Chapter 137: Chapter 137 - What You Said (Five Updates)

"Uncle Mo, I’ve brought you some food." Tang Yue held up the food containers, two boxes, one double-layered for food, the other single-layered for soup.

Tang Yue set the boxes on the table next to her. As soon as she opened them, the fragrant smell wafted out, instantly whetting the appetite.

"Did you make this?" Mo Siyu raised an eyebrow. The chicken soup was golden and rich, and the dishes in the box were well combined and colorful - scrambled eggs with tomatoes, stir-fried celery and beansprouts, and braised pork.

"Aunt Mo said you shouldn’t eat spicy food these days, so I didn’t add any chili," explained Tang Yue. She loved spicy food, and looking at these dishes without chili, she thought she would need some chili to make it tasty enough for her.

"I might not have made it very tasty." Tang Yue said as she picked up the lunch box and handed it over.

Mo Siyu took it from her, asking, "Have you eaten?"

"I’ve eaten." Tang Yue replied without hesitation.

Mo Siyu looked deeply at her. He, too, loved spicy food. Seeing these non-spicy dishes, his dark eyebrows contracted almost imperceptibly.

He picked a piece of braised pork; it tasted quite good. The fat was just right, melting in the mouth with all the flavors absorbed into the meat, rich but not greasy.

Mo Siyu raised his eyebrows and praised, "Not bad, I’m in for a treat from now on."

"Thank you for the compliment." Tang Yue quietly sighed in relief. Holding the chicken soup, she placed a spoon beside it and said, "This chicken was bought by Aunt Mo. Most of it is here, and the small remaining part went to my little uncle."

"You haven’t eaten?" Mo Siyu asked back, having nearly finished his meal without even realizing, even though the dishes were not spicy.

"This chicken soup, you drink half, the rest is mine," Mo Siyu demanded in an authoritative tone, making it hard for anyone to refuse.

Tang Yue’s mouth twitched, saying, "Uncle Mo, I had some yesterday. If I have more, I’ll turn into a ball."

Mo Siyu glanced at her and said, "Too skinny."

Tang Yue: ...

Mo Siyu finished his meal cleanly, poured some chicken soup into his rice box, leaving half for Tang Yue.

Before Tang Yue could refuse, Mo Siyu’s dark eyes swept over, saying, "Do I need to feed you?"

Tang Yue quickly shook her head and promptly finished the remaining soup.

Mo Siyu’s lips slightly lifted.

After the meal, Mo Siyu asked, "About the question last time, you haven’t answered yet."

Tang Yue tried to pretend she didn’t know.

Mo Siyu reminded her slowly, word by word.

"My mom really likes you, how about we turn this pretend play into reality, and clear up the misunderstanding for real?"

This sentence had been lingering in Tang Yue’s ears for several days. Suddenly hearing it again, she completely forgot the answer she had thought of that morning, just staring blankly at him.

"Xiao Yue, after getting married, I could stick to just one route, so we won’t be apart for long," Mo Siyu got straight to the point.

Tang Yue blurted out, "I’m only seventeen."

Mo Siyu had a smile at the corner of his mouth, his words meaningful, "After the New Year, you’ll be eighteen."

"I..." Tang Yue’s mind was a mess, and though she had her words ready on the tip of her tongue, she couldn’t recall them at all. Her bright eyes looked at him; in her previous life, as she lay dying, she had hoped to spend another lifetime by his side.

Now that her wish was almost coming true, Tang Yue felt it was too surreal.

Tang Yue bit her lower lip hard, a spark of inspiration flashed through her mind, and the answer she had thought of that day surged up, she quickly said: "I won’t date or be in a relationship before high school."

"You said before, that girls should respect and love themselves, and shouldn’t be in a relationship before high school," Tang Yue stated word by word, steadfastly looking at him with an expression that said ’it was clearly you who mentioned it.’

Mo Siyu: ...

Seeing him not speaking, Tang Yue reminded him: "It’s the day we went to Brother Qi’s for dinner, Uncle Mo was drunk, and you walked me home."

Mo Siyu said solemnly, "But I didn’t say you can’t get married."

"Pfft~"

If Tang Yue was drinking tea at that moment, she would have probably spat it all out.

"Even next year when I turn eighteen, I still wouldn’t be of age," Tang Yue quickly said. "Uncle Mo, it’s encouraged to marry and have children late in life now, we can’t go against the marriage law."

Mo Siyu’s eyes instantly darkened.

As soon as Tang Yue thought of this, her mood lightened, and before she could smile, Mo Siyu’s voice rang out again: "The marriage law doesn’t state that you can’t get engaged if you’re under twenty, right?"

Tang Yue’s smile suddenly froze, her lips forming a straight line, her bright eyes rounding as she puffed her cheeks, counting with her fingers: "Uncle Mo, the first time we met was in Xiaobei Village, the second time in the alley at school, the third time on the outskirts of the Provincial City, all told, this is only the fourth time we’ve met."

"I remember very clearly," Mo Siyu’s meaningful gaze made Tang Yue’s face flush.

Tang Yue explained: "I just...have a good memory, see, it’s only the fourth time we’ve met, who gets engaged after meeting just four times?" Tang Yue’s suspicious eyes swept over him back and forth: "Uncle once said you are indifferent to women, could it be that Aunt Mo harassed you until you just randomly pulled me in to make up the numbers?"

Tang Yue had considered this idea, but felt it wasn’t right, Mo Siyu had remained single his whole last life, it was said that even before he became a wealthy man, the daughter of a rich man wanted to marry Mo Siyu, yet he never agreed.

That rich man’s daughter, anyone marrying her could arguably reduce their struggle by at least ten years, if not thirty years, not to mention that she was beautiful too.

’Chi’

Mo Siyu’s eyes flashed with a strong confidence, saying, "If I don’t want to marry, nobody can force me."

Mo Siyu’s aura was naturally powerful, and now these dark, confident eyes shone even brighter, irresistibly captivating.

Tang Yue couldn’t help but be lovestruck.

Suddenly, Mo Siyu’s handsome face loomed larger.

Tang Yue jumped in shock, her hand instinctively pushed Mo Siyu, and only afterwards did she remember he was injured, she hurried forward wanting to make sure he wasn’t hurt by her shove.

However, her foot slipped, and Tang Yue plunged towards Mo Siyu, her lips landing on his chest.

A light chuckle from Mo Siyu came from above her head: "Xiao Yue, after we get engaged, my body is yours to kiss as much as you want."

’Boom.’

Tang Yue belatedly realized what had happened, her whole being, inside and out, no longer felt like her own, she fled swiftly, even forgetting to take her lunch box with her.

Mo Siyu lifted his hand to the spot she had kissed, the warm, soft touch seemingly still carrying her faint fragrance, his eyes deepened, his lips curving slightly upwards.
