Rabbit Must Die
Chapter 235 - 232 Two Bad Guys_1

Chapter 235: Chapter 232 Two Bad Guys_1

Taibai Star Monarch was taken aback, then looking at Qin Shou with a smile, he said, "Heh heh... don’t even think about that, they’re not short-staffed over there right now."

Qin Shou immediately said, "Then, does the Doushuai Palace need a child servant to watch the Pill Furnace? I’ve learned a bit about Artifact Refining, so helping to watch the fire should be fine, right?"

Taibai Star Monarch said, "You, stop getting ahead of yourself. We’ll talk about it when there’s a chance in the future. Right now, what you need to do is take good care of the flowers and plants in the Imperial Garden... Heavenly official, come here, take this Rabbit to start his job in the Imperial Garden."

A heavenly official who happened to be passing by heard Taibai Star Monarch’s summons, and immediately looked over. He was just about to pay his respects when he suddenly saw the Rabbit and immediately stopped in his tracks.

Qin Shou looked at him, feeling somewhat familiar, and upon closer inspection, burst out laughing, "I know you!"

The heavenly official shuddered and said, "Rabbit, you’ve got the wrong person."

"Impossible! You owe me two Moon Palaces! Hand them over now!" Qin Shou extended his paw, demanding.

Hearing this, the heavenly official nearly cried, having hidden for so long only to bump into this Rabbit...

Taibai Star Monarch was taken aback and asked, "What two Moon Palaces?"

The heavenly official recounted the previous incident with a look of misery...

After listening, Taibai Star Monarch said skeptically, "Rabbit, the Jade Emperor was ’emphasizing’ at that time."

Qin Shou said, "Are you sure? Anyway, every time I mentioned it he rewarded me with one, that adds up to three, so there are still two missing. I don’t care, less is less! Otherwise, shall we go back and ask the Jade Emperor again?"

Upon hearing this, Taibai Star Monarch was at a loss for words. Go back to the Jade Emperor over this trivial matter? Was he looking to make his own death more spectacular or what?

The heavenly official looked to Taibai Star Monarch, who then looked up to the sky and said, "The weather is quite nice today... Rabbit, you guys chat, I’m going to go."

As he spoke, Taibai Star Monarch just walked away...

The heavenly official was dumbfounded. Did this mean Taibai Star Monarch was washing his hands of the matter?

The Rabbit extended a paw and said, "Where’s the Moon Palace?"

"Rabbit, look, you go ahead and start your job first, and later I’ll bring it over to you, okay?" the heavenly official asked, looking pitifully distressed.

Only then did Qin Shou laugh contentedly, "Alright, then I’ll wait. If you don’t bring it to me, next time I see the Jade Emperor, I’ll ask him myself when he’ll give it to me."

Upon hearing this, the heavenly official shuddered again. Ask the Jade Emperor over such a small matter? If the Jade Emperor blamed him, the official shuddered once more...

Qin Shou said, "Heavenly official, what’s with you? Shivering non-stop, did you pee yourself? Shivering? Kidney deficiency?"

In the heavenly official’s mind: "...Damn it!"

Walking along the central main road, you can’t get to the Imperial Garden. You have to pass by Tongming Hall, turn at the Mental Cultivation Hall, and keep going forward before you reach the place where the Imperial Garden is located.

Upon reaching the top of a nearby mountain, Qin Shou looked towards the distant Imperial Garden and was instantly dumbstruck, only to see that the Imperial Garden was endless, stretching for thousands of miles, with mountains and rivers, flying birds, fierce animals, and exotic beasts popping out from time to time, hopping chaotically... Qin Shou clicked his tongue, "Is this the Imperial Garden? Looks more like the Amazon Rainforest, right?"

"What is the Amazon Rainforest?" the heavenly official asked.

Qin Shou shook his head, "No, not even the Amazon is this big, right?"

The heavenly official didn’t understand but still patiently explained, "This is the Imperial Garden. Although it’s called a garden, what it actually is, no one can say for sure."

"What do you mean?" Qin Shou asked, surprised.

The heavenly official explained, "Well, the Imperial Garden is probably the most ancient existence in the entire heavenly palace, it was here even before the palace was built. The Jade Emperor thought this place was nice and named it the Imperial Garden, coming over for a stroll now and then... At the same time, the Imperial Garden is also the largest place in the heavenly palace, stretching for who knows how many miles. Up to this day, even the local God of Land hasn’t been able to traverse the entire Imperial Garden..."

"What?! It’s that large?!" Qin Shou was completely astounded, this was no garden, it was more like a whole world!

The heavenly official gave a wry smile, "It’s not so much about its size, but rather that the Imperial Garden is quite peculiar; or rather, it seems to have many restrictions placed upon it. While here, one cannot fly in a straight line, winding around and around, so the area you can actually wander is not that vast. See that big snow mountain in the distance?"

Qin Shou looked and sure enough, at the very edge of the sky was a snow mountain shrouded in clouds, ethereal, with its actual existence in doubt.

The heavenly official said, "That snow mountain can be seen from here, but no one has ever managed to get close to it, no matter from which angle you look, it’s always at the end of the sky."

Qin Shou was speechless... Looking at it this way, this place indeed was peculiar.

Qin Shou carefully observed the animals and plants below and said, "Heavenly official, these animals and plants below look quite ordinary. I’ve seen many of them in Divine Wood Valley..."

The heavenly official said, "If you walk further inside, you’ll see that plants of the heavenly, earthly, profound, and yellow levels are all here, except for one of the heavenly level plants being singular. However, I advise you not to get close to the profound level plants or those above. Those fellows are troublesome and have quite the temper."

