Rebirth of the Villainous Female Boss
Chapter 1480 - 1452: What’s the Gag with Buying Oranges?

Chapter 1480: Chapter 1452: What’s the Gag with Buying Oranges?

"Ryan," Matt Bailey called out to James Norris, "there’s something I need to talk to you about. Do you know that Emma Clark is dealing with being brainwashed?"

At this moment, Norris was eager to return. He had been away for too long and missed the Irresistible Crisp... and the person who would eat and drink tea with him, discussing philosophy.

"Does it have anything to do with us? The founder of that suicide organization has nothing to do with JR. Well water does not interfere with river water."

Norris became alert as Matt Bailey wheeled his chair closer, revealing a sinister smile.

"There was no relation before, but now..."

Norris felt a numbness in his body, and by the time he realized it was too late. The anesthetic needle had already been injected into him. With the last shred of his wits about him, he struggled to ask,

"What... are you... going to do..."

"Don’t be nervous, you’re just going to sleep for a bit. Daddy is about to do something quite fun that isn’t suitable for your participation. When you wake up, you’ll probably get to see that Little Girl you like..."

"Don’t you touch her!" Norris tried desperately to maintain his sanity, but his body grew weaker and the world started to spin. He fell to the side, and before passing out, he could only see Matt Bailey’s smiling face—a face that looked gentle and kind but had a devilishly cruel nature behind it.

Emma Clark... run fast...

That was the only thought in Norris’s mind before he blacked out.

Matt Bailey rang a bell, and Molly Palmer entered with some people. Matt Bailey pointed to the collapsed Norris on the ground and said,

"Take the Young Boss down, keep a good watch on him, and don’t let him out. Whoever lets him escape before our guest arrives will bear the consequences!"

"Yes!"

"Molly, stay. The rest of you, out!"

Once everyone had left, Matt Bailey gestured for Molly to come closer. She went behind him and began massaging his shoulders without being asked.

"How is that kid called Chad doing now?" Matt Bailey inquired.

"He’s been taking IQ tests continuously, the results haven’t changed much from the previous ones."

"It seems he’s a useless pawn... but even a pawn has its value."

"What are you going to do?" Molly sensed something was about to happen. From the imprisoned Young Boss to the eerie Big Boss, it seemed as though a storm was brewing.

"Heh, nothing much, just a fun game. Using a discarded piece waste can be beneficial. Maybe we’ll get an unexpected outcome," Matt Bailey said, with his hand placed over Molly’s, rubbing it back and forth.

"I think the Young Boss might not appreciate your treatment of him."

Molly thought about how Norris might react after being taken down and felt a chill. She suppressed the fear rising within her and pretended to be very gentle as she spoke.

"Whether he’s happy or not isn’t important. So-called familial bonds are just bonds of blood. Such bonds will make him willingly work for me. He’s just a useful pawn after all. I should thank Big K for leaving me such a handy piece."

"No sense of... familial bonds at all?" Molly suddenly thought of that special psychological drama.

The angel played by Aka descended from the heavens, saying she had been waiting for her to come home.

The seed of kinship was buried in Molly’s heart, accompanied by a sense of anticipation and a hint of sweetness every time she thought of it. Although deep despair followed these moments, it at least gave Molly a faint warmth in her heart whenever she thought of the word ’family’ during this time.

"Slap!" Matt raised his hand and struck Molly’s face hard, sending her tumbling backward with blood trickling from the corner of her mouth.

"You lost the Game, and I haven’t even punished you yet, and now you’ve been brainwashed with all this nonsense! Is family something you people should even discuss? Since you entered JR, you’ve lost the right to talk about family!"

"Yes, I remember," said Molly, clenching her fists. She didn’t understand why she suddenly felt an urge to kill the old man before her.

Strangely, ever since she watched the psychological drama orchestrated by Aka and Emma Clark, something had changed.

She began to fantasize about the outside world, to feel shame. Being hit or yelled at used to be of no consequence to her, but now, she had learned what humiliation and anger were.

Perhaps the kinship offered by her sister Aka had awakened the confusion in her that had been brainwashed over many years. Transitioning from darkness to dawn might not always reveal beautiful sights, but finding one’s true self before departure could still be considered a form of happiness.

Thinking about her own test results, Molly curved her lips into a peculiar smile. Wiping the blood from the corner of her mouth, she approached Matt again, collapsing gently into the arms of the devil, her eyes filled with scheming light.

Is family the most useless, unworthy luxury to long for?

Heh...

...

Kiara’s idea for a group attack to counter brainwashing was simple: she came up with a code-named game called "I’ll go buy oranges, you stay put" for those participating in a suicide game to play along with.

When the other members of the special case team saw this overly long-named plan, everyone wore confused expressions.

Buy oranges... What’s the gimmick?

Mario burst into laughter as soon as he saw it, thinking his daughter-in-law’s naming was treacherous. Wasn’t that code just a way of saying, "I am your daddy"?!

This was a major insult to the original game developers, as Mrs. Kiara imperiously announced to the world with her domineering name that you don’t mess with Mrs. Kiara’s brainwashing—she’s the ancestor, and no one else counts!

But Dr. Clark refused to admit she was showing off on purpose. Her explanation was that the phrase derived from "My Father’s Back" by Jazz Ross, where a father buying oranges represented family affection. Her anti-brainwashing game was all about returning to the warmth of family!

When everyone watched the beginning with a mocking attitude, they soon grew serious and couldn’t help but give Mrs. Kiara a silent thumbs-up. Her achievement as the Celestial Empire’s top-ranked psychologist internationally at such a young age was indeed well-deserved.

Mrs. Kiara’s idea was actually quite straightforward: to use the enemy’s tactics against them. Those people had used a chain of games to brainwash others into suicide; she also employed a chain of games to help them return to their families.

This method could brainwash everyone in the shortest amount of time, and for those who couldn’t physically come to Linville, it could be done over the internet.

While the suicide game aimed to disrupt people’s biological clocks, break down their psychological defenses, and sever the player’s connection to society, making them feel out of place in the world and considering death as their only destination, Mrs. Kiara’s game, too, was progressive and interconnected. It started with adjusting daily routines, embracing family members, joining social activities to integrate into society. It required listening to positive music daily to recondition their minds, step by step. From initially enjoying the warm sunshine of sunbathing to eventually returning home to the embrace of family, the game aimed to implant the light of kinship into the hearts of those who had been brainwashed through a series of levels.

This tactic was seamlessly effective, not only allowing the brainwashed to feel the warmth of family and return home but also showing results in those who hadn’t been brainwashed by the suicide game but had mild psychological issues and tense family relations.

Mrs. Kiara’s approach gained everyone’s approval. Despite the seemingly orderly and flourishing progress, everything was moving forward methodically, with no one realizing that danger was quietly creeping closer.
