Chapter 122: Chapter 122 Cooperation

"I got to know Boss Wen through my sister and brother-in-law before. He runs a big business, not very old, but quite reputable, and his prices aren’t exceptionally high either," Wei Jiajia said, adding, "Today is Monday, we should be able to meet Boss Wen if we go to his factory."

This was something she had just thought of this morning. Usually, she would visit on a Monday, and sometimes she had to wait if she came at another time.

Since today is a Monday, why not give it a go? Visiting Boss Wen first was indeed a very good choice.

"Xiao Yue, I think we should visit both the cloth factory and the sewing machine factory. How about we talk about sewing machines first?" Tang Mingli asked for Tang Yue’s opinion.

"I think either is fine, Uncle. Did Brother Deng already make arrangements with the cloth factory?" Tang Yue agreed.

"No, we can go to the cloth factory anytime," replied Deng Yong.

The group decided to visit the sewing machine factory.

Wei Jiajia, who had accompanied her brother-in-law a few times, skillfully led the way to the place. The sewing machine factory was quite big. From the outside, it might not be as impressive as the factories in later ages, but for 1987, it was already considered sizable.

As they entered the sewing machine factory and headed straight to the main office building, Tang Yue had some confidence in her heart. For such a large factory, their initial plan to purchase a hundred sewing machines should pose no problem.

With Wei Jiajia’s guidance and the purpose of doing business, Wen Yuejin soon appeared in front of them, dressed in a crisp suit and shiny leather shoes. His eyes were small, and with a smile, they crinkled into a line. His short, dark hair was also neatly styled with mousse.

"Boss Wen," Wei Jiajia introduced, "These are my friends, Tang Mingli and his niece Tang Yue. They have come to do business with you."

Wei Jiajia herself was in sales and spoke very eloquently.

Tang Yue greeted him with a smile and then listened attentively without further comment.

Wen Yuejin, as Wei Jiajia had said, gave a very favorable price when he heard they wanted a hundred machines.

The price was even lower than what they had previously found out.

"Boss Wen, if we purchase these sewing machines, who will transport them to Wangjiang County?" inquired Tang Mingli.

Transporting a hundred sewing machines to Wangjiang County would entail considerable shipping costs.

"Of course, my side will cover everything. And naturally, if there is any issue with the machines, I will correct it promptly," Wen Yuejin assured them earnestly. A hundred sewing machines were not an exceptionally large order for him, but it was a moderate one.

Usually, people who bought from them only took dozens of machines at a time, and there had never been someone who took a hundred in one go.

Having agreed on the price, they then began to discuss the details.

When Tang Yue occasionally spoke up, she raised pointed and direct questions.

The conversation went on, and as they dealt with the contract, there was even more to look over. Tang Mingli reviewed it first, then Tang Yue. Both uncle and niece were very thorough, finalizing the details with Boss Wen, and by the time the deal was sealed, it was already four in the afternoon.

From discussing cooperation, to examining and testing machines, and finally, discussing the contract.

As they left Wen Yuejin’s factory, both Tang Mingli and Tang Yue felt very relaxed. Now that they had settled on the machines, only the fabric was left. Once the old factory at home was slightly sorted out, they could start their garment factory.

For dinner, Tang Mingli played host and invited everyone to join him for the meal.

Seeing that they had finalized the machines in just one day, Deng Yong felt even more confident about visiting the cloth factory the next day.

He had been to that factory many times; not only did it offer a wide variety of fabrics, but the prices were also very attractive.

Deng Yong was no fool; seizing this opportunity, he would not let go easily. If the cloth factory agreement was successfully concluded, the money he would earn in the future was sure to be much more than what he was making now. If their garment factory needed more fabric later on, this business would become an ongoing source of income.

Deng Yong valued this cooperation very much, even though he was only one of the initiators.

Starting from seven in the morning, Tang Mingli and the others visited four or five cloth factories, all of which were Deng Yong’s regular partners and his own suppliers.

"Xiao Yue, I think both Xinglong Cloth Factory and Fulaibu Factory are pretty good."

Having seen several factories, these two stood out in their own ways. Xinglong Cloth Factory had better fabric and more patterns, but it was slightly more expensive.

Fulaibu Factory had fewer patterns but was cheaper.

"If we’re really going to cooperate, their quoted prices will naturally have to be pushed down," Tang Yue analyzed. "We will be buying fabric in larger quantities after all."

"If we want to negotiate prices, we’ll have to talk to the factory manager," Deng Yong spoke up.

That afternoon, Deng Yong took them to Fulaibu Factory first. A smaller variety of patterns wasn’t a problem. As long as the styles were good, they could get started initially, and if the price was cheaper and the quality the same, they would surely choose Fulaibu Factory.

They had just arrived at Fulaibu Factory, and as soon as Deng Yong mentioned he wanted to discuss fabric purchases with the factory manager, Manager Niu was displeased, saying, "Deng Yong, you usually only take so little stock from here, is it necessary to bother the factory manager?"

"Manager Niu, my friend is planning to set up a garment factory and is looking to buy a large quantity of stock, so about the price..." Deng Yong said with a smile, not taking Manager Niu’s words to heart and lowering his own posture in an ingratiating manner. If this deal went through, he would also stand to profit.

Manager Niu was arrogant, looking down his nose at Tang Mingli and Tang Yue, who were both very young. Although they were well-dressed, they didn’t look like they were going to set up a garment factory.

"How big of a garment factory are you planning to run?" Manager Niu scrutinized them, his contempt evident in his gaze. Despite their good looks, you can’t eat off of appearances.

"How much stock are you planning to purchase for your garment factory?" Manager Niu asked impatiently. "If you want to speak to the factory manager, the order must at least reach this amount."

Manager Niu held out a hand and then stated a number.

Deng Yong fell silent at once. With his current ability, he couldn’t even afford one percent of that number, let alone the whole amount. Swallowing hard, he looked to Tang Mingli.

"Uncle, let’s go," said Tang Yue bluntly, without a second thought.

"Let’s go," Tang Mingli agreed.

"Deng Yong, don’t just bring anyone to me next time," Manager Niu said unhappily, thinking that they were intimidated by the quantity.
