Rabbit Must Die -

Chapter 509: Chapter 121: Found It_1
Qin Shou then remembered that while he was on Naihe Bridge, Mengpo had asked him to find her. But Qin Shou had been so busy that he’d forgotten all about it.
Moreover, in Qin Shou’s opinion, helping an old soldier fulfill his wish was far more substantial than flirting with an old lady.
Thinking of this, Qin Shou slapped his forehead and asked Yishui, "Yishui, have you seen an old soldier wearing battered armor? Ah... right, why don’t you have anyone there?"
Yishui answered as if it were the most natural thing in the world, "I’m responsible for the Mortal Path section. If someone dies and is judged to be sent to one of the Four Continents in the Mortal Realm, then they fall under my jurisdiction. Once they get to my place, I determine where they should go, then send them to Naihe Bridge to enter the Six Paths of Reincarnation. Lately, I don’t know what’s happening, but the ghosts that come are really crappy... Since I have nothing to do, I just let Pingjiu cover for me. Besides that, even if it were just plain threads, I wouldn’t see them. They are just too scary..."
Qin Shou was once again speechless. From the time he met Cui Jue to Yishui here at King Zhuanlun’s, why did he feel that the Netherworld was all kinds of lax, all kinds of casual, all kinds of messy?
However, facing Yishui was different from facing Cui Jue. Cui Jue was a millennia-old Judge, who had the ability but shirked his duties, which was wrong. To put it more bluntly, why should such a grown man be slacking off?
Now looking at Yishui, with clear brows, bright eyes, skin as luminous as jade, and lips red and teeth white, no matter how you looked at it, being lazy seemed only natural!
At that moment, Yishui suddenly stood on tiptoes and glanced at the letter in Qin Shou’s hand, exclaiming in surprise, "Mengpo reached out to you?"
Qin Shou was astonished, "Is there a problem?"
Yishui shook his head and said, "There is a problem. Mengpo always meets people on Naihe Bridge and doesn’t go anywhere else. Her Muddy Manor has never been visited by anyone, even us. Each time we went to meet her, she would come out early to wait and never let us in."
Qin Shou was taken aback and said, "Just how high-ranking is Mengpo? That powerful? She can even block you from entering?"
Yishui said, "She holds the recipe for Mengpo’s Soup. Besides, she hasn’t done anything wrong, so what right do we have to force our way into someone’s home?"
Qin Shou thought about it and immediately understood. Bull Head and Horse Face were all about brute force, anyone could do it, so they could be hired or fired at will. Mengpo, despite not holding a high rank, was a skilled worker holding core technology. Even the Yama Kings of Ten Halls wouldn’t easily dismiss her.
Having figured all this out, Qin Shou became even more puzzled. What did the skilled worker Mengpo want with him for no reason? And after an unsuccessful first attempt, she even sent someone to deliver a letter to invite him again...
If Mengpo were a beautiful girl, Qin Shou might have accepted it. But thinking of Mengpo’s face full of pockmarks, looking scarier than a ghost, Qin Shou truly had no interest in going.
Qin Shou weighed the letter in his hand and ultimately decided not to seek out Mengpo. Instead, he went to the Punishing Division to find Zhong Kui.
As he entered, Qin Shou saw Zhong Kui sitting with his back to him, fiddling with something or other.
Qin Shou asked, "Zhong Kui, what are you doing?"
Zhong Kui hummed in response and said, "Nothing much. Oh right, I’ve gathered some information about that soldier’s spirit."
"Where?" Qin Shou’s eyes lit up as he pressed on.
Zhong Kui said, "In the Nether River."
"What?!" Qin Shou exclaimed, startled. He instantly sprinted toward Zhong Kui.
But Zhong Kui reacted even quicker, swiftly twisting his body to once again face Qin Shou with his back.
Qin Shou raised an eyebrow and asked, "Why are you always sticking your butt toward me?"
Zhong Kui said, "None of your business why I’m facing you with my butt! Anyway, I’ve figured out the matter, now you deal with the rest. I’ve got other things to do, so I’m off!"
After saying that, Zhong Kui stood up to leave, but Qin Shou raised an eyebrow and called out, "Yishui!"
Yishui shouted, "Zhong Kui, you stop right there!"
Zhong Kui paused, looked down, and that’s when he saw the petite and exquisite Yishui. Then Yishui paused, followed by clutching her stomach and bursting into loud laughter.
Taking the opportunity, Qin Shou rushed to have a look, cracked a smile, but managed to swallow the laughter back down and cleared his throat twice before saying, "Brother Zhong Kui, when did you shave? So clean."
Realizing he couldn’t hide it, Zhong Kui, still single, waved his hand in anger, "Damn it, I just came out from the Teleportation Array and got blown up. If you want to shave, I can help you; I guarantee it’ll be cleaner than this burn!"
Qin Shou hastily waved him off, "Never mind, you look younger without a beard. If I, a Rabbit, had no hair, that would be indecent, so let’s forget it."
Zhong Kui, amused by Qin Shou’s words and sure that Rabbit wasn’t making fun of him, felt a slight warmth in his heart and said, "Rabbit, I didn’t lie to you. In fact, it was the Asura God from one of Buddhism’s Heavenly Dragon eight divisions who took that soldier’s soul. He sent a letter to King Yama, so there’s no need to investigate this matter further."
Upon hearing this, Qin Shou, baring his teeth and grinning, said, "Are you saying Buddhism is stealing ghosts?"
Zhong Kui almost suffocated with frustration at Rabbit’s remark, and beating his chest, he said, "Don’t talk nonsense. The Asura God was originally the Asura King of the Asura Clan. There is one Path in the Six Paths of Reincarnation that leads to reincarnation into the Asura Path, also known in the world as the Demon Path. But the Asura Clan is different from any other race; they do not readily accept new blood. Their children are thrown into a blood pool at birth, and only those who survive are considered Asuras. They are then abandoned in the wilderness, and only those who survive and grow up will be accepted into the Asura Clan.
Consequently, almost everyone in the Asura Clan has a twisted personality. Their experiences mold them into fierce warriors, exceptional at combat. Known as the kings of all fighters, they are the strongest race when it comes to martial prowess.
The Asura Clan does not believe in Heaven or Earth, only in martial force.
However, there is one exception, which is the Nether River Patriarch. He was the first to inherit the Asura Clan’s cultivation method, therefore garnering the utmost respect from the clan. In the Nether River, anyone who speaks ill of the Nether River Patriarch will inevitably be attacked by the masses.
The Asura God was converted by a Bodhisattva, but since he had not resolved his worldly ties, he could not cultivate with a pure heart and thus has been acting as the link between Buddhism and the Asura Clan.
He has been instrumental in preventing any major wars between the two sides over the years."
At this, Qin Shou shook his head and said, "You’ve said so much, but what does that have to do with that old soldier?"
Zhong Kui replied, "I’ve already said, the Asura Clan won’t easily accept souls that have passed through reincarnation. They will use their own methods to select their kin... In their hearts, there is no Heaven or Earth, so naturally, there’s no regard for the Six Paths of Reincarnation either. The Nether River Patriarch set up a grand formation in the depths of the Nether River, using a spring of the river that can create its own cycle of reincarnation. Any soul he finds suitable is thrown into it, and those who come out are Asuras! These beings emerge fully grown, not very intelligent, but with a great capacity to learn. As for their combat prowess, they are innate warmongers with superb talents, making them the best warriors and soldiers, as well as excellent cultivation prospects."
