Chapter 76: Chapter 76 Wedding Countdown (5)_1

"Mr. Ruiz personally came to pick it out, how could it not be complete?" Clara Martinez answered. The fact that Ruiz, the ever-elusive assistant of Glades Horne, came to select a gown in person showed how much Glades valued Rachel Bailey as a bridesmaid.

The more it was so, the more curious Clara became. Could there be some problem with the Horne and Bluen families’ marriage alliance since they canceled the attendance of these people?

"Oh. Clara, I have an urgent matter to attend to, I’d better leave now." Julia Bluen, hearing that Hansen Ruiz had personally selected it, felt reassured. She immediately smiled apologetically at Clara Martinez, then quickly walked over to Rachel Bailey, who was looking around at the wedding dresses. She took Rachel by the hand, and they headed downstairs.

"Julia... That girl, always in such a hurry to come and go," Clara shook her head and muttered.

After leaving the Happiness Wedding Dress Studio, Julia Bluen mimicked Glades Horne, keeping her red lips tightly sealed and saying nothing. She escorted Rachel Bailey back to the Emerald Garden Building and then hurriedly left.

Later, as if remembering something, she pulled over to the side of the road.

The rain had stopped. Pedestrians on the street were strolling, talking and laughing, no longer in the rush they had been during the downpour.

The green belts, washed by the rain, their emerald green leaves looked even more vibrant and lush. Some leaves bore sparkling droplets, steadily dripping to the ground.

Julia Bluen took out her phone and entered Glades Horne’s phone number. As soon as the call connected, Glades picked up.

"Julia." His voice was as deep as ever, imbued with a tenderness reserved only for her. It sounded so comforting, unconsciously lifting one’s spirits.

"Where are you?" Julia asked eagerly. She suddenly felt a strong urge to see him, even though they had just had lunch together.

"At home," Glades responded. His room was being redecorated to include the red ’double happiness’ emblem, and he was personally overseeing the servants’ work. "What’s wrong? Did something happen?" Hearing the urgency in Julia’s voice, he asked with concern. "Where are you right now? I’ll come to you immediately."

"No need, I’m coming to you." Julia ended the call, started the engine, turned the car around, and headed for the Golden Kirin Garden.

On the other end, Glades Horne looked at the disconnected call on his phone, his handsome face somewhat solemn, his brows slightly furrowed. Something must have happened to Julia.

"Brother, what’s wrong? Did something happen to my soon-to-be sister-in-law?" Standing not far from Glades Horne and also helping with the room decorations, James Horne asked casually. As he uttered the words "sister-in-law," a strange flicker crossed his cold eyes.

Last night, he had gotten drunk at the Blue Moon Pub, drinking too much. That’s why he hadn’t gone out today, sleeping until Glades Horne got home. Seeing Glades personally redecorating the bridal room, he "kindly" offered to help.

Every time he saw those big red "happiness" characters, his heart turned a shade darker.

"I don’t know. She didn’t say over the phone, but she sounded very urgent," Glades Horne responded calmly and turned to leave the room. "James, you keep an eye on things here. I’ll go pick her up." His voice trailed back as he had already reached the stairs, his movements nearly a blur with speed.

Watching his elder brother’s calm demeanor, which barely concealed his care and concern for Julia Bluen, James Horne felt extremely uncomfortable. His brother had never been so anxious for him; even though Glades cared about their sibling bond, his attitude towards James was always distant and cold.

At this moment, a jealous hatred for Julia Bluen filled James Horne’s heart.

Staring intently at the closed room door, James Horne’s handsome face became even more inscrutable and cold than usual. The servants, busy with their work and knowing the Fourth Young Master’s cold temperament, dared not pay too much attention to his expression.

He walked over to Glades Horne’s bed, which had been replaced with a brand new one, and sat down, his icy gaze sweeping around the room. Glades’ room in the large villa was the most spacious, featuring a ’room within a room’ design. Besides the Bedroom, it also contained a small Pub, a Study Room, and a gym; even the Bathroom was larger than others. Opening the curtains of the French windows revealed the entire front yard landscape at a glance. Stepping onto the balcony captured all the scenery of the Backyard as well, offering uniquely beautiful views and a distinct advantage.

His large hand, with a touch of greed, gently caressed the large bed. James Horne’s sensually cold lips pursed into a thin line, a hint of longing tingeing the depths of his eyes, sparkling with a rare tenderness. Yet, it was unclear whom he was truly thinking of.

"What are you doing here?" The room door was suddenly pushed open, and Mila Anderson and Adele Horne walked in. Seeing James Horne sitting on Glades Horne’s wedding bed, caressing it with a strange expression, Mila Anderson’s well-maintained, beautiful face immediately darkened.

"Aunt." James Horne calmly retracted his hand, showing no sign of panic at being caught. Having honed his skills in the Shopping Mall for several years and, on his own merits, established a kitchenware company of considerable size with over 2,000 employees, he possessed the same composure as Glades Horne when commanding an army.

Standing up from the marital bed, he said coldly to Mila Anderson, "Brother had something come up and asked me to keep an eye on things. Aunt, since you’re here now, you can watch over it for him." Having said this, he didn’t wait for Mila Anderson’s response and strode past Mila and her daughter out of the room.

He had been taken into the Horne Family for upbringing at a young age, bearing the title of Fourth Young Master, but his aunt had always been cold to him, guarding against him as if he were a thief. She never showed any concern for him in daily life. Even though his mother had stolen half of his father’s affection, that couldn’t be entirely blamed on her. It was the aunt’s failure to keep a close watch on his father that gave him the opportunity to have an affair. Besides, such matters take two to tango; if the aunt wanted to hate someone, she should hate herself and his father first. And he, no matter what, was of Horne blood.

"My son’s affairs don’t need your interference," Mila Anderson snapped, turning towards the closed door, her voice filled with resentment.

She was not kind to James Horne, and he was not kind to her either. They behaved like strangers when they met.

"Mom, why did you even let him come back all those years ago? Every time I see that icy face of his, which resembles Brother so closely, I’m reminded of that wretched woman stealing Dad from us, and him stealing the fatherly love that belonged to me and my brother. It makes me furious," Adele Horne grumbled discontentedly.
