Chapter 555: Chapter 159 Discussing the Path_1
Lan Sha knew that Qin Shou had given his silent permission, so he shouted loudly, "I am selling alcohol here, come and drink if you want to!"
The burly man was full of confusion, not understanding what Lan Sha was doing.
But the next moment, he was flabbergasted!
Shouts could be heard from all directions, "Is the Rabbit selling alcohol?"
"Damn! Rabbit, save a cup for me!"
"Rabbit, I want a cup too!"
"I want one as well!"
Then, a group of Asuras instantly rushed over, surrounding Qin Shou tightly from three layers inside and three layers outside!
Seeing this, Qin Shou laughed even more joyfully, silently taking out a piece of paper and placing it in front of him—a magic for a dish or a cup of alcohol.
The people who came were mostly Asuras who had broken through their cultivation last night while drinking, and some who had heard about it. They thought the food was delicious, but no matter how tasty the dish was, it wasn’t as exhilarating as making a breakthrough.
After all, in the eyes of an Asura, staying alive was always the top priority, with wine-tasting coming second.
So, without almost any hesitation, everyone took out Soul Wood Slips one by one, passing them over while loudly exclaiming, "I want a cup of alcohol!"
"I want a cup of alcohol too!"
"Give me a cup as well!"
Seeing this, Qin Shou laughed happily, but he did not accept the Soul Wood Slips, instead shaking his head and saying, "The alcohol is good, but I can’t guarantee that it will lead to a breakthrough. After all, breaking through cultivation by drinking is quite inconceivable. Everything depends on the opportunity... it all depends on fate."
"Rabbit, don’t say that, we trust you!" an Asura shouted loudly.
"Right, right, we trust you! I saw it yesterday with my own eyes, all these bastards broke through after just one cup of alcohol!" someone else yelled out.
Qin Shou shook his head and said, "That was their fortune. You might not get the same result after drinking."
"If there’s no effect, then I’ll just treat it as having a drink! I’ve lived for tens of thousands of years and have never had a drink; today is a good opportunity to do so," one of them said while handing over a Soul Wood Slip.
Seeing this, Qin Shou smiled faintly and said, "If that’s the case, then drink up."
Qin Shou happily accepted the Soul Wood Slip from the person...
The man laughed heartily, picked up a cup of alcohol, and gulped it down!
Qin Shou understood that the magic abilities these people offered him were not actually their most proficient ones. The truly substantial skills would not simply be exchanged for a cup of wine. However, Qin Shou didn’t mind; an abundance of skills never burdened the owner, and besides, he never expected to master everything at once. He just thought that while open attacks could be dodged, secret strikes were harder to guard against. These Asuras had been pondering for eons on how to assassinate and ambush others, so if he could learn from their experience, he would never have to fear being tricked again. After all, there were far too many Asuras; what he wasn’t good at might just be another’s specialty, and vice versa. By combining everyone’s skills, even though Qin Shou only acquired partial knowledge, he gained a relatively complete understanding of various paths.
Moreover, Qin Shou had given up very little in return, just some practically useless wine...
The wine in front of Qin Shou sold out quickly, so he brought out another batch. With each sale, Qin Shou realized during a break that he had earned a total of three thousand Soul Wood Slips! This meant he had acquired knowledge of three thousand grand paths!
Although there would certainly be some repetition, Qin Shou didn’t care. The overlapping information could complement each other, and he might directly find his way onto that path, saving him much time in cultivation.
Thus, Qin Shou gleefully looked at his bounty, feeling utterly delighted in his heart.
The burly man sitting opposite him had, from the beginning to the end, not come forward to buy a single cup of wine. Instead, he watched Qin Shou with interest, his eyes filled with complex emotions—surprise, skepticism, and some things that Qin Shou couldn’t understand. In any case, Qin Shou had no idea what the burly man was thinking, nor did he have the time to care.
At that moment, a golden light tore through the sky brightly, bursting with Buddha’s energy and heavenly music to the extent that Qin Shou could actually hear Buddha chanting scriptures!
The grand and boundless Buddhist sounds dispelled the darkness and the Blood Sea, illuminating half the sky.
The Buddhist light transformed into a pillar, striking directly upon the Blood Sea, causing it to churn. Many Asuras who failed to evade were enveloped in the Buddhist light; they howled and roared in agony, but eventually, their hair fell out, their expressions became serene, and they finally sat cross-legged within the Buddhist light, even starting to recite the Buddhist scriptures!
Seeing this, Qin Shou’s hair stood on end, and he hurriedly began to pack up his stall, ready to run.
Just then, the burly man stepped in front of Qin Shou, smiling, "Rabbit, where are you going?"
Qin Shou replied, "Make way, make way, I’m going home, and that’s enough chit-chat."
The burly man laughed, "Are you afraid? Do you know what that light is?"
Seeing that the burly man wouldn’t let him leave without an answer, Qin Shou impatiently said, "One look and it’s clear that’s no upright light; nothing to fear would be odd."
The burly man was taken aback and then burst into laughter, "Haha... What a great joke! Such a vast and bright Buddhist light has become ’no upright light’ in your words?"
Qin Shou sneered, "Forcing the transformation of someone’s beliefs is akin to erasing and then enslaving a soul, and you call that an upright light? I’m already being nice by not calling it a demon light! Move aside, I need to go home."
Qin Shou indeed thought so. In his view, bad people should just die directly, and he certainly did not agree with such forceful conversions. As opposed to conversions, he believed more in the concept of persuasion.
Conversion is regardless of whether you are willing or not, directly employing powerful magic to twist one’s inner thoughts, forcibly changing a person into another, and then making them obey... This, to Qin Shou, was no different from a powerful country invading another and then changing their history, altering their stories, ultimately erasing their pride and turning them into slaves.
As he spoke, Qin Shou subconsciously thought of some worthless individuals from Huaxia on Earth who seemed to have already had their pride erased, becoming the dogs of former powerful nations. These dogs couldn’t bear to see anyone speak ill of their foreign masters, and their mouths were equally fixated on attacking anything good about their homeland. Upon seeing it, they would bite madly first and ask questions later. For such dogs, Qin Shou always felt that they should be put to death straight away; there was no need for excess words.
Now, the Buddhist light reminded Qin Shou of that same feeling—how could he not be afraid?
What he feared the most now was the Buddhist light turning a corner and shining on him...
As for persuasion, it’s about genuinely convincing a bad person to see the error of their ways from within, to understand their wrongdoings, then voluntarily put down their weapon and accept the consequences of their past crimes, whether it be execution or property confiscation, and such—they accept it all. It’s a spontaneous and heartfelt change and acknowledgment. The two are not the same at all.
