Chapter 198 Mother and Son
Chapter 198: Chapter 198 Mother and Son
"Mom, I am your daughter-in-law." Wang Aihua was so embarrassed by her mother-in-law’s lecture that she wanted to argue, but realized that, seemingly, her mother-in-law was not wrong. With her temperament, if she really did go to sell clothes, she might indeed offend all the customers.
"Exactly because you are my daughter-in-law, I have to say this. If it were someone else, I wouldn’t bother at all." Granny Tang snorted coldly, speaking irritably: "Even if others lose everything, it has nothing to do with me. Don’t be shortsighted. Just because others get the goods before paying, does that mean the goods are free? Even if you don’t pay now, won’t you still have to pay later?"
Granny Tang intended to make Wang Aihua restrain her temperament. She hadn’t said much before because her own son had been disappointing, but now it was different. Tang Zhengyuan was doing quite well in the factory, and naturally, his wife should be managed properly.
"It does seem to make sense."
Thinking this way, Wang Aihua felt much more at peace. She had wanted to open a clothing store because of Liu Cuixong’s matter, but now, she slowly abandoned the idea.
"I will go to the county town tomorrow to deliver some pickled vegetables. Zheng Yuan likes to eat them," Granny Tang said, asking her to pack up some of Tang Zhengyuan’s belongings to bring along with her.
Wang Aihua went back to her room to pack, taking a while to realize that her mother-in-law’s words from before were probably meant to comfort her. It’s very possible she was going to inquire about this matter.
A gleam of excitement in her eyes, Wang Aihua thought she might not be the right person to sell clothes, but she could do other things to make money.
It would be best if her mother-in-law could find something suitable for her in the county town.
The next day, Granny Tang left for the county town after breakfast.
"Mom, why are you here?" Tang Mingli was quite surprised to see Granny Tang at the factory.
"What, I can’t come?" Granny Tang gave him a stern look.
"How could that be? I’m too happy to have Mom here." Tang Mingli helped Granny Tang sit down, poured her some tea, and asked, "Mom, have you had breakfast?"
"I have," replied Granny Tang, watching her son bustling about and asking, "Where is your wife?"
"Mom." Wei Jiajia’s voice came from the doorway, and the next moment, Wei Jiajia was seen gasping for breath, her characteristic dimpled smile appearing before her.
As soon as Wei Jiajia heard that her mother-in-law had arrived, she immediately stopped what she was doing and rushed over.
"Jiajia, don’t run so fast." Granny Tang’s gaze fell on Wei Jiajia’s belly, thinking it hadn’t been long since the wedding. Even if there was anything, it wouldn’t show yet.
"Mom." Wei Jiajia obviously felt Granny Tang’s gaze, and with a shy smile, she quickly said a few words before heading out to buy groceries. The previous time Granny Tang was here, she had just eaten breakfast, and it was noodles.
This time, Wei Jiajia naturally wanted to show off her cooking skills in front of her mother-in-law.
In the office, it was just Granny Tang and Tang Mingli, mother and son, left.
"Mingli, I won’t beat around the bush with you. I’m asking you about your brother’s sister-in-law, Xiao Jun’s aunt, who has a clothing store in Shuanghe Town, you know about that, right?" Granny Tang got straight to the point with no beating around the bush.
Yesterday, that’s why I spoke about Wang Aihua like that; naturally, I was unwilling to point out my son’s faults in front of my daughter-in-law.
"Yes." Tang Mingli paused, then solemnly said, "Mom, I’ve also thought about my sister-in-law, but she’s simply not cut out for running a shop."
Since he had promised Tang Yue, Tang Mingli had been considering mentioning this to his own mother. But these days, he was always with Jiajia. Because of the wedding matters, the factory had fallen behind on quite a few things. One delay led to another, and it dragged on until now.
"What do you think your sister-in-law is capable of doing?" Granny Tang pressed on.
Tang Mingli stammered.
Granny Tang glared at him, "What, I am your mother. Is there anything you can’t talk to me about? Rest assured, I know what kind of person your sister-in-law is. Just say it outright."
"Mom, then I’ll speak frankly, don’t get angry." Tang Mingli spoke preemptively, cleared his throat, and said earnestly, "Mom, not to mention working, as long as sister-in-law doesn’t cause trouble it would be enough. Brother is managing okay here for now. If some time passes and Brother can keep his temper and do a good job, I plan to have him learn fabric tailoring."
Fabric tailoring isn’t just something anyone can do. It takes many years to learn this skill. Like a drawing or a set of data—if you don’t understand them, even with the fabric in your hands, you’re just wasting your time.
Tang Zhengyuan is a bit older now, but if he can be patient and learn this, and stick with it, he can make quite a bit of money in the future.
"Really?" Granny Tang’s eyes immediately lit up. She had felt that the job her youngest son had arranged for the eldest was a bit poor, but now, hearing Tang Mingli’s plans, her slight dissatisfaction vanished instantly. She looked at him with mock annoyance, "Mingli, you’ve had these plans all along. Why didn’t you tell me sooner?"
"Mom." Tang Mingli replied helplessly, "If I had told you earlier, how would I have known if Brother could handle it? Fabric isn’t like a warehouse; if you cut it wrong, the losses are significant. Moreover, if Brother doesn’t properly try to manage the warehouse and is simply pushed to learn fabric tailoring, he might find it difficult and give up after a few days."
"That’s true." Granny Tang was in a good mood. At noon, she had a meal at Tang Mingli’s house, and even Tang Zhengyuan came over for the meal. Listening to Tang Mingli’s words, Granny Tang didn’t tell Tang Zhengyuan but just urged him to work hard in the factory.
Maybe it was because of her good mood, or perhaps because Wei Jiajia was an excellent cook, Granny Tang was full of praise, saying that Tang Mingli had married a good daughter-in-law.
Only Tang Zhengyuan ate his meal with a touch of bitterness, while Tang Mingli’s family enjoyed their time together in harmony.
There’s even less to say about Tang Zhengde’s family. Since Tang Zhengde and Zhang Hualian’s marriage, there hadn’t been a single quarrel.
But between him and Wang Aihua, since their marriage, they hadn’t fought every three days and argued every five, but there would always be a few arguments each month.
At first, when Wang Aihua went back to her parents’ house, he would eagerly go to pick her up, but later, after Wang Aihua stayed at her parents’ for a few days, she would just come back on her own.
Previously, he thought that this was just how life was, with Tang Zhengde and Zhang Hualian just because Tang Zhengyuan pampered Zhang Hualian. But now, looking at Tang Mingli’s family, he felt he might have been wrong.

"Tang Xian, come help me hang the laundry." Wang Aihua yelled into the house, murmuring, "It’s rare for you to come back, sleeping till so late. Don’t you sleep in at school?"
