Chapter 296: Chapter 296: Selling and Buying a House (Second Update)
"Brother Quan, let’s have breakfast and then it should be about time," Wan Wei was very excited today; she was about to become Mrs. Xie and would have a share in the shoe factory, soon enjoying a life of ease.
Wan Wei felt thrilled no matter how she thought about it, she couldn’t sleep last night. If she wasn’t afraid of displeasing Xie Quan, Wan Wei really wished the day would break so she could drag Xie Quan to the Civil Affairs Bureau.
"Weiwei, I’ve said I would give you and the child a status, and I won’t go back on my word," Xie Quan said while changing his clothes.
Wan Wei shyly said, "Brother Quan, I’m just eager to marry you."
This pleased Xie Quan very much.
Xie Quan hurriedly had breakfast with Wan Wei and then headed to the Civil Affairs Bureau. It was just past seven o’clock, and the main gate of the bureau was still closed.
"Brother Quan, did you bring your household registration book and divorce certificate?" Wan Wei asked, fearing that Xie Quan might have forgotten something again.
"Got them." Xie Quan patted his pocket.
Wan Wei smiled sweetly and took Xie Quan’s hand, "Brother Quan, from now on, you have to treat our mother and son well."
"Okay." Xie Quan’s gaze fell on Wan Wei’s belly, which carried his son.
His parents had passed away early. Over the years, he grew up under the care of his uncle, went to college, later pursued Mo Xiaoyu. Life was tough initially but got progressively better. Since his uncle had no son, he was treated exceptionally well. However, previously when his uncle’s family had issues, he had already given money. Later, when his uncle fell ill, Xie Quan contributed financially, glanced once, and never visited again. Later, he heard it was cancer requiring a huge sum, and Xie Quan felt reluctant.
In Xie Quan’s heart, his uncle was just an uncle, not his real father. If his own father fell ill, he must seek treatment, otherwise, he would be criticized by others. But for his uncle, since he had already contributed financially, fulfilling his filial duty was enough.
In Xie Quan’s core beliefs, daughters are not considered his future generations, only sons are seen as his support in old age. He was dissatisfied that Mo Xiaoyu only gave birth to a daughter.
A daughter will eventually marry someone else, would she treat him as well as a son?
At this moment, Xie Quan never considered how Mo Xiaoyu had risked her life delivering their daughter, nearly dying on the operating table. Initially, Xie Quan felt guilty, but as the daughter grew up and Mo Xiaoyu was back to normal, his guilt slowly faded.
Xie Quan had asked Mo Xiaoyu, who always said that after cesarean birth it’d take three years before trying for another child. Gradually, Xie Quan’s entire attention shifted to Wan Wei.
Upon knowing that Wan Wei was pregnant with a son, Xie Quan decided without hesitation to be with Wan Wei.
Xie Quan took Wan Wei to several elderly traditional doctors, all confirming she carried a son. Later, Mo Xiaoyu discovered the truth, leading them to confront the situation. In his view, merely giving some money should settle matters; he didn’t expect Mo Siyu’s involvement, who even though added a bit more money, was right—considering all the possessions he bought for Wan Wei over the years, plus the factory’s good performance, the money would be quickly recovered.
Xie Quan only just facilitated the divorce yesterday.
At eight o’clock sharp,
Xie Quan and Wan Weiwei registered their marriage.
Unseen, Mo Siyu witnessed all of this, his stern face devoid of any expression.
After he returned home, he did not speak of what he had just witnessed, but instead actively helped Mo Xiaoyu sell the house.
Mo Xiaoyu’s house was not in the best location, but it was quite decent, and the house was new. Although it was an urgent sale, it sold quite easily. After negotiating the price, they sold the house in the morning.
Mo Siyu then directly asked Mo Xiaoyu where she wanted to move to, and he took Mo Xiaoyu, Tiantian, and Tang Yue to check out that area.
It was a two-hour drive from where they used to live. This area was clearly more bustling than where Mo Xiaoyu had lived before, and the buildings were not tube-shaped but commercial housing, ranging from two-bedroom units with a kitchen and bathroom to three-bedroom units.
"Sister Xiaoyu, I think Jinxiu Garden looks good." Tang Yue looked at the newly built community opposite them and compared it to the nearby houses. Although it was more expensive, the community was different from ordinary places. Moreover, the community had only one main gate and one back gate, and she heard that there were people guarding them, making it very safe.
Just a few steps away was a kindergarten, and beyond the back gate of the community was an elementary school. A little farther was a middle school, which would make it convenient for Tiantian to go to school later.
"But isn’t it too expensive?" Mo Xiaoyu hesitated. The money from the sale of the house was not enough; she would have to add half of the money from Xie Quan.
"It’s better to spend more, ensuring your safety when you live alone with the child. Besides, what if Xie Quan comes looking for you? Isn’t it easy for him to get into your house there?" Mo Siyu also thought the community was good.
The community had property management guarding the gates, which, although not very effective, was better than nothing.
"You’re overthinking it; why would he come looking for me?" Mo Xiaoyu pursed her lips and spoke irritably, not believing that Xie Quan would come find her. He was probably getting married to Wan Wei now; how could he still remember her?
Mo Siyu asked meaningfully, "Xiaoyu, what if he comes to find you, wanting to get back together with you?"
"Impossible," Mo Xiaoyu stated resolutely: "We broke up, and that’s that. Even if he wants to get back together, a shattered mirror, even when glued, will still remain riddled with holes and cannot be restored."
Mo Xiaoyu appeared gentle but was very stubborn. Once she set her mind on something, nothing could pull her back.
This was how it was when she was together with Xie Quan initially. Mo Xiaofeng and Zheng Chunhong did not think highly of it, but Mo Xiaoyu was determined and Xie Quan seemed honest. They thought that although their daughter might not live a very wealthy life, at least she wouldn’t be mistreated, so they agreed.
But who would have thought that Xie Quan, who appeared honest, was actually cruel-hearted.
Taking advantage of the evening not yet falling, Mo Xiaoyu took Tiantian to look at some of the remaining available houses in Jinxiu Garden.
Tiantian liked a second-floor apartment with a small balcony facing the greenery of the community, bustling with life. Xie Tiantian kept saying how much she loved it here.
Mo Xiaoyu gritted her teeth and then bought the apartment.
In the evening, after returning to their previous home and having dinner, they began packing. Mo Siyu said he had something to do and went out.
Tang Yue had a vague idea of what was happening, but said nothing. Instead, she helped Mo Xiaoyu start packing up the house. All of Xie Quan’s belongings were packed into boxes by Mo Xiaoyu, ready to be sent to Xie Quan’s place the next day.
On the other hand, her and Tiantian’s belongings weren’t much, besides clothes, just Tiantian’s toys. Other items, when they moved in initially, were quite rudimentary and nothing much had been purchased.