"Quite the temper, how bad are we talking?" Qin Shou inquired curiously.

The heavenly official was about to say something when a cloud of rosy light ascended, bringing two people with it.

One man was covered in tiger-striped tattoos and towered at two and a half meters tall, with fangs protruding over his lips, clutching a steel trident.

The other was not so tall, only reaching the thigh height of the tiger-tattooed man. He held a withered vine walking stick, and judging by his attire, he looked similar to the other local Gods of Land, likely the local one.

"Aye, we have a newcomer!" The God of Land chuckled as he eyed Qin Shou, but his gaze wasn’t so much appraising a person as it was eyeing up a lamb for slaughter.

The man with tiger tattoos laughed with a "heh heh" and said, "It’s not easy, is it? Eh? That’s wrong, this is a rabbit, right? Immortal Xu, did you bring this to treat us brothers? But one rabbit, though quite plump, isn’t enough to fill us up!"

The God of Land nodded in agreement and licked his lips, adding, "However, such a plump rabbit is rare. If we roasted it, it would probably taste good."

Upon hearing this, Qin Shou squinted his eyes and remained silent...

Immortal Xu from the side said, "Gentlemen, this is the rabbit specifically assigned by the Jade Emperor to work at the Imperial Garden, Qin Shou."

No sooner had he finished speaking...

"Wahaha... brute! Haha... brute, haha... Turning a rabbit into a brute, that counts as a promotion, right? Haha..." The man with tiger tattoos and the God of Land rolled back and forth on the clouds, laughing exaggeratedly.

Immortal Xu’s face was a picture of embarrassment as he looked worriedly at the rabbit next to him. The rabbit, however, was watching the scene with a grin, seemingly not bothered at all.

But Immortal Xu had a feeling that the rabbit was not indifferent, but rather brewing something.

Immortal Xu ignored the two and said to Qin Shou, "These are the God of Land and the Mountain God of the Imperial Garden. The God of Land is named Raoteng, and the Mountain God is named Baiwen. From now on, you’ll be colleagues. If there’s anything you don’t understand, you can ask them."

"You can ask, but our jobs are different. We are responsible for the security of the animals, and you’re in charge of feeding them, ahahaha..." The two characters started laughing again, especially when they said "feeding them," laughing particularly joyously and somewhat slyly.

Immortal Xu sighed under his breath and whispered, "Rabbit, though they are just the God of Land and Mountain God, they indeed have a say in the Imperial Garden and have stayed the longest and are most familiar with it. Once inside, try to get along with them, alright?"

Qin Shou grinned at Immortal Xu and said, "I understand, don’t worry about it, we’re going to get along very well."

Raoteng stood up, pinched Qin Shou’s cheek, and said, "Don’t worry, we’ll take very good care of this plump rabbit."

Baiwen followed up, "Immortal Xu, the handover is complete. Go where you need to go... We’ve got to patrol the Imperial Garden."

Immortal Xu looked at Qin Shou with some concern, but Qin Shou said with a smile, "Don’t worry, Immortal Xu, I’m fine, bye."

Then Qin Shou followed Baiwen and Raoteng as they soared up...

Watching the three figures fading away, Immortal Xu sighed, "I hope you live a few more years... None of the previous ones lived past a hundred years..."

"Rabbit, did you come from the Moon Palace?" Baiwen asked in surprise.

Qin Shou replied, "Mhm."

Raoteng said, "The Moon Palace, huh? As far as I know, that’s a dead place, right? Yet it somehow fattened you up..."

While speaking, Raoteng pinched the rabbit’s face again, and then the three of them alighted from the clouds into the forest of the Imperial Garden.

Upon landing, Baiwen and Raoteng abruptly changed their demeanor; the smiles on their faces vanished in an instant, and they puffed out their chests and looked down their noses at Qin Shou, one on each side of him.

Qin Shou bared his teeth and said, "Gentlemen, is there a problem?"

Raoteng laughed with a "heh heh" and said, "Rabbit, since you’re here, we brothers have to tell you the rules."

Qin Shou nodded obediently, looking all ears.

Raoteng flicked a finger and an image of the Imperial Garden appeared in the void, dividing it into three sections in the shape of the character "品". Then he pointed to the three sections and said, "We won’t pick on you; the Imperial Garden is only so big, so we’ll divide it equally. I’m in charge of the east side, Baiwen takes the west side, and you’ll handle the northernmost area.

Our task is simple; every morning, go to that mountain where you arrived, to the Spirit Plant Hall to collect feed for various Spirit Beasts and plants, then go to your own territory to feed the local Spirit Beasts and fertilize the plants. And one more critical point..."

As he spoke, Raoteng pointed at the trees overhead and said, "This is the Imperial Garden, not some wild forest, so you must prune all the plants here, ensuring it’s clean, sanitary, and beautiful. Got it?"

Qin Shou stroked his chin and asked, "What counts as beautiful?"

Baiwen laughed, "That’s up to your own aesthetic ability. If you do well, and the Jade Emperor is pleased on his rounds, the rewards are not small. If not well done, and the Jade Emperor is displeased, snap..." Baiwen made a chopping gesture at his neck, laughing with a "heh heh."

"Alright, we’ve said what we need to say. Go to your own territory, and don’t wander around without reason," Raoteng started to shoo him away.

Qin Shou chuckled, "Big brothers, you’ve talked so much and given so much guidance that I’m somewhat embarrassed. How about this, let’s have a drink to celebrate our acquaintance, what do you say?"
