Chapter 104: Chapter 104 Sweetness

Walking inside, she saw the bedroom was tidied up quite nicely. The second-hand chairs and cabinets they bought were all wiped clean, and covered with cotton cloth, giving off a very cozy feeling.

Sun Chan poured a glass of water for Gu Junming: "Have some water. Is it a bit simple here?"

"How could it be? You’ve seen my place. It’s not as good as here. This place even has a ceiling. Houses in the village don’t use shavings, it gets really cold in winter." He smiled faintly.

Sun Chan smiled and said, "Then in winter, let’s send some money back to have your parents put a ceiling inside. Otherwise, it’s easy to catch a cold. There’s still a kid at home, Kangkang is so small."

Gu Junming shook his head: "I have sent quite a lot of money home, but they are reluctant to spend it. They just save it, no matter what I say, they don’t listen to me, it’s frustrating."

Not having seen her for several days, she was still so considerate, remembering his nephew, Gu Junming felt very touched.

"Then let’s go back! We can do it ourselves, that would be fine." Sun Chan was already thinking about how to do it. In her past life, she had seen others do it—buy some shavings first, then redo the ceiling with wooden boards.

While she was lost in thought, everything suddenly went dark as she was firmly embraced by a pair of arms.

"Can’t you hear me talking?"

"I was distracted, thinking about fixing the ceiling." Sun Chan was really startled and struggled lightly: "What are you doing? What if someone sees us?"

Gu Junming chuckled: "Who would see? Don’t you like me holding you?"

"No, I just didn’t expect..." Sun Chan’s voice trembled a bit. She didn’t expect Gu Junming to suddenly hold her. But given their relationship, intimacy was inevitable.

Gu Junming laughed: "You’re my girlfriend, we’re supposed to spend a lifetime together. I can’t say much else, but I can promise I’ll be good to you for a lifetime." He gently patted her back and stroked her hair, which was very smooth.

Sun Chan gently hugged his waist: "Yes, I’ll be good to you too, and to your family."

Gu Junming tightened his grip, holding her slender waist tightly. He wished he could merge her into his own body, but was afraid of hurting her. This girl had captured his heart from the first time he saw her. He worried about her being alone outside, feared her foster mother and sister might bully her, and was anxious she might choose another man who treated her well over him.

From the moment she didn’t oppose dating him, he finally felt at ease. Confident in her identity as his fiancée, he could treat her well, and he was very happy, so he spoke out directly.

"I really wish you could marry me soon?"

Sun Chan smiled: "I can’t, you have to wait. I’ll only be eighteen after the new year. I can’t marry yet."

"Okay, I’ll wait for you." Gu Junming kissed her forehead. Sun Chan’s face instantly turned as red as an apple.

In her past life, although she married Zheng Jinzhu, he showed no tenderness, caring only about having children. So Sun Chan knew almost nothing about romantic feelings between men and women. Being treated this way by Gu Junming made her nervous, but she still gently responded to his kindness.

Seeing her embarrassment, Gu Junming felt a bit embarrassed too, so he let her go and sat her down beside him.

"Sorry, I got a bit carried away earlier."

Sun Chan quickly waved her hand: "No, I wasn’t blaming you. I... I really like it."

"I’m heading back soon, haven’t had dinner yet." Gu Junming smiled at her.

Sun Chan exclaimed and quickly got up: "Sorry, I completely forgot. I’ll go make you something to eat now."

Gu Junming laughed and pulled her hand: "I was kidding, I’ve already eaten. I just think you’re really cute when you’re flustered. You really seem like a little wife."

Sun Chan spat lightly, then couldn’t help but laugh. She did act a bit silly just now.

Looking at her face, Gu Junming’s heart softened; he wanted to kiss her rosy lips, but he restrained himself, fearing of alarming the already panicked girl.

Even though Gu Junming said he had eaten, Sun Chan still went to the kitchen, turning the leftover morning rice into soy sauce fried rice, and made a persimmon egg soup. She brought it to the table for Gu Junming.

Gu Junming glanced at it and said with a smile: "You make food look really good."

"It’s nothing special, just home cooking. Eat up." Sun Chan smiled and said, "I’ll make some pickles tomorrow, do you like sauerkraut? I can make dumplings for you."

Gu Junming ate heartily: "Sure, if there are radishes and cucumbers, pickle some of those too. If there’s extra, I’ll take some home." Gu Junming gladly started eating, although it was a simple meal, he was very happy eating it. He finished a big bowl and drank two large bowls of soup.

Sun Chan smiled: "Alright, will fifty pounds of radishes and peppers be enough? It’s a bit late to buy now; autumn vegetables are usually bought in October."

"It’s not too late now, the weather’s warm this year."

Gu Junming and Sun Chan chatted about autumn vegetables for a while. They were both from farming backgrounds, familiar with such matters.

After they finished eating, Gu Junming fixed Sun Chan’s bicycle again, much better than before. She was startled by the amount of scrap metal.

He was a bit surprised: "How did you gather so much stuff?"

"Well, prices will rise soon, I want to make some money." Sun Chan grinned: "Then we can have some extra income."

"Alright, just don’t overwork yourself." He said with a smile.

Sun Chan nodded, watching Gu Junming neatly placing the iron pieces and wires at the entrance of the storeroom, thinking it was much more organized than the woman’s house before, and didn’t take up much space.

An hour passed quickly. Gu Junming washed his hands, getting ready to leave.

Sun Chan felt a bit reluctant, following him out through several alleys. Gu Junming turned back to her: "Go back. I’ll come pick you up on Sunday. You don’t need to buy anything; I’ve already bought it. Just come with me."

Sun Chan’s face warmed, nodding in agreement.

Gu Junming wanted to give her another hug, but since it was still a public street, he just squeezed her hand and quietly told her, "Be sure not to catch a cold. It doesn’t matter if we don’t earn money, just don’t wear yourself out. I’ve been thinking of you."

Sun Chan softly replied, "I’ve been thinking of you too."
