Chapter 729: Chapter 326 Living Person_1
However, Qin Shou could feel that the cavalrymen, originally merely Human Immortals, once two of them matched their frequencies, their powers immediately linked together as if they were one person, and their strength doubled instantly!
And there were no fewer than eight thousand of those cavalrymen in sight!
With so many people joining forces, how strong would that be? Qin Shou’s brain was barely keeping up!
This was definitely more than a simple case of one plus one!
As the cavalrymen’s pace became more and more uniform, the long spear of the leading cavalryman, even thousands of meters away, gave Qin Shou a chilling sensation on his back, which was becoming increasingly pronounced—as if a long spear was pushing against his spine with force!
Even Qin Shou’s physical body began to feel a slight pain. He didn’t dare to imagine what it would feel like to be caught and stabbed with a spear.
But what was most terrifying was the dark cloud above the heads of the cavalry, within which a carriage faintly appeared and disappeared!
That carriage was one Qin Shou had seen before—it seemed to be Emperor Ziwei’s Seven Fragrance Carriage!
If it truly were that Overlord, Qin Shou knew that even a Great Golden Immortal would be a goner!
"Rabbit, running like this won’t do! The enemy is getting faster. If we really get caught, we’re dead for sure. We need to head for narrow places, places not conducive to their running," Fat Cat yelled.
Qin Shou was about to nod when both of them looked back simultaneously and saw the iron cavalry rising into the air while running!
Then the two decisively continued their muffled fleeing. They had thought about flying up into Heaven, but given the situation, it was clear they couldn’t outrun these people. Flying up— such an exposed place would be just asking for death. Running on the ground, there might still be a chance to hide in tall grass or a tree hollow.
As they were running, the two suddenly turned into a small alley, and after darting into it, high walls and large courtyards blocked the enemy’s line of sight.
Fat Cat’s eyes showed those strange patterns again, and he said, "I can conceal our presence for a while. Hurry, find a place to hide!"
Upon hearing this, Qin Shou just wanted to curse. Hide? In such a small area, where could they hide?
At that moment, Luoye saw a courtyard door ajar, and without a second thought, charged in with Fat Cat, hastily closing the door behind them.
Then Qin Shou hunched down, peeking out of the door crack, to see if the pursuers had followed.
Actually, there was no need to look; the thundering sound of hooves already said it all. As the sound of the hooves drew closer, the cold sweat on Qin Shou’s forehead increased. For the first time, he regretted venturing so deeply into the Black Demon Box. Had he known, he would have been content to prey on outsiders.
Just then, Fat Cat lowered his voice and said in an incredibly ferocious tone, "Old man, what are you looking at? Fix your shoes! Another look and beware—I might just kill to silence a witness!"
Qin Shou was taken aback. Were there people here?
Immediately after, Qin Shou grew tense. He had been in the world of the Black Demon Box for so long and had met a few humanoid creatures, though he didn’t even know if he should call them human. While these beings had faces familiar to Qin Shou, they were all as crazed as lunatics, attacking fiercely on sight.
If there were people here too, didn’t that mean they were surrounded?
Qin Shou quickly turned and looked to see a skinny old man sitting in the courtyard, holding a cloth shoe and sewing kit, actually fixing the shoe!
Qin Shou stared intensely at the old man’s hands, fearful that a sudden movement would see the shoe and needle thrown at them.
He wasn’t afraid of a prick, but he feared making a noise that would draw the iron cavalry outside and even Emperor Ziwei from the heavens!
However, to Qin Shou’s surprise, the old man just glanced at him and Fat Cat before lowering his head and continuing to mend the shoe.
Both Qin Shou and Fat Cat visibly relaxed, exchanging looks and unconsciously wiping the cold sweat from their foreheads together.
The sound of horseshoes outside grew closer and closer. Based on the sound, the two of them could easily tell that the tens of thousands of iron cavalry had already arrived at the gate!
Their hearts instantly began to race, heads lowered, teeth clenched, ready to turn and run at any moment.
After waiting for a while, they heard the sound of horseshoes outside again, and instinctively, they were about to leap into the sky when suddenly a shoe flew over and smacked Qin Shou in the face!
Then, like a boomerang, the shoe bounced off and hit Fat Cat in the face, both guys feeling a fiery sting on their cheeks, instinctively covering their faces and crouching down.
Strangely, the shoe made no sound as it smacked their faces!
The sound of horseshoes outside did come, but it was somewhat disordered, and it began to fade away as if those iron cavalry started to leave.
Qin Shou and Fat Cat looked at each other, simultaneously letting out a sigh of relief, then they turned to look at the old man, a trace of reverence now in their eyes.
Neither of them were fools. That iron cavalry had charged over, trampling lots of plants and flattening dozens of abandoned houses. Yet, they had stopped right at the door of this house and, after hesitating for a while, they retreated. What did this imply?
It implied that there was someone or something in the yard that they could not afford to offend!
Qin Shou and Fat Cat approached together, bowing respectfully and saying, "We pay our respects to the senior, thank you for saving our lives."
The old man pointed at the shoe on the ground and said, "Pick it up for me."
Fat Cat subconsciously nodded and said, "Okay."
Then, Fat Cat kicked Qin Shou and said, "Go pick it up."
Qin Shou retorted angrily, "Why don’t you go?"
Fat Cat lay down on the ground and said, "Because I’m lazy."
Qin Shou: "#@¥#..."
In the end, it was Qin Shou who picked it up and handed the shoe to the old man. Qin Shou leaned in, smiling and asked, "Can you speak?"
The old man was immediately amused by the irritation: "Was it a ghost speaking to you just now? Young man, don’t cause trouble for no reason, you should go back where you came from."
Once Qin Shou heard that the old man really could speak, he became excited, grabbed the old man’s hand and blurted out, "I, Cao, finally found a living person. Senior, can you tell me how you got into my Black Demon Box? And what were those guys outside all about? Why did they turn to ash when killed? And is this really Tianyong City, really the Heavenly Court?"
Qin Shou blurted out all the questions in his mind, he couldn’t help but ask. He carried the Black Demon Box with him.
Before, the Throne Mountain peak had an invisible barrier that was closed off, but now it had been completely opened, Qin Shou was truly worried that one day while sleeping, someone would come and hit him on the back of his head with a club.
Even if there was no club hitting, imagine if he could shape-shift in the future, and while having a moment with his girlfriend, someone crawled out of the box; he guessed he might never feel proud again in this lifetime.
So, Qin Shou took this matter very seriously!
After listening, the old man snorted and said, "You want to know?"
Qin Shou nodded vigorously.
After thinking for a moment, the old man stretched out a hand and said, "Hand it over."
