Rabbit Must Die
Chapter 398 - 11 Five Fingers Mountain [Fourth Update]_1

Chapter 398: Chapter 11 Five Fingers Mountain [Fourth Update]_1

Moreover, over the years, more and more Demon Lords began to tear off their hypocritical masks, unleashing their ambitions, claiming mountains as their own, burning, killing, plundering, and attacking each other, hunting Heavenly Gods, and seizing territories.

"If at first there was a single hand pushing the world into chaos, now there’s a group of hands taking the opportunity to divide it up. At this point, it doesn’t matter who the pushers are..." The God of Land saw things clearly and spoke plainly.

Qin Shou was also astonished, realizing that the current state of the Earthly Immortal Realm must be unimaginably chaotic. It would be best to stay low-key in the future because low-key living leads to longevity.

Qin Shou then asked, "Give it to me straight, how chaotic is the world exactly?"

The God of Land lowered his voice and said, "It’s chaos there people are not people, ghosts are not ghosts, you never know if the cultivator you’re facing is from the demons’ side or if the demon you’re about to kill is actually protecting the souls of a city..."

Qin Shou fell silent.

After bidding farewell to the God of Land, Qin Shou became even more determined to quickly improve his cultivation base and to reunite with Sun Wukong sooner.

One must be strong themselves, and when they’re not, they should find a strong backer. That is the path Qin Shou chose.

He had not gone far when he abruptly stopped and muttered, "Something’s off! Jindou Mountain, Jindou Cave... damn, I’ve been had!"

Qin Shou slapped his forehead and cursed aloud.

Qin Shou knew very well that what he feared most now were those foolish, powerful wild demons who understood nothing; what he feared least were the Heavenly Court above, those who knew him inside out.

If Qin Shou remembered correctly, squatting inside Jindou Mountain’s Jindou Cave should be the Supreme Elder Lord’s green ox!

He was so sure firstly because it was far too easy for him to have escaped;

Secondly, the Supreme Elder Lord’s mount, the green ox, is known as Jinsi General; its name is Si and also called Jindou General!

After adding up various coinciding factors, there was no doubt that it was that old ox!

However, Qin Shou did not turn back to look for the green ox, as he was not familiar with it and had no time for it.

The only thing on Qin Shou’s mind was to release Sun Wukong from beneath the Five Fingers Mountain as soon as possible.

He sprinted all the way, seeing a large mountain ahead resembling five fingers joined together!

The peaks soared high into the clouds, piercing through the heavens, but the mountain was indeed peculiar: bare without a single tree, let alone any living creatures.

Meanwhile, at the base of the Five Fingers Mountain,

a withered old man held a cloth bag as he laboriously climbed over large stones, arriving at an inconspicuous corner.

Here, the sun was never seen all year round, moss was everywhere, and if one did not look closely, they would notice nothing.

But upon close inspection, one would definitely see a monkey’s head buried within the moss!

The old man chuckled bitterly, "Monkey, we’re moving. This is the last of the food; keep it for yourself. I suppose nobody will be around Two Realms Mountain from now on..."

Sun Wukong lifted his head and said, "You, kid, why bring me food? I, born of Heaven and Earth, can swallow ten thousand li of clouds and mist in one breath, immortal and undying. I won’t starve to death; take it with you."

The old man laughed, "My great-grandfather heard you boasting from when he was a child, yet I’ve never seen you display any abilities. Quit bragging, and don’t starve to death. I’m still hoping you come out someday and take me to see Heaven. Ah... I wonder if I’ll ever get to see those celestial clouds in my lifetime."

With a face full of world-weariness and hope, the old man ended with a long sigh and said to Sun Wukong, "Monkey, I’m truly leaving this time. Take care."

Sun Wukong was startled and asked, "Why do you have to go? Didn’t you say that this place is blessed with good weather, and that you would live here generation after generation?"

The old man sighed and shook his head, "A few days ago, a demon came, and every night it would snatch away a child to eat. The village had previously sought the help of exorcists, but, unfortunately, they too were captured and eaten. The demon became furious and declared that it would eat two children every day, and if there were no children, it would eat adults instead. There are only a hundred and eighty people in the entire village; how can we withstand such terror? Alas... how did our peaceful times become so chaotic? In the past, we could see Deity Generals offering protection, but now demons are running rampant, alas..."

After saying this, the old man turned to leave.

Sun Wukong, however, was silent for a moment before muttering to himself, "What in Heaven has actually happened? I merely fought a few minor gods, was it really worthy of this?"

Then Sun Wukong called out, "Kid, don’t go! With your little speed, how far can you travel in a day? When the demon comes, a whisk of demon wind will catch up with you, and none of you will live to see another day."

The old man was stunned and said with a crying tone, "What... what can we do now?"

Sun Wukong said, "Go back to the village, and call everyone who hasn’t left yet."

"Call them here?" the old man asked in utter astonishment.

Sun Wukong said, "Yes, call them all here, and hide in front of me. If that demon dares to come, I’ll blow it dead with one breath!"

The old man gave a bitter smile and said, "Monkey, this is not the time for boasting. Alas, I’ll go back and discuss this with the village head. What you said makes sense. Running away might indeed be futile. If we anger the demon, I fear not one of us would survive."

After saying this, the old man quickly walked away.

Sun Wukong looked at him speechlessly, but still unwilling to give up, he called out, "Kid, I’m not joking! Would you like me to prove it to you?"

However, the old man had already walked far away, and faintly, Sun Wukong heard him saying, "Forget it... forget it..."

Sun Wukong couldn’t really blow a breath either; after all, if he did, stones would fly about, which could harm the nearby villagers. He could only helplessly sigh and grumble, "That damn rabbit, I have no idea where it’s gone to. Not seen alive, nor found dead... If I see it, I must give it a good pounding!"

As he spoke, Sun Wukong’s face was filled with a look of dejection, clearly recalling something sorrowful.

The old man ran all the way back to the village, but as soon as he entered the village, he was dumbfounded!

He saw that the old tree at the entrance of the village was covered with corpses!

Men, women, the elderly, and children alike!

All familiar faces!

Blood was still dripping down!

The old man was so frightened that he sat down on the ground with a thump.

Not far away, a group of villagers stood at the village entrance, watching. Leading them was an old man with white, silvery hair, leaning on a walking stick and sighing, "Misfortune! Such misfortune!"

"Old Liu, you’re back, ah..." the village head greeted the old man when he saw him.

Old Liu staggered to his feet and walked over to the village head, pointing at the tree, unable to utter a word for a long while.

The village head said, "Yes, it’s Liu Fang and the others. They were the first group to leave the village. They left yesterday, and today they were hanging from the tree... This is the demon issuing a warning to us. If we leave the village, we will be killed immediately... alas..."

Old Liu said furiously, "This is too much! If it were just eating people to fill its belly, so be it, but this is not eating; this is toying with us!"
