Chapter 119: Chapter 119 Deng Yong (Second Update)
"Xiao Yue, where shall we go first?" Tang Mingli looked at the vastness of Shenzhen. Without mentioning anything else, the train station alone was far more imposing than in Provincial City. Seeing them carrying their bundles, many people came up to chat, speaking in Shenzhen’s dialect. Tang Mingli defensively turned them down.
He couldn’t even distinguish east from west, let alone know who to ask.
"Let’s look for a bus," Tang Yue’s gaze was searching. If she remembered correctly, there was a bus station right outside the train station.
Wei Jiajia agreed, "That’s right. Let’s go find a bus now. The place you mentioned—let’s go see it and figure out which bus to take."
Wei Jiajia had been here many times and confidently led the uncle and niece to find the bus, successfully getting on board.
Tang Mingli was seeing a two-section electric bus for the first time and was momentarily astonished. However, seeing that neither Wei Jiajia nor Tang Yue showed any surprise, he tried to remind himself that Shenzhen and Provincial City were very different. He shouldn’t compare everything with Provincial City.
Nor should he make a big fuss about it.
Indeed, Tang Mingli spent the following time observing more than speaking.
Wei Jiajia introduced the places she knew, even mentioning where she restocked her goods, located in the same area as Deng Yong. Although in the same area, it might still require a bus ride to get there.
They headed straight for the address Deng Lanhua had given them. Tang Mingli’s responsibility was to protect Tang Yue and Wei Jiajia, while the two women were in charge of navigating.
Since disembarking the train, they had been so busy they had forgotten about breakfast. It wasn’t until they got near where Deng Yong lived that Tang Yue’s stomach began to grumble with hunger.
Tang Mingli made an immediate decision to have breakfast first.
Each person enjoyed a bowl of hot wonton soup, the steamy wontons making them break into a sweat. Tang Mingli verified the address with Tang Yue several times before finally locating the tube-shaped apartment building where Deng Yong lived.
Inside the tube-shaped building, there were many floors, clothes drying densely on each layer. The rooms seemed small, and houses were built everywhere. Compared to the spaciousness of the county, it was very crowded here, as if there were people everywhere.
"Xiao Yue, Jiajia, how about you wait for me downstairs?" Tang Mingli inquired.
Tang Yue shook her head, "No, we’ll go up together."
It was always better to stick together than to get separated. Besides, they had come to find Deng Yong, and now that they had arrived, there was no need to wait downstairs.
They went up to the third floor, to the seventh room. Tang Mingli, with a nervous heart, knocked on the door.
"Who is it?" A woman’s voice came from inside.
Tang Mingli had a sinking feeling in his heart.
Tang Yue immediately stepped forward to speak, "Are you Deng Lanhua’s sister-in-law? We’re here on behalf of Deng Lanhua to find her older brother, Deng Yong."
The door opened, revealing a round face with round eyes, and somewhat dark skin, with blackheads on her nose; she was holding a child in her arms.
"Lanhua sent you? Are you Tang Yue and Tang Mingli?" Wu Lian was feeding the child, and upon seeing three people standing there, she immediately asked. Weren’t they supposed to be just two people?
"Yes, I’m Tang Yue, this is my uncle Tang Mingli, and this is my aunt, Wei Jiajia." Tang Yue explained, pinching Wei Jiajia’s hand and signaling her not to speak.
Wei Jiajia’s face flushed all of a sudden. She quickly glanced at Tang Mingli, and at that moment, Tang Mingli looked at her. Their eyes met, sparks flying, and she quickly lowered her head, her heart pounding wildly, as if it might leap out of her chest.
"Oh, come on in." Wu Lian warmly invited them in. She gave the cooked potatoes she was holding to a child before saying, "Dayong has gone out and isn’t back yet. You guys might as well wait here?"
"Okay." Tang Yue quickly replied, while handing over the things Deng Lanhua asked her to bring. "Sister-in-law, these are clothes made by Sister Deng for you and the children. She told me I must bring them over."
"These fruits and such are a small token from my uncle and me." Tang Yue gestured for Tang Mingli to hand over the fruits.
Wu Lian looked at the two beautiful sets of clothes, and two Kaisime-made sweaters, white sweaters, all hand-knitted by Deng Lanhua. Her child was just over a year old, and by the time autumn and winter come, wearing these soft sweaters would be just right for the child.
"Sister Lanhua is always so polite." Wu Lian busied herself pouring tea and asking them to sit down, looking at their fruits and said hurriedly, "You didn’t have to bring so much. I know that you two have helped Sister Lanhua to sell quite a bit of fabric."
Wu Lian had heard a few things from Deng Yong, that Tang Yue and Tang Mingli were invaluable to Deng Lanhua. If there was a chance to cooperate in the future, that would be even better.
Thinking this way, Wu Lian became even more enthusiastic.
"I want to eat, I want to eat." The child, seeing the fruits, immediately started squirming, wanting to eat.
Tang Yue chatted with Wu Lian while also playing with the child. Tang Mingli, being the only man, didn’t have much to contribute and stood waiting at the doorway.
Wei Jiajia hadn’t recovered from the address of ’little aunt’ and thus hadn’t spoken until her eyes fell on the two beautiful pieces of clothing. With her years of experience in the clothing industry, she knew that these clothes would definitely be profitable if they were made.
Wei Jiajia wanted to ask a few questions, but since Wu Lian was there, she suppressed the excitement in her heart, regretting internally that she didn’t look at what Tang Yue brought on the train earlier.
Wei Jiajia thought so, wishing time would pass more quickly.
It was almost noon when Deng Yong returned. He bore a resemblance to Deng Lanhua by five points, but his features were more masculine, and he was quite tall. Seeing Tang Mingli standing at his doorstep, he recognized him instantly and asked, "Are you Tang Mingli?"
In the fast-food restaurant near the apartment building, Tang Mingli ordered several dishes. No matter what, this matter involved cooperation between two families.
Wei Jiajia still worried whether it would be inappropriate for her to listen, but Tang Yue quietly said, "Sister Jiajia, don’t worry. Since my uncle asked you to come, he surely won’t exclude you from listening."
Wei Jiajia’s face turned red again.
Tang Yue did not speak further. Before they came, she had already discussed with her uncle about talking over the fabric first, then inquiring about the sewing machine.
Tang Mingli had sold clothes for such a long time that he had developed quite a way with words. Through the meal, Tang Mingli and Tang Yue also generally figured out that Deng Yong was reliable, not someone who made empty promises without taking action.
After lunch, Tang Mingli followed Deng Yong to look at his fabric shop. His shop wasn’t big, and he was actively delivering fabric to various factories every day, then making some profit from it.
Deng Yong relied on being hardworking and willing to endure hard times. As for some stock that had been pressed for too long, he would take some back to Deng Lanhua, helping his sister while also clearing some inventory.
