Chapter 306: Chapter 303: Girl, Get on the Furnace!_1
Soon, the warship arrived on the moon, and these demons were naturally handed over to Shakun and Jinghan to arrange their stay in Fenghua City.
Everyone remembered Qin Shou’s words—harmony!
So when the two groups came together, there was no awkwardness; instead, they quickly integrated into one.
For a time, Fenghua City got even busier...
At this moment, Qin Shou, checking the time, realized that Chang’e was about to return, and his moment to impress was just around the corner.
In the evening, Chang’e returned, standing in the sky, staring in astonishment at the palaces below.
The three Moon Palaces already covered a vast area, and now there was an addition of Fenghua Tower, stretching the expanse of the Moon Palace for tens of thousands of miles!
That wouldn’t have been strange, considering the Rabbit had brought back three Moon Palaces already, so adding another palace was not something out of the ordinary.
What was strange was the moon, usually so desolate, now bustling with life and vigor! Chang’e was puzzled for a moment, wondering, "Could I have gone to the wrong place?"
Just then, three cannon shots rang out, followed by the sounds of instruments playing, music filled the air, the clouds of demons churned, war drums thundered, and then came the simultaneous shouts from every direction!
From within the clouds of demons, a troop of neatly arranged demons charged up!
Chang’e’s beautiful complexion faded as she was about to turn away and call for reinforcements, only to see at the front of the demon army, a rabbit riding a white seahorse, donned in white gold armor, with a golden crown atop its head, holding a miniature Fangtian Halberd, leading the charge!
Upon seeing this, Chang’e was stunned; she was unfamiliar with anyone else’s dumb rabbit, but she knew this troublesome one all too well. So she stopped, staying put to see what kind of trouble this damn rabbit had stirred up now.
"Halt!" The army screeched to a stop, although due to insufficient training, many collided and fell off their mounts. But as soon as they saw Chang’e, everyone gasped and stood dumbfounded once again.
However, Qin Shou pretended not to notice and looked solemnly at Chang’e before him, standing with his halberd and extending one hand, using what he considered his most magnetic and authoritative voice to say, "Babe, I’m back."
Seeing this, Chang’e first felt helpless, then a smile crept over her lips, and she reached out her hand to place it in his, saying, "It’s good that you’re back."
Qin Shou said, "Babe, get on... uh, wait a moment..."
Qin Shou threw the Eight Trigrams Furnace down, saying, "Enlarge a bit!"
The Eight Trigrams Furnace indeed grew larger, Qin Shou hopped on, and said, "Babe, get on the furnace... ahem... this feels so awkward..."
Chang’e, not minding at all, followed suit and jumped on. Qin Shou slapped the furnace and said, "Giddy-up! Let’s go!"
The Eight Trigrams Furnace, after a moment of being speechless, complained, "Rabbit, I am a furnace, a pot, a tank, but not a carriage!"
Qin Shou replied, "It’s all the same, just go..."
"Why don’t you ride a horse?" the Eight Trigrams Furnace grumbled.
Qin Shou looked at the small seahorse he was riding—which was just right for him. If Chang’e got on it, they would probably end up collecting its body... He sighed, "When I, the Rabbit Lord, grow up, I must get a beautiful big white horse to greet my girl!"
Chang’e pursed her lips, chuckled, and said nothing, just rubbed Qin Shou’s head and then sneakily pinched his chubby butt, whispering, "You knew to come back..."
Upon hearing this, Qin Shou suddenly felt guilty inside. He had asked Chang’e for a week’s leave initially, then went off to Fangcun Mountain for a few days, followed by seven days in the East Sea, clearly overstaying his time! He thought that a romantic welcome ceremony might cover it up, but as it turns out... women are indeed good at keeping accounts!
As the furnace ran off into the distance...
The confused army in the sky finally came back to their senses, each looking at the other...
In the end...
"Phew... So that’s it."
"No wonder the Rabbit Lord didn’t even spare a glance at the ladies of Fenghua Tower, it turns out he has such a beauty at home!"
"So beautiful! Too beautiful! Just one look, and I forgot to breathe, I nearly suffocated."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah... Worthy of being the Rabbit Lord’s woman, truly beautiful!"
"Shut up! That’s the Lady, show some respect, each and every one of you. If anyone dares to be disrespectful, I’ll smack them to death!" Yibing suddenly jumped out and shouted.
Yibing didn’t usually command much respect, and some were poised to retort, only to find Big Four Joys and Yaoji had moved behind Yibing, and Shakun, Jinghan, Raoteng, and Eel had also joined their side.
Everyone immediately understood that Yibing’s status had changed, so they all bowed their heads obediently, listening and taking heed, not daring to talk back.
Seeing this, Yibing waved and said, "Okay, everyone disperse."
The demons scattered...
As the crowd left, Yibing’s tense face suddenly relaxed, and with a whine he said, "You guys are all so powerful, why do you have to push me to do this? You scared the life out of me... What would I do if a bunch of them charged at me?"
Big Four Joys, Jinghan, Raoteng, Eel, and the others laughed and said, "You need to get used to your position, stop being so cowardly all the time."
Yaoji spoke earnestly, "Hang in there, Yibing, you have great talent, and you’re bound to become a master someday. We’re just helping you get a feel for it ahead of time."
Shakun slung an arm over Yibing’s shoulder and said, "Stop whining, tell me, did it feel good or not?"
Yibing grinned and said, "It felt amazing! Truly damn amazing!"
