Chapter 263: I Want to Go, I’m Willing to Go

Chapter 263: Chapter 263: I Want to Go, I’m Willing to Go

"I object."

Without a second thought, Jiang Kechu directly opposed the idea, his voice cold and ruthless.

All eyes turned to him again; the senior officers and leaders were puzzled, while in his old superior’s gaze, there was a trace of gravity.

Jiang Kechu said calmly, "Firstly, Country K is a small nation, which has minimal influence on Country M. It’s doubtful that Country K can contribute much to this matter, especially considering it’s about the former president, who retired five years ago. His influence is even more questionable;

Secondly, the situation is severe, and an ordinary female student’s role would be negligible, if not none. Our time is of the essence, and we cannot afford to waste it here;

Thirdly, we will ensure the completion of our mission and the retrieval of those items."

Jiang Kechu spoke very calmly, seemingly without personal bias, just objectively stating the facts.

However, everyone here had meticulous minds and seasoned methods, not so easily swayed by Jiang Kechu’s seemingly logical arguments to swiftly come to a decision.

Finally, the head of the Military Department declared, "This matter is of great importance. We cannot allow any loss, even if there’s a one in ten thousand chance of help, we must prepare fully.

Go find that girl, explain the significant benefits to her, and do your utmost to gain her agreement. You have one hour, and you will depart in one hour."

With the commander’s gavel fallen, as a military man, Jiang Kechu could no longer object. All he could do was carry out his orders.

He left the secret office, and his old superior patted his shoulder heavily, then said, "The overall situation must come first."

"Yes."

Then Jiang Kechu messaged Wan Chu’er, asking for her location.

He would personally seek her out, the only leverage he could negotiate.

Jiang Kechu briefed Wan Chu’er roughly on the situation, then, trying to keep any personal feelings at bay, said, "So, this matter, if you refuse, then it’s as if it never existed."

Privately, Jiang Kechu did not wish for Wan Chu’er to get involved.

Each mission carried inherent risks, and this one was particularly tricky. He not only had to travel far to Country K but also face the Seal Team from Country M.

He hoped Wan Chu’er could live a happy and safe life on campus.

Wan Chu’er peered out the window. Yes, it was daytime, the sun was directly overhead, everything seemed so normal.

But how did her life suddenly get entangled with such a national issue?

Moreover, she had to depart for Country K in an hour!

She swallowed hard, struggling to smile: "Uncle Jiang, are you sure you’re not joking with me?"

Jiang Kechu silently shook his head.

This is real?

Why hadn’t she encountered this in her past life?

Wan Chu’er had intended to pinch herself. She turned to look at Jiang Kechu, blatantly ignoring that he was driving, leaned over, twisted Jiang Kechu’s head toward her, and planted a kiss on his lips.

Hmm, icy-cool, soft and delicious, the same taste as always.

The car swerved slightly, then quickly steadied.

After releasing Jiang Kechu, Wan Chu’er exclaimed excitedly: "Oh, oh, oh! A lai oh lai oh lai! I’m going! Uncle Jiang, I’ll go! The thought of it is so thrilling, so exciting, so interesting—I want to go!"

Jiang Kechu: "..."

He took a deep breath and said seriously, "Chuchu, you need to think this through. This is not about fighting a couple of thugs, it’s not a game, there could be actual life-threatening danger."

Wan Chu’er’s eyes sparkled: "Uncle Jiang, I know, I’m not joking. I want to go."

At this stage, Jiang Kechu could no longer dissuade her; otherwise, he would be defying military orders.

Wan Chu’er babbled, "What a great opportunity this is, to meet someone my father saved. I want to see what kind of person my father saved;

Besides, I can fight alongside Uncle Jiang—just thinking about it makes me feel fantastic.

Uncle Jiang, don’t worry. Recently Li Shan and Grandpa have been training me in martial arts; I won’t be a drag on you."

Jiang Kechu’s expression grave, and now that he couldn’t reverse the situation, he could only hope for the best.

"For this mission, think about anything you might need and make a list now. Also, during the operation, you must follow orders and not act on your own. They will do their utmost to ensure your safety."

"Wait." Wan Chu’er interrupted him, her eyes wide, "What do you mean ’they’ will do their utmost to ensure my safety? Won’t you be with me? Aren’t we supposed to be working together?"

Jiang Kechu answered her, "Your task is to persuade the former president of Country K to help; my mission is covert and cannot be disclosed to the public."

What?

She thought she would be with Jiang Kechu the whole time. It turned out they were going to operate separately.

Yet, they were working towards the same goal, Wan Chu’er comforted herself.

"Uncle Jiang, where are we heading now? I don’t have a passport; what should I pack?"

Jiang Kechu said gravely, "Someone will prepare everything for you. From now on, you must keep your whereabouts secret and cannot go home. I have already informed Grandpa Zhong, and he will cover for you."

"Oh," Wan Chu’er perked up again, "Just handle the other stuff; I need a laptop with internet access. I want to research Country K and that Seal Team from Country M."

As she incessantly uttered her opinions, Jiang Kechu was tensely focused.

Soon, the car arrived at a heavily guarded military base, and they stopped in front of a small building nestled deep inside.

As soon as their car steadied, two individuals emerged from nowhere and saluted them.

"The commander has ordered Miss Wan to go directly to the second floor."

Jiang Kechu nodded, then said to Wan Chu’er, "Go on, everything will be arranged for you there. I’ll be heading to another location."

Wan Chu’er nodded with a casual air and followed the two individuals into the building.

The building seemed to have been constructed in the sixties or seventies, heavy and imposing. The three walked silently along the corridor, an atmosphere of solemnity enveloping the space.

Listening to her footsteps, Wan Chu’er finally felt a twinge of nervousness.

They soon stopped at an iron door, and one of them knocked twice.

"Come in."

Wan Chu’er looked back at the two men, took a deep breath, and walked in by herself.

Inside was a small room with a table in the center, in front of which sat two men and one woman, all in military uniform and with serious expressions.

The female officer pointed to an empty chair at the other end of the table and said, "Mr. Wan, please take a seat."

"With time pressing against us, I believe Captain Jiang has already briefed you on the mission. We will now explain the details to you. Before that, here is a confidentiality agreement. Please sign it; you are not to disclose even the slightest detail of this matter to anyone without permission."
