Chapter 132: Chapter 132 My Beloved Must Be Happy Now
Jaxon Dyer looked up and down at Lily Turner standing at the garden gate. Just when Lily thought he wasn’t going to speak, he finally opened his mouth: "Comrade! How come I’ve never seen you before, have you just moved in?"
While asking, he continued to size her up.
"Uh-huh!"
Who exactly is this man? Could he be someone from Easton Holmes’s family? With such a guess, Lily Turner’s heart started pounding. It’s hard to believe she’s not nervous about meeting his family.
She just moved in yesterday; how come one after another, his family members are turning up? How did they know she came here?
His reaction and the conversation with his grandfather didn’t seem like he had informed his family beforehand.
Jaxon Dyer looked at Lily Turner calmly and asked, "Has Easton already left?"
"You know Easton Holmes?!"
Hearing Jaxon Dyer’s question, Lily Turner exclaimed in surprise.
To Lily’s reaction, Jaxon Dyer didn’t seem strange or surprised at all. He calmly pointed to a house not far away, "We are neighbors."
They are not just neighbors, he added in his heart.
"Oh!"
Lily followed the direction of Jaxon Dyer’s finger and realized this person was her neighbor from across the street. She had thought he was someone from Easton Holmes’s family.
Knowing the person in front of her wasn’t anyone from the Holmes Residence, her wildly beating heart instantly calmed down.
"Are you going to wait at my house for Easton to return, or come with me to the Military Department to find Easton and get the keys?" Jaxon Dyer sought Lily Turner’s opinion. No matter which option she chose, he needed to figure out what exactly this woman’s relationship with Easton Holmes was, since it was the first time he’d seen Easton bring a woman home.
Lily Turner hesitated slightly and in the end, chose neither option. "Thank you! I’d rather wait in the garden."
After thanking him, she turned around and headed back inside the garden.
"My wife is at home alone, you can keep her company and chat." Seeing Lily Turner wary and refusing him, Jaxon Dyer quickly mentioned his wife. Surely, it would be easier for two women to communicate.
"Oh, I don’t want to impose."
Lily declined Jaxon Dyer not because she was wary of him, but simply because she didn’t know him well. Moreover, people surely had work to do, and she didn’t want to delay them with her trivial matter.
Following him to find Easton Holmes was even less appropriate. He was out for official business, and it’d be awkward for her to tag along. Besides, nobody knew about her and Easton, so she’d rather not make a fuss.
Unaware of Lily Turner’s real thoughts, Jaxon Dyer saw her attitude softening. He assumed his words had eased her wariness and smiled: "As neighbors, there’s really no need to feel embarrassed."
"Come on, my wife would certainly be happy now; she finally doesn’t have to stay home alone." He gestured invitingly, and seeing her not refusing, he then led the way toward his front door.
"Thank you! I still don’t know how to address you?" Seeing his earnest attitude, Lily Turner could no longer refuse and thus followed him to the house across the street.
Talking to someone for so long without knowing their name felt odd, so she politely and courteously asked.
Hearing Lily Turner’s inquiry, Jaxon Dyer turned his head and elaborated on his full name, "Jaxon Dyer! The ’Jax’ in ’Jack,’ the ’Son’ like ’Soon,’ and ’Dyer’ as in ’Flyer’."
