Chapter 746: Chapter 342 Crafty Rabbit_1
As soon as these words came out, the old man was stunned; he hadn’t expected Qin Shou to actually call out to him.
Upon hearing this, both the Eight Trigrams Furnace and Chongba were a bit bewildered and transmitted their voice, "Rabbit, have you gone mad? This guy clearly has ill intentions, and you still want to get mixed up with him?"
Qin Shou transmitted back, "I know he’s no good, but take a look at the people here. Is there anyone who is? The fact that he’s no good doesn’t matter, the key is that he backed off as soon as he saw Fat Cat, which means he’s not as strong as Fat Cat. With less strength and ambitions, he’s not much of a threat to us. Besides, haven’t you noticed? It seems everyone here is skilled at hiding their aura. Up to now, I haven’t been able to discern anyone’s true strength."
Fat Cat transmitted back, "That’s because you’re too weak right now."
Rolling his eyes, Qin Shou retorted, "You’re so strong, why don’t you tell me then."
After huffing twice, Fat Cat unscrupulously said, "Can’t figure it out."
Qin Shou said, "There you have it, right? So, this bastard in front of us is the most reliable among all the bastards. Getting closer to him might squeeze some information out of him. With others, if we accidentally align ourselves with a big shot, wouldn’t that be jumping into a pit of fire?"
With these words, everyone felt it made sense and nodded slightly in agreement.
Qin Shou said, "Fat Cat, it’s up to you next. Scare them if you have to, don’t hold back."
After giving Qin Shou a reassuring look, Fat Cat lay on top of the Eight Trigrams Furnace, squinting his eyes while staring at the old man.
The old man instinctively glanced at Fat Cat, only to see a lotus flower seemingly shimmering at the center of Fat Cat’s brows!
With just one look, the old man almost cried out, "Golden flower accumulates at the top, a Great Golden Immortal?"
However, the old man ultimately held back and chuckled dryly, "Fellow Daoist, is there anything else?"
Qin Shou laughed and said, "Nothing much, just asking how things are going right now? I don’t have much information and would appreciate it if you could fill me in. Of course, there’s a reward for good information, and if it’s not... heh... there’s nothing to worry about."
As Qin Shou mentioned the lack of concern, he silently placed a turtle shell that Chongba had passed to him on the side, then filled it with water and added some green onion.
The sight of the old man’s smiling face immediately stiffened, but in the end, he forced a smile and said, "Look at you, fellow Daoist, we’re all in the same boat here, helping each other out is only right."
After finishing his words, the old man pointed towards the distance and said, "Deep in the starry sky, Yuan Qi is scarce. Now everyone tries to save their magic treasure and magic power for as long as they can. To sustain life and preserve strength, the best method is to find a blessed land with a stable source of Yuan Qi. But deep in the starry sky, there are no such blessed lands."
All of a sudden, Qin Shou interrupted, "Alright, enough, I already know all this, get to the point!"
Hearing this, the last trace of doubt vanished from the old man’s eyes.
Seeing this, Qin Shou inwardly breathed a sigh of relief.
Chongba secretly gave Qin Shou a thumbs-up; they were no fools. The old man’s words clearly covered truths that anyone who had spent a few days deep in the starry sky would understand. The fact that he brought them up now was an obvious attempt at probing Qin Shou and their origins.
If Qin Shou and the others had listened to him attentively as if it were precious information, or had shown any serious or analytical expressions, the other party would have been certain they were not locals.
In that case, who knows what might have happened?
The worst possible outcome would have been an attack from all the surrounding Heavenly Demons!
But Qin Shou was cunning. He didn’t interrupt the old man right from the start, instead only after taking in roughly sixty to seventy percent of what was said to confirm their previous guesses. Then, by interrupting, he affirmed what needed to be, and also avoided further probing—killing two birds with one stone.
Witnessing this, the Eight Trigrams Furnace couldn’t help but complain to Chongba through a voice transmission, "Damn it, Cao, I always thought this rabbit was shameless but not particularly clever. Now, why does it seem like he’s possessed by cunning? Too sly!"
Chongba replied, "No matter what, in the Immortal Realm, the Jade Emperor looked after him, so he could be as carefree as a fool; in the Earthly Immortal Realm, he had a sister and a bunch of people who knew his identity, so no one dared to seriously harm him, which is why he could also let loose. To put it simply, the Heavenly Court was his home, the Earthly Immortal Realm was his backyard—he was the little ancestor at home and naturally didn’t have to use his brain to play there. But this place is different; it’s not his home. Once out of the house, one must certainly bring their brain..."
Fat Cat transmitted succinctly, "In other words, it’s because of the environment."
The Eight Trigrams Furnace suddenly understood...
Just as the old man was about to say something, Qin Shou asked, "Fellow Daoist, how should I address you?"
Smiling, the old man said, "I am from the Yin Yang Sect, the Yamata Daoist. And you, fellow Daoist?"
Qin Shou laughed, "Me? I’m just a rabbit; have you never seen a rabbit before?"
Upon hearing this, Yamata almost twisted his mouth in frustration. So, I introduce myself and you say nothing? You damn rabbit, truly a scoundrel.
Qin Shou said, "Yamata Daoist, please continue."
After thinking for a moment, Yamata spoke, "As you know, without blessed lands, naturally we seek out planets. Even the poorest planet is transformed from Pangu’s hair, radiating Yuan Qi from within. Even if it’s inferior, it’s better than living in this accursed starry space... All the stars originally had owners.
But not long ago, a new star flew in from a distance. Although the Yuan Qi on this star is not ample either, it still arouses envy.
You’ve seen it yourself; all the Daoists who got the news have come.
However, with an abundance of wolves and little meat, nobody dares to make the first move, so we’re at a stalemate.
If you, fellow Daoist, wish to join in, you might as well go ahead and take a look; there might still be an opportunity."
Upon hearing this, Qin Shou immediately designated the area ahead as a danger zone. He also confirmed that the flying star must be the moon!
Because of these old demons holding each other back, Chang’e was now safe. With this assurance, he was relieved.
However, Qin Shou still asked, "With so many Daoists here, hasn’t anyone taken the initiative to try yet?"
Yamata rolled his eyes, "Pull one hair and move the whole body, who would dare to act? I heard they are having a meeting, trying to come up with a concrete plan. Before that is decided, I doubt anyone will make a move."
Seizing the opportunity, Qin Shou questioned, "I heard someone up there, is that true?"
Yamata looked at Qin Shou in surprise. At that moment, any last shred of suspicion he had about Qin Shou completely disappeared, for in his view, no outsider could know about the situation above. Since Qin Shou was aware, it must mean he was a local and had his own network of contacts.
With that thought, Yamata respectfully said, "Indeed, there are people up there, but they’re just little monsters, not worth worrying about. However, there seems to be something on that planet protecting it, rumored to be quite tricky. That’s the main reason why everyone has been hesitant to make a move."
