Chapter 268: Creating Chaos

Chapter 268: Chapter 268: Creating Chaos

Ma Yanmei was heartbroken. When they set off, her leader had given her US$ 1,500. After just one outing, she had spent US$ 1,050, leaving only US$ 450 in her pocket.

Wan Chu’er saw Ma Yanmei tightly gripping the money with a pained expression. After thinking for a moment, she reached out and asked for another US$ 50 from her, which she exchanged with the driver for some local currency of country K.

Spending US Dollars here was really not economical.

They then had the driver take them to a location half an hour away from the dock by car.

After getting out of the car, they watched the driver drive away.

Ma Yanmei determined the direction and pointed to a building outline not far away, "Let’s head there."

Wan Chu’er followed her.

It was an abandoned building, which seemed to have been a warehouse before.

The two climbed to the highest point of the building where they could look out over the lights of the dock.

Wan Chu’er sat down on the spot, opened her laptop, and her fingers began to fly over the keyboard.

"Call Lao Tian and the others and ask how things are going," Wan Chu’er said. "Be careful not to give away our location. Just say we are at the hotel and can’t sleep because we are worried."

Ma Yanmei glanced at her; her head did not lift from the computer screen bathed in a faint blue glow, highlighting her serious expression.

After pondering for a while, Ma Yanmei moved a bit away from Wan Chu’er and dialed Li Zheng’s phone number.

A little while later, she came back.

Her tone was complicated, "You were right. Tonight, people in K country have already started protesting in front of the M country embassy in the capital. A group has also headed to the port where the M country’s naval base is located to protest."

Wan Chu’er continued rapidly typing on the keyboard, her eyes swiftly scanning before she eventually asked,

"When do you usually undertake operations? Around 1 or 2 AM? Between 2 and 3 AM? Or between 4 and 5 AM? It’s five minutes to midnight now.

I estimate the protesters will take another hour to reach the dock. The most chaotic time should be between 1 and 2 AM, but the slackest time will probably be around 2:30 AM."

Ma Yanmei stayed silent, just watching intently as Wan Chu’er, her face illuminated by the rapidly flashing data on the computer screen that she could not understand.

After watching for a while, she looked around, moved a table with two legs in front of Wan Chu’er to block her from view, and then found a concealed corner to hide in the darkness, vigilantly watching her surroundings.

An hour later, they suddenly heard a noisy commotion from afar.

Ma Yanmei immediately tensed, used her Night Vision Goggles to look in that direction, and saw a disorderly crowd holding banners and signs heading towards the dock.

She breathed a slight sigh of relief, glanced at Wan Chu’er who was obscured by the table, then turned her head to focus on the crowd.

After the crowd had passed, she couldn’t help but pin greater hopes on Wan Chu’er, hoping her decision tonight was the right one.

Wan Chu’er continued pounding on the keyboard, her brows furrowing tighter.

This military system was indeed formidable. She had tried various methods but couldn’t infiltrate their system silently, as that would mean effectively installing eyes and ears inside their operation.

She glanced at the time; it was now 1:30 AM. The dock should be getting lively.

Ma Yanmei moved over and asked cautiously, "How is it going? Can the power at the dock be cut?"

Wan Chu’er: "...Yes, I can cut it whenever you want. Do you want to do it now?"

Ma Yanmei: "...Then why are you still tapping away relentlessly? The sound is making my heart race."

"I want to hack into the Black Panther Team’s military system to take a look."

Ma Yanmei gasped and turned to stare at Wan Chu’er in disbelief, "Can you really hack into it?"

Wan Chu’er said, "Time is too tight. This computer’s performance is somewhat low, making it impossible to infiltrate without being detected. I’m afraid they would discover us within a minute of our entry."

Ma Yanmei exhaled slowly. She really regarded Wan Chu’er as a god, especially since military systems are the most heavily guarded, let alone M country’s military systems, which are world-class.

"However, if we can’t get in, I can cripple it. If I can’t use it, neither can they!" Wan Chu’er stated calmly.

Sss—

Ma Yanmei inhaled sharply and said, "Let’s turn off the power first, we can see how things play out and then hack their system."

Wan Chu’er nodded and then tapped the keyboard lightly, "Done."

Ma Yanmei then saw the lights at the distant pier dim abruptly.

She said, "I’m going to check out the pier. Stay here. I’ll call you or come back to find you. Listen for my message before you crash the Black Panther Team’s military system."

We are still too far from the pier, and we have no clue what’s happening there.

Wan Chu’er blinked, really wanting to say that she also wanted to go.

"Bang, bang, bang!"

Suddenly, three gunshots came from the direction of the pier.

Ma Yanmei pushed Wan Chu’er down, and both of them lay flat on the roof, clinging to the ground, motionless for a long time.

After a long wait, no further gunshots were heard.

Was it because of the power outage? Were those warning shots?

Wan Chu’er could feel her heart pounding in her chest. This was the first time she heard gunshots.

Ma Yanmei said, "You stay here and don’t move. There’s a handgun in your bag. If there’s any danger, start shooting. I’ll call you, just follow the orders."

As she saw her ready to leave, Wan Chu’er grabbed her, "Sister Ma, can you bring me along? I also know martial arts."

Ma Yanmei firmly shook her head, "No, it’s too dangerous at the pier right now, you are not suited to go."

It’s not about fighting. In this situation, it’s about comprehensive qualities. Although Wan Chu’er’s martial arts are decent, she hasn’t been trained in other areas. She would probably be exposed quickly.

Wan Chu’er reluctantly nodded.

Ma Yanmei said uneasily, "Remember, you are here to support, not to create chaos. Staying here waiting for my signal is how you support. If you act on your own and go to the pier, getting discovered by the enemy, that would just cause trouble for our country!"

These words were quite heavy. Seeing Ma Yanmei’s serious expression, Wan Chu’er quickly nodded, "I understand, I can distinguish priority. Go there and come back quickly, be careful."

Ma Yanmei then left, quickly disappearing in the direction of the pier under the cover of darkness.

At the pier.

The Black Panther Team’s military base was surrounded by a group of people from K country, with various protest voices and even some picking up stones to throw inside.

The K country soldiers, fully armed, coldly stared at the crowd outside the yellow line, their machine guns chillingly aimed at the people.

Nearby on the sea, a large cargo ship was anchored.

In a dark corner not far away, Jiang Kechu and two others were scattered hiding.

They patiently waited for the right moment.

Suddenly, the entire pier plunged into darkness, then gunshots rang out.

Jiang Kechu and the two remained motionless, but they were inwardly pleased.

The more chaos, the better for them. They just didn’t know how long the power would be out.
