Chapter 712 - Chapter 712 Chapter 712 You Are Cunning Enough

Chapter 712: Chapter 712 You Are Cunning Enough Chapter 712: Chapter 712 You Are Cunning Enough At dusk, over a hundred people gathered noisily at the entrance of the General’s Mansion, led by none other than Prince Pu.

Despite being over sixty, thin, and not particularly imposing, Prince Pu had a fierce temper. He sat on a tall horse, a large saber slung over his shoulder, his face a mask of rage, the very image of a man on a quest for vengeance.

As he proceeded, passersby hurriedly stepped aside, causing a scene reminiscent of chickens flying and dogs leaping.

Moreover, the hundred or so men following him, each armed with weapons, were enough to frighten any common folk.

When the two servants guarding the gate of the General’s Mansion saw this, they were terrified, and before the group could even draw near, they cleverly dashed inside to bolt the door shut.

“Hurry, go and report to the General that Prince Pu has come with his men to make trouble at our mansion.” The two servants secured the door in a panic, one of them gasping for breath as he spoke.

“Right, you guard the door well, don’t let them break in.” The door had just been bolted when a thunderous knocking came from outside, shaking them to their core as they leaned against it.

“Stop dawdling, go report to the General, quick.”

“Eh! Alright!” One of the servants rushed hurriedly into the mansion.

“Bang, bang, bang…! Open up, you cowardly grandson, daring to bully my daughter but too scared to open the door, you just shrink inside the mansion like a turtle.” Prince Pu’s crude shouts and thunderous banging came from outside.

The remaining servant, with each thunderous noise from the door, felt his heart tremble violently, fearing that the door wouldn’t withstand the repeated assaults and would eventually collapse.

It felt as though a century had passed.

Situ Yongjie, accompanied by his men, hurried over.

“What on earth happened?”

“Old Master, your servant doesn’t know; I just suddenly saw Prince Pu with many followers, looking very aggressive, coming to the General’s Mansion, and in panic, your servant locked the door.”

Situ Yongjie was very vexed, knowing that Prince Pu must have heard about Lady Tang and came to seek an explanation.

“Open the gate, then.”

“Old Master, you must think thrice, Prince Pu brought many people, and he himself is carrying a big saber over his shoulder.” The servant trembled as he spoke, the situation being too frightening.

“How so, do you think by not opening the door, this issue can be resolved?” Situ Yongjie’s expression darkened, knowing well that Prince Pu was impetuous and that avoidance wouldn’t solve anything; it was better to face him, have a rational talk, and perhaps he would listen, although the chance was slim, it was still worth a try.

“But… there are so many of them.”

“As a General, do you think I should fear them because they are many?”

“Yes.”

The servant stepped forward and opened the gate.

The people outside were vigorously banging on the door, and suddenly, the door swung open.

“Oh dear!”

About a dozen strong men and Prince Pu surged in like bees from a hive, all tumbling over one another, the sounds of their distress overlapping.

Seeing the scene before him, Situ Yongjie was dumbfounded.

Prince Pu, looking disheveled, climbed up from the crowd, already seething with pent-up fury. Now, having taken a fall in full view of everyone, it was embarrassingly disgraceful.

His anger flaring even more, he disregarded his disheveled appearance and approached Situ Yongjie in quick strides, bursting out, “Situ Yongjie, I always thought you were noble, but it turns out you’re just a villain.”

Situ Yongjie responded with utmost respect, “Father-in-law, why such words? Your son-in-law doesn’t understand.”

As Prince Pu straightened his clothes, a cold sneer spread across his face. “You’re cunning enough, knowing fully well that I was knocking right behind the door, yet you ordered your men to open it, clearly intending to make a fool out of me.”