Everyone laughed...
Qin Shou, regardless of what his subordinates were up to, climbed down from the Eight Trigrams Furnace and was dragged into the room by Chang’e, who was holding his ear.
As always, Qin Shou sat down on a small stool and began to tell Chang’e about his adventures in the Lower Realm...
Chang’e listened and laughed, asking questions from time to time, until she got tired and sleepy, and went to bed...
Qin Shou tucked Chang’e in and watched her peaceful and perfect face for a long time before he quietly left the room, exited the Moon Palace, and headed straight for the King of Osmanthus Tree.
Crackle...
The campfire illuminated the surroundings as Wu Gang flipped the grill in front of him, taking a bite of the crab-yellow pastry that Qin Shou had brought back from the East Sea Dragon Palace. "Rabbit," he said, "you’ve stirred up quite a commotion this time."
Qin Shou grimaced, "How big of a deal could it be? Just a few demons..."
"Are you sure it was just for a few demons?" Wu Gang asked unclearly as he stuffed the pastry into his mouth.
"What else could it be?" Qin Shou asked.
Wu Gang clapped his hands and asked, "So you’re really that sure you’re going to die?"
Qin Shou’s hand shook... the pastry almost fell to the ground. He laughed awkwardly, "What nonsense? I will live forever and ever!"
"Forever and ever, but that’s just the time it takes for me to fart," Wu Gang said.
"Can’t you speak properly?" Qin Shou asked.
"Who asked you to lie?" Wu Gang retorted.
Qin Shou said, "Can’t I raise an army, raise a banner, rebel and become a king or something?"
Wu Gang looked at Rabbit’s face and laughed, "With your lazy attitude, would you even bother with such boring stuff?" Without waiting for Qin Shou to respond, Wu Gang waved his hand, gesturing Qin Shou to stop and asked very seriously again, "So you really believe that you are going to die?"
Qin Shou fell silent. He wanted to ramble on, but eventually, he sighed, looked up at the sky, and said, "A Saint once told me that I must not cultivate because the more I do, the bigger my appetite will get, eventually becoming too much for the Heavenly Dao to tolerate. But I’ve found my appetite growing larger and larger... Sooner or later, it will happen. And when I’m gone, with some people beside Chang’e, she won’t be too lonely. Plus, she always needs some people to look after her for me to have peace of mind."
Wu Gang also fell silent...
Neither of them knew how long the silence lasted, but eventually, Qin Shou stood up, patted his bottom, and said, "Of course, you don’t have to be too lonely either. With Fenghua City offering wine, meat, tailors, and a blacksmith, you should change your clothes... always being naked is kind of rogue-like."
Wu Gang rolled his eyes. How was it his fault? He used to have clothes, pants, trousers, belts!
As Qin Shou turned to leave, and once he was far away, Wu Gang suddenly said, "What if I told you there was a way for you to survive? Would you want to try it?"
Qin Shou was startled, looked back at Wu Gang, and asked, "Really?"
"Really!" Wu Gang affirmed.
Qin Shou’s eyes lit up, and he laughed, "You’re not kidding me?"
"I’m not kidding you!" Wu Gang smiled.
Qin Shou said, "That’s loyalty! Tell me! I’m all ears! As long as I can live, I don’t care whether I have to scale a mountain of swords or plunge into a sea of flames!"
Wu Gang shook his head and said with a mysterious air, "The secrets of Heaven cannot be revealed; it’s not yet time. When the time comes, I will naturally tell you. Until then, you need to try hard to survive. When the moment of fate arrives, I will help you break through!"
Qin Shou immediately rejoiced and laughed heartily, "That’s loyalty!"
After speaking, Qin Shou took out a jar of wine and threw it to Wu Gang, "This is a treasured brew from the East Sea Dragon Palace, Sea Soul Brew, said to be made from countless rare treasures of the sea. Try it!"
Wu Gang took it and said, "You do have a conscience!"
After saying this, Wu Gang broke the seal and with a tilt of his head, drank!
Qin Shou turned around and whooshed away in a trail of dust, disappearing in an instant...
Once the Rabbit was far away, not a drop of wine actually poured out for Wu Gang. Instead, he sighed deeply, stood up, and went back to chopping the osmanthus tree.
The night passed without incident. The next day, Chang’e went to report at Yuying Hall as usual.
Qin Shou also left the Moon Palace and headed straight for the Heavenly Court. This trip to the Lower Realm didn’t result in borrowing the dragon, but the rain still needed to fall in the Imperial Garden. However, how to make it rain had stumped Qin Shou.
Although some of the Sea Clan that Qin Shou brought back could use water-related magic, their strength was insufficient to enter through the Southern Gate or get into the Heavenly Court, so they could only be left on the moon...
Just as Qin Shou was worrying, he found himself outside the Imperial Garden by accident and saw that Raoteng and Baiwen were still lazily sitting outside the garden napping. But that wasn’t the point! The point was, sitting on the steps at the entrance of the Imperial Garden was a bright red object...
Qin Shou moved closer and saw it was a little Fire Chicken, engulfed in flames and dozing off, drooling over something it dreamed about. Its flames were peculiar; they did not evaporate the drool but allowed it to stretch into a long string before finally - splat - hitting the ground...
Qin Shou casually pulled over a twig, reached out, and poked it. With a "puff," the twig was instantly turned to ash by the flames.
The Fire Chicken woke up all at once, shouting, "Who’s the death wisher messing with this girl?!"
