Lady Li was startled and quickly replied, “I just went to the latrine; my stomach felt a bit off. I’m not sure if it’s something I ate, oh my, it hurts so much!”

As she spoke, Lady Li deliberately groaned a few times, as if in great pain.

Mo Si: “Do you want me to go fetch Doctor to take a look?”

“What’s there to see? It’s the middle of the night; the Doctor is surely asleep now.”

“We could wake him up.”

“It’s not that painful; I can bear it.”

“Yes, really, I feel much better after using the latrine now.”

“Oh! Wife, if you’re truly in pain, wake me up, and I’ll go fetch Doctor for you.”
