Chapter 1543: Chapter 1515 Useless, Can’t Wait Anymore
"Mums!" Kiara saw her husband being ganged up on by the two old ladies and started speaking at a normal volume, but when no one listened to her, she raised her voice.
The noisy room finally fell silent.
"We didn’t say we don’t want it."
Phew, she finally got a chance to speak!
"Didn’t want what?"
"You didn’t discuss getting an abortion?"
"Kiara, you want it?" Edward Wheeler ’Bright Clarity’ was also delighted. He would listen to anything his daughter-in-law said, and if she said to keep it, he would be happy, but if she didn’t want to, he would respect her decision.
After Edward finished speaking, sensing that the old ladies were about to get angry again, he quickly changed his tune.
"It’s my fault, all my fault! If there’s a problem, face me, don’t take it out on my daughter-in-law!"
Mother Yuno couldn’t help but laugh, "Still know how to protect your daughter-in-law, not completely foolish."
"Kiara, what’s actually going on?" Kiara’s mother was a bit confused. So, who didn’t want the child?
"It’s hard to explain to you all... Basically, we didn’t say we don’t want the child. He’s happy, I’m happy, although I have no idea how this baby came about... But we’re both quite happy as it is, no one is planning not to want it."
Just as Mum had said, it’s good to use birth control when not planning to have a baby, but if it happens accidentally, then it’s fate. When a life is marching towards us, how can we not want it?
"Yes, we want it, haha, I knew it! My daughter isn’t that heartless. Don’t worry, I’ve already taken care of the permit for your second child. As a minority, you are allowed to have another, so go ahead and have one without fear," Kiara’s mother turned anger into joy.
"Oh my, when did you manage to do that, dear mother?" Mother Yuno was also happy.
"It hasn’t been that many months since we had Wendy. Luckily, Mr. Roy knew someone, and we thought since we were going to have another one anyway, might as well get the paperwork done early to avoid panic when the pregnancy happens. Isn’t this great, now we can go ahead and have the baby."
Given the son-in-law’s unique career situation where he couldn’t exceed the child limit without affecting his career, Kiara’s mother, though confused about other things, was meticulously planning these kinds of matters every day. Although having a beautiful daughter made the entire family happy, as a mother, one can’t help but be a bit sensitive, lest others frown upon not having a son. So, she had started figuring these things out for Kiara.
"You really did a great job, dear mother-in-law," praised Mother Yuno.
Actually, it was just polite flattery. Whether or not they had a permit didn’t make much difference to the Old Yuno Family, but such praise still contributed to family harmony.
Sure enough, Kiara’s mother, flattered by the praise, found her sense of worth, and the two old ladies started discussing how to ensure Kiara has a safe pregnancy.
Edward looked at Kiara with emotion, "Wife, are you really happy?"
"Happy, of course! Why wouldn’t I be? Are you not happy?"
"Happy... it’s just a bit complicated."
Knowing his wife was carrying another token of their love filled him with an innate joy he couldn’t control, yet the next second he worried about Kiara’s health, and it was only after repeated assurances from the doctors that he let go of his concerns. Everything must prioritize Kiara first.
The couple cleared up the misunderstanding, and he looked at her lovingly as he held her hand.
"However, there’s actually another issue to deal with..." Kiara paused, and Mother Yuno and Kiara’s mother stopped talking, everyone in the room looking at her nervously.
"How to explain it to Wendy... won’t she be upset?"
This baby had come so unexpectedly, Kiara hadn’t been mentally prepared. Such considerations about having a second child must take into account the daughter’s feelings, lest it cause trouble if the child doesn’t accept it.
"What would such a little girl know? Once the child is born, she’ll naturally grow to love it." Kiara’s mother thought quite simply.
"Zoe seems to have a good relationship with Ian, so it shouldn’t be a big issue, right?" As an elder, Mother Yuno naturally liked to see the family prospering.
Boy or girl, it didn’t matter; just being willing to have a child was good enough—of course, if another cute girl like Wendy could break the Yuno Family tradition of having only one girl per generation, that would be even better.
"Wendy is different from them all, too smart, with an early memory and logical thinking... I really don’t know how she’ll react. For now, let’s just observe Wendy’s response, and after everyone goes back, try not to act too surprised, so as not to upset my girl."
Kiara always had an extra bit of love for Wendy, a debt owed from a past life. Though she was happy about adding another member to the family, she couldn’t help but worry that this happiness could affect her sensible and intelligent daughter.
While Kiara was at the hospital waiting for good news, things were looking grim on Yuzo Joel’s end.
"How is it?" Edward Farmbright asked the overseas expert he had brought in, who gestured towards the door to suggest talking outside.
"Just say it here." Yuzo Joel sat up from the bed, his complexion very pale.
The frequent bouts of illness lately and increased doses of medication made Edward Farmbright feel uneasy, so he had called in the expert.
"This..." The expert looked uncertainly at Edward Farmbright, who nodded.
"Say it in front of him." There was no point in hiding it anymore.
"Professor Joel’s condition can last at most another six months... We are sorry, we’ve done our best."
"Six months?!" Although Edward Farmbright was mentally prepared, he was still shocked by this number.
"Yes, judging from the current dosage of the medication, it is already at its limit."
"What happened! You said it would be more than this before. How could it be—" Edward Farmbright couldn’t accept it, but Yuzo Joel waved his hand.
"Yacob, don’t make it difficult for the doctor. Please escort the doctor out."
Yuzo Joel closed his eyes, simply exhausted.
Edward Farmbright stayed outside for a long while. When he returned, his eyes were red. Yuzo Joel opened his eyes and looked at him with a smile.
"What’s the matter? Birth, aging, sickness, and death are all very normal, aren’t they? Do you need me to provide you with psychological counseling? Actually, that’s a good idea... I’ll get you, Kiara, and Fox Cat all together, and then I’ll give you a lesson on how to serenely face the departure of loved ones."
"Who needs you to give a lesson!" Edward Farmbright yelled.
"Alright, alright, no need for me to... Just six months, huh? Kiara’s homework isn’t done yet. Bring my notebook, I’ll plan out her coursework for the next year and a half. After I’m gone, you’ll be responsible for guiding her through her doctoral studies."
His last student was his own daughter, and it was wonderful to see her brilliance.
Seeing Edward Farmbright’s sorrowful face, Yuzo Joel comforted him.
"Everyone has their day, although this day came sooner than I expected, I have no regrets in life. Watching you all grow up and succeed, finding my long-lost daughter, you should learn from Spencer Tatum. Look at his attitude, it’s particularly good."
Spencer Tatum, who spent years abroad, had the most contact with animals and grew accustomed to the law of nature in the animal kingdom, and thus he had a detached view of life and death.
"Right! Spencer! Isn’t Spencer currently researching targeted drugs?" Edward Farmbright, as if grasping at the last straw of hope, took out his phone to call his last hope.
Yuzo Joel shook his head.
No use, Spencer’s drug would take at least another year to develop, and his body couldn’t wait that long.
