Chapter 184: Battle Against Skadi Empire
Chapter 184: Battle Against Skadi Empire
As the wind howled across the dusty plains of the Earth State’s border, two colossal armies stood facing each other.
On one side, the Overlord’s Empire, standing proud yet vastly outnumbered. War banners rippled in the wind, bearing the black-and-gold insignia of the new age. Soldiers, though fewer, stood tall with weapons ready, their eyes burning with purpose.
Across from them, the Skadi Empire had arrived like a storm.
Their massive airships shimmered in the sky like floating steel leviathans, casting long shadows over the land. Enormous terrain cruisers, mounted on magnetic cores, glided over rocks and cliffs as if gravity meant nothing to them. Their soldiers, clad in silver armor with glowing sigils, looked more like invaders from a distant world than inhabitants of the continent.
To the common eye, it looked hopeless. Like ants preparing to fight giants.
The air trembled as one of the Skadi leaders stepped forward.
She hovered above the enemy line, her dark blue skin glowing under the midday sun. Her armor sparkled with embedded crystals, and her voice echoed through an amplifying runes.
"Who is this Overlord who dares to defy the will of the Skadi Emperor? Come forward, so I may witness the arrogance with my own eyes."
Silence swept across the Overlord’s ranks.
Then a sudden gust blew outward from the center of the camp.
From within the ranks, Igaris slowly rose into the sky, cutting through the clouds like a black spear.
He wore no extravagant armor, just a long battle robe with intricate runes shimmering faintly across his sleeves. His eyes were locked onto the enemy, glowing with sharp golden brilliance.
Murmurs erupted from both sides.
"That’s him... the Overlord."
"He looks too young..."
"Wait, why do I feel pressure just looking at him?"
The female commander sneered. "So it is you. You do not look like much though. Perhaps this war will end quicker than I thought."
Igaris stopped midair, just above his army.
He didn’t shout. His voice rang clear and calm.
"I am Igaris Vance, the one who unified Earth from the ashes of oppression. And I will not kneel to any tyrannical empire."
Gasps spread like wildfire across the battlefield.
The Skadi troops flinched.
The Earth soldiers shouted his name:
"Overlord! Overlord! Overlord!"
The enemy commander narrowed her eyes. "Then die with your pride."
A wave of psychic pressure blasted from her body, shaking the ground.
But Igaris lifted one finger.
A pulse of force, invisible but sharp, cut through her aura and silenced the skies.
Even the clouds above paused.
Then he spoke again.
"If you seek war, you’ll have it. But this time, it won’t be Earth that bleeds. It will be you."
From behind him, Evernight emerged like a blade of ice, her hand raised in formation. Shirley arrived radiating like second sun. Enchanting and but dangerous to touch.
Along the hills and cliffs, dozens of commanders lit their auras. Flames, lightning, shadows, and light surged into the heavens.
The war had begun.
And the Skadi Empire would learn what kind of monster had been born in the ruins they once trampled.
---
The war raged on. Between 500,000 VS 2,000,000.
A helpless war. Many thoughts so.
But—
"YAHHHHH!"
Suddenly, a deafening warhorn echoed from the left and right mountain ranges flanking the battlefield.
From behind those jagged peaks, shadows charged like a tidal wave.
300,000 hidden soldiers of the Overlord’s Empire charged forward in perfect formation.
Among them were hundreds of thousands Mechas and Ancient Beast Summoners who chose to follow Igaris in his conquest.
The Angels weren’t unleashed yet, because the 800,000 were enough. Igaris thought so. And it was always good to keep a card hidden from the enemies.
Nevertheless, the Mechas and Summoners charged in with relentless speed, trapping the 2 million Skadi troops in a tightening crescent formation.
"What?!"
"Impossible—"
"How did we not detect them?"
The enemy commanders reeled in disbelief, their confidence shaken.
"This was a trap all along!" one of them screamed, eyes wide.
But pride made them stubborn.
"Fire the Particle Cannons! Deploy Anti-Matter Repeaters! Crush their momentum!"
The massive Airships roared to life, charging energy in their crystal cores. Beneath them, Ground Beasts—metallic war machines shaped like titanic insects—raised their claws and cannons, preparing to unleash torrents of alien destruction.
"BUZZZZ!"
A blinding beam of violet light shot toward the center of the Overlord’s army.
But it never landed.
Igaris vanished.
In the next breath, he reappeared above the Skadi vessel, fingers glowing with crackling light.
"World Destroying Finger."
A single tap fell upon the airship’s shield.
BOOM.
The entire barrier shattered like glass, and the core inside ruptured in a brilliant explosion. The warship spiraled down, consumed by flames.
From the right flank, Malthius streaked through the air like a comet. His armor blazed with darkness as he slammed her sword into the head of a Ground Monster.
With a twist and a surge of energy, it exploded from the inside.
On the other side, Mountain conjured his Metal Spikes, diving through enemy artillery positions and rendering them useless.
Ren Wen led a strike team directly onto one of the moving fortresses, cutting down gunmen before they could even aim.
Shirley playef her zither on her lap, its melodies capturing souls of thousands in each note. They are now mindless slaves bound to obey.
Evernight smiled cruelly before unleashing her eternal curse that drown the Skadi’s soldiers in misery and agony.
Commander after commander from the Overlord’s Empire moved like phantoms, disabling key targets one by one with surgical precision.
The enemy tried to retaliate. Fireballs, plasma bolts, beams of light erupted in the sky.
But Igaris moved faster.
He blinked from warship to warship, his Soul Eclipse blanketing systems and severing energy links. Every time he raised a hand, something broke.
A cannon arm melted.
A propulsion core cracked.
A command tower crumbled.
"Why can’t we lock onto him?!" one of the Skadi captains shouted, slamming his fists on a console.
Another screamed, "He’s disrupting our tech with some kind of... interference field!"
"No... it’s not interference," the female commander muttered. Her eyes trembled as she watched Igaris split a massive floating war fortress in half with one clean cut of his sword. "It’s domain. He’s turning our weapons into his toys."
The ground shook.
Explosions echoed from the left and right.
And from the skies, Igaris hovered high, eyes glowing gold, drenched in enemy blood and cosmic light.
His voice thundered across the battlefield.
"Let it be known. Today, the invaders of Earth will learn why freedom bought with blood is not so easily stolen again."
His army roared behind him.
The war had truly begun—
And the Overlord had already claimed the first strike.
