Rabbit Must Die

Chapter 570: Chapter 174 Reunion_1

Diting glared at the Yasha and said, "It’s not for you to decide whether someone is an honored guest or not."

The Yasha’s face turned bright red as he was about to retort, only to hear Heaven say indifferently, "Lord Diting, have you come to us for a reason?"

Diting replied, "Nothing much, just to convey the Bodhisattva’s decree: this rabbit is a Heavenly God and also a distinguished guest of Buddha Mountain. You must not treat him with neglect. Xunxiang, since you’ve known the rabbit for a longer time, you’ll be responsible for his food and lodging while he is here."

Upon hearing this, Xunxiang exploded on the spot, almost subconsciously exclaiming, "What? I have to take care of him?"

Qin Shou hugged Xunxiang’s thigh tightly, snickering, "I think it’s quite alright; from now on, you’ll be responsible for warming my bed, serving tea and water, washing clothes, cooking, bathing and the like."

Xunxiang grabbed Qin Shou’s rabbit ear in one swift motion, giving it a hard pull. Qin Shou, caught off-guard, was yanked down immediately.

However, Qin Shou reacted quickly and immediately shouted, "Big Dog, is this how you treat an honored guest? This woman is too violent!"

Diting, who originally had a proud expression, suddenly stiffened when he heard the words "Big Dog."

The rest of the Eight Heavenly Dragons almost subconsciously glanced at Diting and, seeing his expression, they struggled to contain their laughter, and then sat back to wait for Diting’s outburst. They were well aware that Diting, of noble blood, was haughty and hated nothing more than being called other creatures... especially dogs!

They clearly remembered the last time Diting lost his temper; it was because an Asura had called him a dog, and in his fury, he set a section of the Nether River ablaze, slaughtering countless Asuras.

Now, with the rabbit yelling like that, they were very curious to see if Diting would lose his temper!

The Yasha whispered with a mischievous chuckle, "This damn rabbit is really seeking death. Seems like I won’t need to lift a finger. Lord Diting is going to handle him—quick, look, Lord Diting’s face has turned black, he’s about to explode!"

The other Eight Heavenly Dragons looked on, nodding subtly; they knew all too well that a darkening face followed by a rampage was the prelude to Diting getting angry.

However, to the astonishment of everyone, the usually irritable Diting, after his face darkened for a moment, made a concerted effort to lift the corners of his mouth and eventually squeezed out a smile, saying, "Xunxiang, stop tormenting him. This matter has already been decided; you must not act rashly. And stop throwing the rabbit around—that’s not the way we at Buddha Mountain treat guests."

At those words, the eyeballs of all the Eight Heavenly Dragons nearly dropped to the ground, each looking at Diting as if they’d seen a ghost.

The Yasha’s jaw dropped so far it almost hit his chest before he propped it up with his hand to close his mouth, muttering, "Damn... is the sun rising from the west? I must be dreaming, right? Lord Diting actually didn’t get angry..."

Heaven frowned slightly, looking at Qin Shou with a touch more surprise in his gaze, but there was no significant disturbance, simply echoing, "Xunxiang, put down the rabbit."

Xunxiang, hearing both of them say this, huffed angrily and swung the rabbit around a couple of times before finally dropping him on the ground and puffing, "I refuse to take care of this rabbit!"

Diting said, "This is the Bodhisattva’s command."

Xunxiang looked at Diting reluctantly, and Diting met her gaze without yielding an inch, his mind flashing back to the words Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha had said to him just before he left: "If Xunxiang is reluctant, then you should take care of the rabbit yourself."

Xunxiang was not aware of Diting’s thoughts, and took it as a command from Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha. After glaring for a long while, she finally softened and brought her hands together in respect, saying, "I shall heed the decree."

Diting nodded slightly, wiping a bead of cold sweat from his brow internally, as he had almost not been able to hold out.

Pleased, Diting nodded and said, "Rabbit, as a Heavenly God who has come to Buddha Mountain, we will naturally treat you well. But you must refrain from recklessness, for you represent the Heavenly Court, not just yourself."

The statement seemed alright at first glance, but Qin Shou always felt that Diting’s bunch of words had hidden meanings within them, as though those lofty praises were not to elevate his status but small shackles instead... It was as though he was hinting Qin Shou not to cause trouble. This made Qin Shou feel depressed. Was his reputation really that bad here?

Qin Shou asked himself, his character was still quite decent...

"Alright, Xunxiang, you take the rabbit to Zhike House. His friends have arrived. From now on, you’ll take care of them too," said Diting and then he turned and left in a hurry, seeming quite urgent.

Xunxiang now had so many debts that one more did not make a difference. She had agreed to take on the rabbit, so a few friends of the rabbit weren’t a big deal either, thus she nodded in agreement.

But Qin Shou, curious, asked, "Big Dog, what friends of mine have come?"

When Diting heard this shout, he stiffened, and his breathing fluctuated for a full minute before calming down. Then he said, deliberately and slowly, "You’ll know when you get there."

With that, Diting left swiftly without looking back.

Qin Shou scratched his head and said, "Is that dog in a rush to pee? He’s running so fast..."

"That’s not a dog, that’s Diting!" Xunxiang glared at Qin Shou.

Qin Shou replied as if it were obvious, "I know it’s Diting, but can I even see what he looks like? You don’t even have a sun here, and he is as black as ink, looking too much like a dog friend of mine."

Xunxiang didn’t bother to respond to Qin Shou and just grabbed him, saying, "Stop talking nonsense... Follow me!"

Xunxiang led Qin Shou away, leaving the Eight Heavenly Dragons feeling unsettled.

"What exactly is going on? Why is Diting so nice to that rabbit, not even getting angry when called a dog?" Garuda asked curiously.

Everyone shook their heads in response.

One of the dragons said, "He surely got angry, but he suppressed it. Heaven, what do you think is the rabbit’s background?"

Heaven dismissed it, saying, "Whether an immortal or a demon, we’ll find out sooner or later."

Thinking it over, everyone agreed and subsequently dispersed.

Meanwhile, Diting walked away with a gloomy face, cursing inwardly, "Damn rabbit, who do you think you are? Do you think you’re a Bodhisattva or an old demon from the Nether River? They call me a dog, and damn it, I can’t beat them, so I endured it. But you, you also start shouting, and in front of so many people, do you really think I’m made of mud, without a temper? If it weren’t for the Bodhisattva telling me not to provoke you, I’d be eating rabbit meat tonight!"

Not long after, a roar sounded outside Buddha Mountain, filled with murderous intent. The Nether River exploded; it was unknown whether anyone died...

Under Xunxiang’s lead, Qin Shou arrived at Zhike House. Zhike House was a series of connected small buildings, usually used to accommodate visiting guests.

At that moment, several people were sitting in the pavilion outside Zhike House.

There was a young girl, a beautiful woman, and a foolishly large figure who was incessantly fidgeting with a dragon person who had a gigantic head.

The four of them were Li Zhenying, Lady Diyong, along with Kui San, and the Bronze Dragon.
