Chapter 165: Chapter 165: Mingyue Clothing Factory (Eight Updates)
Tang Mingli brought the goods back to Wangjiang County and immediately started bustling about in the factory. All the master cutters had arrived; the warehouse was filled with piles of cut cloth, and now they were just waiting for the sewing workers to come over tomorrow to start making clothes.
That evening, Tang Yue, Tang Mingli, and their family were all in the factory, along with Uncle Gen and the Deng Lanhua family. Everyone gathered for a lively dinner together.
The night was thick with laughter and chatter coming from Mingyue Clothing Factory, carrying hopes for a bright future.
The morning sun rose from the east, the first rays of sunshine illuminating the earth, and golden glows were spread over every corner of Mingyue Clothing Factory.
Tang Yue and Tang Jun had come to the factory early, bringing breakfast with them. Tang Mingli was already inspecting everywhere in the factory, fearing that he might have missed something that would prevent the factory from starting work normally.
"Little uncle, have something to eat first." Tang Yue handed over steamed buns and tea eggs, saying, "Little uncle, today let the workers sew the clothes. Each person does one part of the process, and a piece of clothing can be made quickly."
"Mm, I hope our start of work goes smoothly today." Tang Mingli said excitedly. At the entrance to Mingyue Clothing Factory, long strings of firecrackers had already been laid out. Tang Zhengde and his wife had even closed their business for a day, just to give a bit of help on the first day of the factory’s operation.
"Good morning, Boss Tang."
One after another, even before the agreed time of 8 a.m., many workers had already arrived. Everyone looking at the long firecrackers at the entrance, and then at the words ’Mingyue Clothing Factory’, were thinking that they would have a stable job from now on, and their hearts were all filled with excitement.
At 8:18 a.m., an auspicious time, the sound of firecrackers erupted. Under Tang Mingli’s command, the workers were all ready to start making clothes.
There were ten groups, and at the start of each group, a piece of clothing was laid out. Tang Yue and Deng Lanhua explained carefully to everyone the techniques for sewing.
The first group started their movements. Each sewing machine was tasked with a fixed operation.
For instance, the person sewing collars would just keep sewing collars, the person hemming trousers would just keep hemming, eliminating the need for one person to complete an entire set of processes, which would greatly improve the efficiency of making clothes.
Tang Yue and Deng Lanhua split the task of teaching the remaining groups how to make the clothes, and soon after, the workshop was filled with the sound of sewing machines.
Everyone was brimming with confidence, thinking that the more work they did, the better the factory’s benefits would be, which meant good news for them; it indicated they would be able to earn money every month.
When the first finished product was completed, Tang Mingli saw a promising future for the clothing factory.
In just one morning, there were already many finished garments.
At noon, there was more than an hour for lunch. Tang Mingli had specifically invited a couple to cook lunch for the factory workers.
After lunch, they resumed work.
Tang Mingli wandered here and there, making sure the first day of work went smoothly. While some minor adjustments were needed, the overall direction remained unchanged.
"Xiao Yue, how many clothes do you think can be made in one day?" Tang Mingli looked at the pile of clothes in the warehouse. Although he had not counted them, there were at least several hundred – and this was just one day’s work.
"Little uncle, this is still considered a small amount. Just think, today is the first day we started work and everyone is not yet skilled. Moreover, we wasted some time in the morning. Once things stabilize after a period, making a thousand pieces a day will be the least." Tang Yue conservatively estimated that a hundred pieces per group should not be a problem.
"No, I’m going to check today to see if they want to pick up the goods." The sight of the clothes piled up in the warehouse made Tang Mingli anxious.
"Little uncle, don’t be in such a rush, it’s only the first day." Tang Yue quickly grabbed Tang Mingli as he was about to dash out just before dinner. She reassured him, saying, "Little uncle, don’t worry. Someone from the county will definitely come tomorrow to purchase clothes."
Tang Yue firmly said.
"Besides, you are going to go see people at night, and they will take delivery and sell clothes?" Tang Yue countered.
Tang Mingli then realized that he was indeed a bit flustered.
"Our clothes look good and are also of good quality. Look, even though it’s the first time making them, their stitches are quite well done." Tang Yue had been very strict with quality control all day long.
No matter how many clothes were made, without quality, they were useless. So, on the first day of production, she had made it clear that it was okay to work slowly, but the most important thing was quality – the clothes had to be well made.
The next day, the clothing store owners Tang Yue had previously invited came over, and she showed them the clothes.
Even before Tang Yue mentioned the price, those store owners were eager to stock up.
A few of the owners had stores not only in Wangjiang County but also in other counties.
After seeing the clothes, they immediately placed orders.
Since production had just started, there weren’t many styles. But the finished ones looked very stylish, at least not available in the market.
Local store owners placed a substantial order, and Tang Yue and Tang Mingli discussed that after producing goods for seven to eight days, they would hire a truck to take the clothes directly to the city where a larger market awaited.
The first day, the output was 500 pieces.
The second day, the yield rose to 700 pieces.
On the third day, the output neared a thousand pieces.
By the eighth day, nearly ten thousand pieces of clothing were taken to the city in a truck.
Tang Yue and Tang Mingli, the uncle and nephew, went to handle this while asking Deng Lanhua to take care of the factory.
On the way to the city, Tang Mingli’s heart was uneasy. So many clothes, once sold, would yield a considerable profit.
The uncle and nephew had settled on prices for all the clothes. Looking at the prices, Tang Mingli felt that perhaps they were set a bit high.
"Little uncle, our styles are absolutely unique in the market. This alone justifies a slightly higher price," Tang Yue analyzed, then reminded him, "Little uncle, don’t voluntarily drop the price when you sell today."
"Okay." Tang Mingli nodded, deciding to listen to Tang Yue’s advice for the day.
When they arrived in the city and it was already bright out, Tang Yue and Tang Mingli parked the truck at the entrance of the wholesale market. Claiming the identity of factory direct sales, the clothes had hardly been displayed when many people started asking about the prices.
Those who came to the wholesale market were there to stock up on clothes. Tang Yue’s clothes had attractive styles and good quality. Despite being a bit more expensive than other stores, the quality and styles were appealing. Nowadays, people’s lives are getting better, and they are willing to wear nicer clothes.
