Chapter 1459 - 1431: Don’t Take It for Granted
Chapter 1459: Chapter 1431: Don’t Take It for Granted
When Akatris rushed over, Molly Palmer was already in line.
"Molly Palmer!" Akatris ran over, panting. Molly Palmer looked at her and showed no surprise; instead, she appeared relieved.
"You finally arrived."
At that moment, Molly Palmer’s expression was calm, a stark difference from her previously twisted face. There was even a faint hint of nostalgia in her eyes when she looked at Akatris.
After that special minute, their relationship changed in an imperceptible way.
"Where are you going?" Akatris asked.
Molly Palmer glanced towards the Distant Land, "Where else can I go?"
Kiara’s words seemed to echo in her ears, "Still young upon returning."
However, there was no Home to return to.
"Don’t go, come back with me. That place is no place for humans to live!" Akatris knew that Molly Palmer was trained in such a way, and she didn’t want her to go back to the Wolf’s den.
"Go with you?"
"Yes, I spoke to the Boss. You can come to our Farmstead. Your income won’t be less than JR’s. The Farmstead has business globally; you can choose wherever you want to work, at least you won’t—" be bullied.
Akatris didn’t finish her sentence, but everyone understood.
Zoel Cohen stood by Akatris’s side, silent. He didn’t even want Akatris to come here. Given Mr. Zoel’s temperament, it was already good that he didn’t beat the Vixen, Molly Palmer.
In Zoel Cohen’s eyes, Akatris’s forgiving nature was indeed meddlesome. If Molly Palmer had an ounce of conscience, she should apologize to his daughter-in-law at once. After all, Molly Palmer had caused Akatris to develop a phobia. If not for Emma Clark, Akatris would still be afraid of her now. Akatris had generously thought of a way out for Molly Palmer; anyone who wasn’t a fool should immediately reconcile with Akatris.
But after hearing what Akatris had to say, Molly Palmer unexpectedly turned and slapped her!
The slap came so suddenly that not only Akatris didn’t see it coming, even Zoel Cohen didn’t react in time!
"What are you doing!" Mr. Zoel, seeing Akatris slapped, flew into a rage and returned the slap with much more force, causing Molly Palmer’s face to turn to one side.
"Zoel Cohen, don’t hit her!" Akatris held back Zoel Cohen, otherwise, Mr. Zoel would indeed continue hitting her.
Molly Palmer’s companions from JR stood up when they saw her being hit but were shouted back by her.
"None of you come over, this is between her and me!"
"Have you lost all sense of right and wrong? My woman is thinking of you, and this is how you repay her?" With Akatris holding him back, Mr. Zoel could only suppress his anger and question her.
"Ha, who asked her to think about me? A useless person who can’t even control herself wants to meddle in my affairs? I don’t need her! Akatris, I’m telling you, from now on we have nothing to do with each other. Pretend that I am dead, and I’ll pretend you don’t exist. I don’t want you meddling in my life ever again!"
"You’re going back to that kind of place?!" Akatris tried to grab Molly Palmer but was pushed away, and Molly Palmer looked at her with disdain.
"What kind of place? JR has given me everything I wanted. Where were you when I needed help? Now you come over with your high and mighty attitude wanting to help me, I don’t need it!"
"Before, I didn’t have the capacity, but now I—"
"Now, you just need to take care of yourself!" After saying this, Molly Palmer no longer looked at Akatris. She stood up resolutely, following the people from JR towards the security checkpoint.
Akatris was so hurt by her cold-heartedness that she stepped back. If not for Zoel Cohen’s support, she would have fallen.
She wanted to chase after her, but Zoel Cohen held her back, "If she doesn’t want to come back on her own, what do you intend to do, tie her up?"
Akatris’s eyes turned red, and just then, Molly turned her head back and looked at Akatris seriously, "Remember, from now on, I don’t need you and you have nothing to do with me!"
After making Akatris cry, Molly turned her head away to where Akatris couldn’t see and whispered softly.
"Goodbye, useless sister."
She had thought about turning back, but it was too late now, there was no shore to return to, everything was too late.
Molly held the test results in her pocket and shed a line of tears where Akatris couldn’t see.
...
The next morning, at the crack of dawn, Mario felt a soft, mushy, slightly moist sensation on his face, accompanied by the sweet scent of milk.
His profession made him more alert than the average person, so much so that even in his sleep, he wouldn’t easily allow someone to get close to him. The only ones who could get close without waking him were the mother and daughter.
Mario still had his eyes closed, but his arm shot out and pinned down the little troublemaker. Wendy was originally leaning over to kiss her dad, but she ended up with her little nose squished. She was startled at first, then pouted and was about to cry.
Daddy’s being mean!
Mario knew his daughter had a temper—just like her mother. He played the bad guy by pretending to turn over and shifted a bit, taking advantage of the fact that the baby couldn’t crawl yet.
Kiara wanted to reach out to help her daughter but saw Wendy using her hands and feet together, her plump butt cloaked in a cartoon diaper sticking up high, and then she slowly inched forward.
Kiara held her breath, fearing she was seeing things—was her daughter crawling?
Mario also felt something was off and squinted his eyes, keeping up the pretense of being half-asleep to secretly watch his daughter slowly inch toward Dad, and finally, she made it and smacked her little chubby paws on her dad’s stomach, slap!
"Willa can crawl now!" Mario sat up with a roll as if he had discovered a new world, and Kiara was also very happy.
A child’s little progress is precious to a parent, and the couple shared a joy only parents can know. Only the baby felt aggrieved, reaching out with her little paws to grab at Daddy’s stomach, but since his stomach was all muscle, it wasn’t easy to grab, so she started to fuss and cry.
Mario reached out to pick up his daughter, letting her use his stomach as a trampoline. Then Wendy turned from anger to laughter, playing happily with her daddy.
"Why did you get up so early today?" Mario asked Kiara, who usually didn’t get up earlier than him.
Actually, Kiara had barely slept all night. Ever since she laid down, she had been preoccupied with Olivia and her son’s situation, waking up at 2 a.m. and pondering until now.
"My brain was in a state of light sleep, maybe because I was too excited about the award," Kiara partially concealed the truth.
"Light sleep?" Mario casually continued playing with his daughter, meanwhile asking his wife.
"Yeah, it feels like you’re not sleeping, like your brain is still active, but actually, you’re asleep. Sometimes life is like that, some things we assume should be a certain way, but when you explain them, they’re not like that at all."
Kiara spoke with a double meaning. Mario cast her a sly glance, unsure if he had understood what she was trying to convey, so she changed the subject to their daughter.
"Did you notice, our daughter has a very strong sense of retaliation. If someone bullies her, she’ll find a way to get back at them."
"..." Isn’t that just like you? Camden dared not say it.
"When a child exhibits such behavior, there are two possibilities: one is that she has a strong sense of self-esteem and a lot of confidence, the other is that it could be a psychological twist caused by her environment. If that’s the case, we should seek professional help. It’s good to care about others, but if your care causes them distress, then it’s not suitable, right, Husband?"
Mario put his daughter down and looked calmly at Kiara, "Just say what you mean, we don’t need these negotiation tactics between us."
All right, then she would just say it.
