Rebirth: He Decides to Lie Flat -
Chapter 365 - 365 360 A Variety of Text Messages
Chapter 365: Chapter 360: A Variety of Text Messages Chapter 365: Chapter 360: A Variety of Text Messages The second brother arrived back in Beijing on Sunday evening at seven o’clock.
As he was slowly driving into the Xinyu auto shop, he looked around curiously towards the garage door to see if Jiang Yan was there.
But even as he pulled into a parking space at the entrance, he still hadn’t caught a glimpse of his brother’s figure.
Relieved, the second brother got out of the car and entered the shop, asking Dai Lei, “When did my brother leave?”
Dai Lei looked up at him with a complex expression and said, “You’re back pretty early, I thought you’d be in North City for a week.”
“A week?” the second brother exclaimed, “Are you kidding me? I’m supposed to abandon my shop? Stop making money?”
“Making money isn’t as sweet as love!”
“What’s the use of sweet love if you’ve got no money to spend?”
Dai Lei looked at the second brother in amazement, “Not bad, you’re not blinded by love; you can stay clear-headed even when you’re knee-deep in romance. I’m impressed!”
The second brother boasted proudly, “Of course, who do you think I am?”
Who are you?
Are you the silly son who got married off?
Dai Lei watched the second brother with amusement, then turned his head towards the bathroom. Just as Jiang Yan came out with freshly washed hands, he heard the second brother’s earlier statement and let out a cold laugh, saying, “You fall in love and forget who you are; look at you acting all capable!”
The second brother was taken aback and blurted out without thinking, “Bro, why are you still here?”
Jiang Yan squinted at him while Dai Lei couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
“No, bro, I…I didn’t mean that, I meant… why haven’t you gone back to rest? Don’t overwork yourself,” he stammered.
Jiang Yan snorted, “Enough, no need to explain. You get a wife and forget your brother, I get your drift.”
Second brother: …
He wanted to cry but no tears came, and under his brother’s gaze, he couldn’t utter another word.
As Jiang Yan turned to leave, the second brother hastily grabbed him, “Bro, it’s not about me; it’s Xiao Qi. He wants to consult you on something.”
Jiang Yan looked puzzled, “If he has a problem, why doesn’t he call me directly? Why send the message through you?”
How odd, that didn’t sound like something Xiao Qi would do.
“He said he texted you, but you didn’t reply. He thought maybe you were too busy to check.”
In fact, Xiao Qi had said that Jiang Yan dealt with big deals, and he might not be interested in Xiao Qi’s small campus entrepreneurship, so he didn’t want to bother him for advice. The second brother felt uncomfortable hearing this, but considering the close relationship between Xiao Qi and his brother, he didn’t want any misunderstandings. So he explained that his brother wasn’t one to check messages often, and it would be better to call directly if there was something important.
Although he didn’t understand why Xiao Qi hadn’t just called and instead said this, the second brother still thought it best to come back and talk to his brother about it.
Jiang Yan fell silent for a moment, then pulled out his phone and began scrolling through his messages.
He had no idea until he checked, and what he saw shocked him.
There were dozens, if not hundreds, of messages that were confessions. He opened a few and felt a chill down his spine–
“Hi Jiang, I’m Jiang Yuyan from the School of Foreign Languages, freshman class of Japanese 1. It’s such a coincidence that I share the same last name with you, Jiang. I’m so honored. You look super cool playing basketball. I was wondering if you have time to grab a meal together.”
“Hi Jiang, I’m Wuting from freshman class two of traditional Chinese painting. I will take care of your basketball team’s water and drinks. Just let me know what you like to drink, and I’ll have it ready for you in advance.”
“Hello Jiang Yan, this is Li Qing from sophomore class one of international trade. This is the 199th message I’ve sent you this year. I will keep sending them until I reach a thousand. If you still don’t reply by then, I’ll give up. It will be the conclusion of my first crush.”
“Jiang, you’re so handsome; I really love watching you play basketball. I’m a member of your cheerleading squad. I always cheer for you whenever you play.”
The most fucking bizarre thing was that there were even a few messages from guys mixed in–
“Hi senior, I’m Lu Xing from freshman class three of the computer science department. I’ve heard a lot about your numerous great achievements since I entered school, and I really admire you. I hope I can have the chance to get in touch with you closely. Oh, and you look so manly when playing basketball!”
What the hell, the beginning sounded normal, but what’s with this ‘close contact’? How damn close do you want to get?
And saying I look manly while playing basketball, damn it, I’m manly even when I don’t play!
“Hi Jiang, I’m Li Da from freshman class two of the math department. Your basketball skills are on par with Senior Zhu from our department, but I think you are way more handsome than Zhu. Your shooting form is also very cool. I really like you so much!”
This bloody message even has the audacity to stir up trouble!
Jiang Yan didn’t want to read anymore messages below, his skin would crawl all the way up to his face if he continued. Clumsily using the physical keyboard, he quickly deleted them one by one, then it occurred to him that he had left his phone at home yesterday and Jiajia had brought it to him in the afternoon.
Thankfully this chick wasn’t nosy and didn’t have a habit of checking his messages, or else he’d never be able to clear his name even if he jumped into the Yellow River.
Also, he shouldn’t go to the basketball team anymore. He wasn’t particularly fond of it, just saw it as a sport. If he didn’t play basketball, he could do other things. Like taking Jiajia for runs, or playing tennis and badminton.
Right, he could also learn boxing.
Yu Heng was considering opening a boxing gym because two of his junior brothers from abroad wanted to develop their careers back in China. These two knew Chinese martial arts as well as foreign boxing, having participated in no less than a hundred competitions, winning awards, and though not always first place, they proved to be formidable opponents.
But correspondingly, their bodies paid the price, even suffering permanent internal injuries. When these two mentioned this to Yu Heng over a call, he immediately persuaded them to come back and open a boxing gym with him in China.
Jiang Yan suggested opening a sports facility because the boxing market in China wasn’t very mature yet. In contrast, upscale sports facilities such as shooting and fencing were still rare, and he believed they would be popular if they opened one.
He also suggested they could target the youth market with table tennis and basketball halls.
Yu Heng had money to spare and could afford to scale up the sports facility. As for coaches, that was even simpler. His two friends had experience in shooting and fencing, and their circle of friends were all sports enthusiasts, so finding reliable coaches wouldn’t be an issue.
So, if Jiang Yan wanted to engage in sports, there were plenty of options for him to choose from in the future.
After deleting who knows how many messages, nearly getting a cramp in his hand, Jiang Yan finally saw the two long messages from Xiao Qi: “Our school has classrooms specifically for students to start businesses, and you can use them for free if you apply. Last year, a junior took one of these classrooms to run a campus advertising business, but it shut down after a few months, having lost a fair amount of money. His concept was to advertise for the businesses near the school gate to draw in customers, meaning the businesses would pay him, and he would distribute flyers around campus for the promotion.”
“The reason for his losses was that he hired too many people, and the income didn’t cover the expenses, so he ended up having to pay some labor costs out of his own pocket. I’ve analyzed it, and I think the direction of campus advertising is correct, but his approach was flawed. What if I use a webpage for the promotion? Like creating something similar to a campus network, to run ads on it, would that be feasible?”
