Chapter 309: Chapter 309: Double Happiness Comes to the Door Chapter 309: Chapter 309: Double Happiness Comes to the Door “We are an engaged couple, isn’t getting married just a matter of time?” Big Bull teased Xuexue on purpose, feeling secretly delighted.
“Er… Yes, yes.” Xuexue felt very uneasy, her eyes darting left and right as she responded evasively.
“Wife, how about we get married as soon as the house is built? Let’s double the happiness, add some joy to our family and, next year, maybe add a chubby little boy. What do you think?”
“Huh?”
Xuexue’s mouth hung open like an egg, utterly astonished. Usually, Big Bull was so silly, but today his words were so bizarre. They hadn’t even started, and he was already talking about having kids, shocking her thoroughly.
“Doesn’t grandma always nag about hoping we get married soon? This way, while she’s still young, she can help us take care of our child for a few years.” It seemed like teasing Xuexue was addictive; Big Bull couldn’t stop himself.
“Uh! Let’s talk about this later.”
Struggling, Xuexue got off him and quickly picked up the backpack that Big Bull had casually thrown on the ground, and, as if escaping for her life, walked away.
“Wife, where are you going?” Big Bull hurriedly asked as he followed her.
“Didn’t you say it’s still early and you don’t want to go back so soon? Let’s just wander around here and see if we can spot any rabbits or something.” After that scene, Xuexue didn’t dare to stay too close to Big Bull, always maintaining a safe distance.
“Okay!”
The road to wooing his wife was still long, and Big Bull knew he couldn’t rush it. He decided not to tease Xuexue anymore, to avoid scaring her off and making her avoid him more. That would be a loss greater than gain; by then, he’d have no tears left to cry.
“Slap, slap…! Coo, coo…!”
Just then, under a tree ahead, several teal ducks, probably startled by their presence, began flapping their wings and took flight.
Teal ducks being a lighter type of duck, with fuller feathers, could fly up like birds, though not very far. Especially after rain, they could be easily found in the woods or bamboo forests, hence, appropriately named teal ducks.
“Oh my! Big Bull, look at those teal ducks!” Xuexue, seeing six or seven teal ducks, felt overjoyed and waved frantically at Big Bull, hinting that today’s effort wouldn’t be in vain.
Big Bull picked up some pebbles from the ground and flung them at the teal ducks that had landed on the tree. Instantly, several streaks like lightning shot upwards: “Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh…!”
“Coo, coo…! Coo, coo…!” came the desperate cries of the teal ducks.
“Thud! Thud!”
Soon after, several shadows fell from the tree.
It turned out that Big Bull had knocked several teal ducks down with pebbles, and they weren’t dead yet. They were flapping their wings on the ground, struggling to fly away in an attempt to escape, but their injuries made it impossible for them to take off, leaving them to flop desperately on the ground, stirring up piles of rotten leaves.
Seeing this, Xuexue couldn’t help but be merry, thinking, “Big Bull is so capable, managing to bring down six teal ducks at once.”
“Wife, it’s such a pity, one got away,” Big Bull said, looking toward a corner of the forest, where the last teal duck had escaped.
“Oh come on, be content!” Xuexue laughed as she picked up the teal ducks from the ground.
Seeing the lively teal ducks, Xuexue used a sickle to cut several vines, binding them together to make a bundle, which she handed to Big Bull to carry.
“Wife, I want to eat roast duck,” Big Bull said enthusiastically, looking at the teal ducks in his hand.
“We didn’t bring flint, how can we roast them?” Xuexue replied, troubled. After all this hustle, it was nearly noon, and she was also getting quite hungry.
