhausted, both emotionally and mentally.

"Do not do this, wait a minute, I believe he is the reason for your rash decision," Mrs. Chen suddenly turned to look at Gao Yang.

She approached him with a fierce expression, her eyes were narrowed, and her veins popped out.

In return, Gao Yang had his eyebrows raised, he was curious as to what she was planning. In fact, he was anticipating what she had for him.

"You must be the reason for my daughter’s crazy decision, she had not ever rebelled this way, but as soon as you stepped into her life, my daughter made stupid decisions,

Since she listens to you, why don’t you tell her that what she is trying to do is stupid?" Mrs. Chen pleaded insincerely.

Gao Yang scoffed. If she were sincere from the beginning, such issues would have not arisen. At the end of the day, it was all her fault, and it was stupid of her to try to pin the blame on someone else.

"Listen, if you were genuine to your daughter from the beginning, your daughter would not have been eager to cut off all relationships with you,

Do you think your daughter is incapable of taking actions which are beneficial to her?" Gao Yang questioned, and she subconsciously shook her head.

"At the end of the day, you know that you are the one at fault," Gao Yang hit the rod while it was still hot.

"Mom, do not argue with them, Miss Gu might be angry, you can respond to her after she gets me out of here, are you willing to see me here?" Chen Mikong asked with fear.

He was scared that he might have a criminal record in his name, and nothing feared him more than that.

Gu Shishi heard what he said, and she felt that it was the most ridiculous thing she had ever heard since she was born.

She had listened to everything which they had discussed, and she felt that she could empathize with Chen Wenling. After all, she had also faced the same situation at home.

Behind the façade of a luxurious lifestyle, she was faced with heavy criticism at home just because she was a girl, the only girl at that.

All her brothers experienced the love from all the members of her family, but she was like an outcast in her home.

"Chen Mikong, it is best you keep your mouth shut," she ordered as she walked to their place.

She could not hold it in anymore.

"Mrs Chen, I would rather not interfere in your family issues, but I cannot stand your self-entitled actions anymore," Gu Shishi spoke up when she was unable to hold it in anymore. She feared that she might burst and say things she was not meant to say.

"What do you mean? This concerns our family, and I will appreciate it if you do not interfere," Chen Mikong was still cocky, although he was in the wrong.

"I should not interfere?" Gu Shishi questioned, sarcasm heavy in each word of her statement.

"Excuse you! I am the victim here, and thus, I have every right to interfere, I did not ask for much, only for the person who stole from me to apologize with his knees on the floor," Gu Shishi was speechless by the actions of both mother and son.

Chen Wenling looked at Gu Shishi who was standing up for her, and she felt her heart warm. She would not have expected that Gu Shishi would back her up.

"You know what, I want you, and not your sister to apologize, and if you are not willing to do so, I can assure you that you might have to spend the rest of the year in jail, it isn’t long, just four months left," Gu Shishi threatened.
