Chapter 216: She’s Not Suitable
Chapter 216: Chapter 216: She’s Not Suitable
Tang Yue’s mind conjured an image of a haughty face, and she hesitated to ask, "You’re not talking about Zhang Minmin, are you?"
Zhang Tingyu’s smile deepened, and she affirmed with a nod, "Yes, it’s her."
"She won’t do."
Without a second thought, Tang Yue rejected the idea: "The clothing factory aims for a down-to-earth approach, and Zhang Minmin... her head is practically in the clouds. The temperament of the spokesperson must match the clothes; otherwise, the advertisement would be pointless."
"Cough." Zhang Tingyu cleared her throat. Tang Yue was right; Zhang Minmin was indeed very haughty at school, but when it came to friendliness, no one could match her.
She slowly said, "Xiao Yue, actually, Minmin has always liked imitating people on TV, and moreover, her appearance is quite outstanding, right?"
Zhang Tingyu and Zhang Minmin were first cousins, and it was said that they looked somewhat alike. Zhang Tingyu was well aware of Zhang Minmin’s strengths and weaknesses.
"Indeed, very outstanding." Tang Yue didn’t deny that.
She chuckled lightly, "Xiao Yue, you don’t have to rush to reject. Think about it, when we ate together with Minmin before, didn’t you find her quite adorable? And, Minmin is just like that at school; at home, she’s just a sweet little thing."
Zhang Tingyu shared a few funny stories about Zhang Minmin, causing Tang Yue to be frequently surprised.
At home, Zhang Minmin acted like a naive and charming young girl.
Especially Minmin, who was scared of thunder; the bit where she ran to find her mother always made Tang Yue find her exceptionally adorable and more down-to-earth.
"What do you think? Shall we let Minmin try?"
Seizing the opportunity, Zhang Tingyu spoke up; after all, it was her own cousin. Even though she seldom showed pleasantness at school, it was because Zhang Minmin didn’t love studying and often hung out with questionable friends.
"Hmm, we could let her try on our clothes." Tang Yue finally relented.
Before Zhang Tingyu could rejoice, Tang Yue added, "About this matter, don’t tell Zhang Minmin’s family just yet, let’s first see if Zhang Minmin is suitable."
"Okay."
Zhang Tingyu agreed, and that very evening, she went to find Zhang Minmin. While everyone else was studying, Zhang Minmin was still sound asleep in the dormitory.
Zhang Tingyu: ...
"Why are you here?" Awakened by the disturbance, Zhang Minmin yawned and rubbed her eyes, her voice even lazier than usual, lacking her daily arrogance.
"I have good news for you." Zhang Tingyu looked at her current state and couldn’t help but twitch her mouth: "You’re sleeping now, aren’t you going to night self-study sessions? It’s almost your senior year; can’t you put in a bit more effort?"
"Stop." As soon as Zhang Minmin heard her start on this topic, she immediately covered her head with her blanket, muffling her voice, "Just tell me what you came for."
"You get up first." Zhang Tingyu sat down by the bed.
"You say it first." Zhang Minmin turned over under the blanket, exposing just her head.
Zhang Tingyu, resigned, finally said, "Just be careful not to fall under the bed. Do you want to be on TV?"
"Psht." Zhang Minmin looked scornfully at Zhang Tingyu and ungraciously said, "I’m not a child anymore. How could I fall under the bed?"
As soon as the words were spoken, Zhang Minmin reacted belatedly, her eyes widened in astonishment as she looked at Zhang Tingyu, and she asked incredulously, "What did you just say? Something about being on TV? Did I hear it wrong?"
Zhang Minmin’s gaze was burning as she looked at Zhang Tingyu, feeling that she must have heard wrong, but her mind kept telling her that she didn’t.
"You heard right, it really is about being on TV." Zhang Tingyu confirmed decisively, she stood up, afraid that Zhang Minmin, in her excitement, would pounce on her.
"Ah..."
"Ouch."
The first voice was Zhang Minmin’s excited scream, the second one was bitter disappointment, as she forgot she was sitting on the bed and knocked her head directly into the top bunk.
"It hurts so much." Zhang Minmin quickly got up, she was wearing the same pajamas as Zhang Tingyu, which she had wheedled from her.
"Sis, you’re really not fooling me, can I really be on TV?" Zhang Minmin, barefoot, grabbed hold of Zhang Tingyu, her excited little face was glowing.
Zhang Tingyu shook off Zhang Minmin’s hand, saying, "First put on your shoes, wash your face, and change your clothes."
"Yes." Zhang Minmin, who couldn’t get up before, now moved very quickly.
In less than five minutes, Zhang Minmin washed her face, combed her hair, and changed into a beautiful outfit. Standing in front of Zhang Tingyu, she began to ask in detail: "Sis, are they looking for me to shoot a TV show?"
"You’re thinking too much." Zhang Tingyu gave her a look.
Zhang Minmin’s pretty face immediately became downcast, contrasting sharply with her previous excitement; the change was so fast that Zhang Tingyu couldn’t help but reflect on her sister’s quick shift.
"Although it’s not shooting a TV show, it is shooting a commercial." Zhang Tingyu explained: "It’s about filming a video clip of you and then broadcasting it on TV."
"Okay." Zhang Minmin’s face, which had just been sad, lit up once again.
Zhang Minmin, pulling Zhang Tingyu, hurriedly said, "Let’s go now."
"No." Zhang Tingyu hurriedly stopped her: "I just came to tell you, we still have classes tonight, who has time to go with you?"
"Sis, classes aren’t important, the commercial is." Zhang Minmin has always disliked school, and barely managed to get into top middle school, only because her parents forced her to study.
"I’ll take you on Saturday, but there’s something else I need to tell you first," Zhang Tingyu said seriously: "Minmin, they think you’re too proud, and therefore, they feel you don’t match well with their clothes. So, when you go on Saturday, you definitely can’t be like you are in school, looking down on people with your nostrils."
"Sis, do you have to speak about your own sister like that?" Zhang Minmin was embarrassed but still patted her chest and assured, "Don’t worry, sis, I’ll do exactly what they ask me to do. But, why do I have to wear their clothes?"
"Hmm, their clothes are really nice, you’ll love it." Zhang Tingyu teased.
Thus, for the next few days, Zhang Minmin followed Zhang Tingyu’s instructions, every time they returned to the dormitory, instead of playing around with Liu Fang and Zhao Wenyue, she seriously did her homework.
Tang Yue quietly observed Zhang Minmin, and couldn’t help but notice, in terms of appearance, Zhang Minmin was livelier and more energetic, while Zhang Tingyu had more of an elegant demeanor.
"How about that?" Zhang Tingyu entered the room, quietly speaking to Tang Yue with triumphant eyebrows: "Xiao Yue, I told you Minmin could do it, right?"
