Re-Awakening with the Summoner's Class
Chapter 67: Expansion

Chapter 67: Expansion

"It’s just like you said, Mr. Leo..."

"Just Leo is fine."

It was a pretty nice feeling to be called that the first few times.

However, it quickly wore off and he just felt embarrassed now.

The head of security continued while giving a slight nod at Leo’s reflection in the car’s back mirror.

"You should check this."

He handed a hefty file with red words ’REDACTED’ on it.

All three of them looked at what was inside as he opened it.

A bunch of papers with the faces of civilians fell out.

Almost all of them had either ’Dead’ or ’In critical condition’ written down.

The only piece of paper without any of the faces was a picture of an ogre on it.

"An Ogre gate broke free in the southern regions of China, you might have not heard about it since their government covered it to the best of their abilities. But ever since news about it began to circulate between normal people, the public got a bit... hard to talk to."

After explaining he handed them a tablet with the news reporters talking about the growing uneasiness amongst the Bound people.

There was just one thing Leo didn’t understand about it.

"Where do we fit into all of it?"

The summoner asked while giving him the tablet back.

"It’s more about the image of the guild, of course, we will help you in any way we can in exchange for that."

That was a very tempting offer since they were as broke as a college student.

He wanted to ask the representative of the committee a few more questions, however, the car stopped and one of the men opened the car doors urging them to exit.

"Our Chief is waiting inside, please head there as soon as possible."

On top of saying please, the man even bowed in front of them, showing his appreciation even though they hadn’t done anything just yet.

Leo left the car and took a look, in front of him was a rather run-down place, however, a lively one, as a matter of fact, it was way livelier than even the Explorer’s Guild when they last visited.

Right as the last one of them left the car, it instantly drove off to somewhere with the man left inside talking to someone on the phone.

They walked inside, there was no one waiting at the reception, and it didn’t seem like the people working there would give them as much as a look before running off to somewhere.

"I guess we just need to search for the biggest room?"

It seemed very unprofessional to welcome guests like that, if it was someone else than them they would probably leave on the spot.

But they marched on as per their leader’s request.

No matter how many giant doors they opened, they couldn’t find an office where the Chief could be.

"Agh! Let’s just go, if they don’t want to meet up with us we should just leave."

Angry Fortuna said between scratching his arm and biting his fingernails.

Nyssa and Leo were also slowly losing hope and thinking it was just some kind of scam, however, one of the countless people walking put the palm of his hand on the summoner’s shoulder.

"Let me walk you towards the Chief."

Without waiting for an answer, the man walked into one of the big rooms filled with desks and workers typing stuff into computers or talking through phones.

"Hey wait!"

They could barely keep up with the man in a suit as he perfectly moved through the dense sea of people.

"I’m already way too slow."

He stopped next to one of the desks and exclaimed.

"Chief Hajime, the SoulCaller guild is here."

And just as he finished speaking, he was already running off to somewhere else, leaving the baffled trio behind.

How could they expect him to be amongst the other workers?! All of this was so strange.

"Nice to meet you, as you have heard my name is Hajime."

Without looking up from his computer, he introduced himself. He looked rather young for a Chief of such a big organization.

Hajime had long hair tied up into a bun on top of his head. Even though his head was as high as the other workers, he was very slumped over, if he stood up he would easily be over 2 meters tall.

"Let’s be quick, I will answer any question you have before saying things I want to say."

A cup of coffee was brought to his table which he drank up in an instant, the bags under his eyes showing how often this refill was happening.

"When did you start this organization?"

Leo liked how straightforward this man was, instantly picking up on his antics and deciding to play along.

"We started a week ago, and have been steadily growing ever since. I know you are interested in what exactly we do so let me explain it too."

His eyes began to close and he whistled loudly, another fresh cup of coffee appeared in front of him moments later which he drank rapidly.

They stood there patiently, waiting.

"The regulations regarding the Tower are outdated, and the government is way too slow in creating them, thus we come in place to uphold them ourselves."

Such an ambitious person, and so early in the Towers story as well. There was no way such a person wouldn’t be mentioned in the encyclopedia.

"Then let me ask another thing, could you help us find a place to hold our guild in? We are short on cash... in exchange, we will agree to the alliance."

Hajime chuckled before looking straight at Leo, stopping whatever he was doing for a split moment.

"You might have not heard it yet since you just came back, but gold has a real-world value now. Thanks to us of course."

The creation of the Tower Safety Commission sped up everything compared to the last time the Tower was in such a state.

And on top of that it solved their money issue, which they wouldn’t complain about.

"Alright that’s a deal then, we will give you gold and you will organize us a good enough space for around 2 months or so."

Nyssa joined into the conversation, looking at the state of the place they were in, this man wouldn’t care about decor or anything related to it.

"How about I help you with that? After all, we don’t want a bad-looking place right?"

Hajime extended his arm and the three of them, minus Fortuna who was busy asking the employees for some materials, shook them to show their agreement to the deal.

"Let us know when you finish searching for the place Nyssa!"

Leo waved her goodbye as they went their ways, she went with one of the agents towards the closest apartment seller, and the two men ran towards the merchant district.

"Please... we need to be faster..."

Thomas wailed as he tried to use the spinning machine without any materials, the gambling itch growing worse even though it’s only been around two hours since they got off the plane.
