"I guess you are right, I should not leave these matters unsolved," Chen Wenling declared with a firm voice, and he nodded in response.

"But I do not know where the police station is located," she suddenly recalled this little piece of detail.

"That will be hard, but call her to find out, that is the only way," Gao Yang instructed.

"How about I send a text message? I will get agitated if I hear their voices," she suggested, which was quite true.

"Fine, that could work also," Gao Yang agreed.

While she was about to send the text message, he suddenly asked, "do you think they will see the message immediately?"

"I know they will see it immediately, I know how my mom is, and surely, she has her eyes glued to her phone presently," Chen Wenling chuckled in reply as she sent the message to her.

Just like she had predicted, her mother sent her the text message two minutes later.

"See, I told you," she waved her phone at him with a smug smile, and he shook his head in return.

"Let’s go," he said to her, and they both left the house, heading to the police station.

They arrived there in an hour. Actually, it only took twenty minutes to get to the station as it was not that far from where Gao Yang lived, but they decided to play with their emotions a little.

"Wenling," she was interrupted by someone she was very familiar with, someone she grew up with, it was her mother, of course.

"Come, I knew you would not leave your brother, regardless of what he might have done, deep down, you still care about him, and I am elated by that," Mrs. Chen was relieved seeing Chen Wenling.

She could rest assured that her son was going to be saved. She had faith that her daughter could make it right.

She led them to a room, and her brother was in that room, confined.

"Sister, I know you will not leave me, I am still your brother," Chen Mikong stood up in excitement as he exclaimed.

Chen Wenling did not say anything, she only stared at him, with blank eyes. She had nothing to say to him.

"And I believe this must be the riffraff who said those nonsense over the phone," Mrs. Chen directed a glare to the innocent Gao Yang.

Gao Yang was more than speechless over her righteous act. He was happy and thankful that he was not the type of man who beats a lady up after she speaks trash.

Chen Wenling turned to look at Gao Yang, trying to see if he was offended, but fortunately, he was not.

"Mom, that is enough, he is my boyfriend, I believe he is entitled to interfere in matters concerning me, especially if it does not favor me," Chen Wenling spoke up, introducing Gao Yang in the process.

"You! Girl, I believe you are still so young to have a boyfriend, break up with him immediately," Mrs. Chen panicked, calling for their breakup.

"And why should I? You should be talking to your son here who is dating eight girls at the same time remember, your son and I aren’t the same," Chen Wenling was fed up with the discrimination.

On hearing his secret being exposed, Chen Mikong lowered his head as the officers who were in the room gave him strange looks.

"Relax sister, you are destroying my reputation, please stop what you are doing, or rather, what you plan to do because this is definitely not the beginning," Chen Mikong was still ordering her even when he needed her help.

Chen Wenling looked up to the sky, and she wondered why she was blessed with such an immature brother.

"Wenling, that is enough, you are here now, I will ask the officers to call the lady, you only kneel then serve her for about six months, surely you can do that," Mrs. Chen was enthusiastic, and it took everything in Gao Yang’s power to not give Mrs. Chen a slap.

He had no idea as to why she differentiated between both kids. They were both her kids, weren’t they? Then why the vast difference in the treatment.

Chen Wenling turned to look at him, and she could notice he had his jaws clenched, in anger, obviously. He seemed to be restraining himself from bursting out.

She held his hands, smiled warmly at him, and mouthed an ’it is an okay’ to him.

He took deep breaths before he got himself back together.

"Mom, I have something to tell you," Chen Wenling spoke up.

"That can hold on, she is here," Mrs. Chen did not bother to listen to her daughter as she and her son hastily stood up.

Chen Wenling and Gao Yang heard the door being opened, causing both of them to turn to look at the door.

They both recognized who the lady was immediately. It was someone they were familiar with, not like they were close to the person, but because the person is among the higher society.

"Miss Gu?" Chen Wenling called out with uncertainty.

"Oh, you are the sister who is going to take your brother’s place, interesting," Gu Shishi commented with a sarcastic smile as she made her way into the room completely.

"Miss Gu, it seems you know my daughter, that makes things easier," Mrs. Chen was excited as she wiped her sweat. She seemed to have found a silver lining, seeing that her daughter and the victim were acquaintances.

"Of course, who doesn’t know about Chen Wenling? The best assistant under Xin Yan, your daughter is good, and also filial, she is willing to put aside her ego just to help her brother out, this is just too amazing," if one listened carefully, they could make out the heavy sarcasm in her words.

Chen Wenling and Gao Yang were such people, as they frowned at her. But Mrs. Chen and Chen Mikong were not as smart, as they continued to nod in agreement to what she said.

"Miss Gu is brilliant," Mrs. Chen praised, and Gu Shishi chuckled in return as she stared at Chen Wenling who rolled her eyes.

"Mom, I was saying something earlier, I want you to listen to me before jumping into conclusions," Chen Wenling spoke up, it was best to end things now.

"What is that, dear?" Mrs. Chen asked with a doting smile.

Chen Wenling frowned. She did not know if it was an illusion, but she would rather not see such a look from her mother again, it scared her immensely.

"I want to cut off all ties with you," Chen Wenling announced with a firm voice.
