Chapter 218: Chapter 196 Wedding Banquet Scene_2
Su Meng mulled over it for a while and finally blurted out, "Sisi, I think I should still go!"
Li Si gave her a meaningful look, then teased playfully, "Then what are we waiting for? Go doll yourself up!"
Unable to take it, Su Meng pointed at her from afar and quickly went off to join the crowd changing clothes.
At Yangcheng Hotel, the private room housed two extra-large round tables, each adorned with two large bouquets of vibrant red roses.
Leng Mochen sat at ease, tapping his left hand on the tea-colored tabletop while spinning his phone with his right hand. Long Wu, restless, paced back and forth between stepping outside and walking around the room.
Xu Er lounged on the sofa, legs crossed, arm draped over the armrest, and couldn’t help but jab at Long Wu, "Wu, what are you doing, pacing back and forth like a donkey spinning the mill? You’re making my head spin!"
"If you can’t talk properly, don’t talk! Are you looking for trouble, huh?" Long Wu’s impatience finally found an outlet. Call him a donkey? Seriously?
Xu Er spread his hands helplessly, "You’re just like firecrackers now—touch and boom!"
"Enough, you two! Sisi just texted; they’re about to head over!" Leng Mochen looked at the message on his phone and stopped their bickering.
Upon hearing this, Long Wu exhaled in relief, while Xu Er rolled his eyes at him with disdain.
When a group of beautifully dolled-up ladies entered the private room and saw the three jaw-droppingly handsome men, the previously lively and chattering crowd of girls suddenly quieted down, their demeanor instantly shifting.
Except for Li Si and Su Meng, who stayed true to themselves, the young women from the store all put on their most ladylike airs—speaking softly, laughing without showing teeth, sipping wine in small sips, and eating delicately.
This made Li Si roll her eyes from time to time. The saying goes, "Three women make a drama," but this was much more than that—absolutely theatrical.
They weren’t like this in the store, weren’t they?
Li Si cleared her throat, "Today marks the grand opening of Simeng. Everyone here has worked hard, and the results have far exceeded expectations!
Since we’re celebrating, let’s loosen up, eat and drink freely! Don’t hold back because of anyone! Come, let’s raise our glasses and toast to making Simeng even better!"
The seated crowd echoed her sentiments, raising their glasses and drinking, followed by smiles all around.
Seeing today’s buzz, everyone was cheerful, mindful of how their wages were tied to performance. With business booming, how could they not earn well?
Zhang Qian raised her glass with a smile, "President Li, Manager Su, then we’ll wholeheartedly follow your lead. Let’s all toast you, thanking you for giving us a platform to shine!"
"As long as you put your heart into your work, we won’t shortchange anyone!" Li Si replied and drained her glass along with Su Meng.
Leng Mochen, seated next to Li Si, held her small hand under the table after she finished her drink and sat down, saying, "Try this! No more drinking!" He knew her terrible tolerance, just a few glasses and she was done. All the while, he kept adding food to her plate, making others green with envy.
"Alright! You eat too! I won’t drink anymore!" Li Si knew he meant well. As she noticed the resentful glances from those seated around them, she shook her head amusedly and cooperatively offered him some food. What’s wrong with showing affection?
A few bold young women, led by Zhang Qian, finally summoned enough courage after drinking quite a bit and began chatting and laughing with Xu Er.
Compared to Xu Er’s newfound popularity, Long Wu was quieter. He drank with anyone who toasted him, occasionally said a few words, but seemed distracted. His gaze kept sneaking over to Su Meng, who was seated quietly beside Li Si. Throughout the night, Su Meng barely spoke, and a hint of sorrow flickered in his eyes.
The unresolved case still lingers, and even Heizi was growing anxious. Long Wu knew rushing wouldn’t solve anything, but he still couldn’t help bottling up his frustration inside.
After the meal, the group shifted to the KTV, where they played for a couple of hours before dispersing.
Li Si hadn’t expected that just from this outing, several young women at the store developed feelings for Xu Er and Long Wu, dropping hints while prying into their information—questions about family background, marital history, even hobbies, leaving her caught between amusement and exasperation.
Su Meng, as always, remained silent about matters concerning Long Wu. Even when another employee declared her intention to pursue Long Wu, Su Meng’s expression stayed indifferent.
But Li Si still caught a fleeting stiffness in Su Meng’s demeanor.
She sighed inwardly, knowing that everyone had their own thoughts, and no one could make decisions for another. The only path forward was for Su Meng to open up and truly move on herself.
Recently, Li Si kept hearing Mrs. Leng talk about Leng Mohao’s upcoming wedding—the wedding dress Liu Jiaqi would be wearing was specially flown in from France, entirely handmade; the dowry from her family included numerous properties alongside funds and company shares.
