Chapter 165: Chapter 155, Discourse of the Heavenly Emperor

Bai Jin said with confusion, "Why?"

Hao Tian said tactfully, "The Heavenly Court lacks Immortal Gods, but we cannot accept mediocrity just to fill the ranks. It is absolutely impossible for someone with only the strength of a Heavenly Immortal to assume the position of a Star Lord."

Bai Jin immediately understood. It must have been those disciples, capitalizing on their status as Saint Disciples, making excessive demands. Yet the authority of Heaven and Earth is not so easily obtained. Each harboring their wild ambitions, he promptly said with seriousness, "Some disciples neither have the temperament nor the Cultivation to pass, making you, Uncle-Master, the subject of ridicule."

"I hope Brother does not think that I intentionally slighted them," Hao Tian said with a sigh, shaking his head.

"Uncle-Master, rest assured, I will return and inform Master of the situation and see to it that those disciples are strictly punished."

"Actually, it’s not much of an issue, as long as Brother does not misunderstand me. I hear that the Jie Sect has many outstanding disciples," Hao Tian said with anticipation, looking at Bai Jin.

So you think you can poach the treasured disciples of my Master, you wish! The Ten Thousand Immortals Formation is now the foundation of the Jie Sect; how could my Master possibly hand over his disciples to you?

Bai Jin spoke with gravity, "Uncle-Master, this is only a temporary solution and not a cure. Moreover, employing a large number of Jie Sect disciples in the Heavenly Court will not benefit you.

Do you know why my Masters are unwilling to personally assist you?"

Could it be that they look down on me? Hao Tian shook his head and said, "I don’t know!"

Bai Jin said seriously, "Uncle-Master, if my Masters were to help you lay the foundation of the Heavenly Court, would it still be your Heavenly Court? If disciples of the Three Sects could interfere with the affairs of the Heavenly Court at will, I’m afraid the Heavenly Court might become the backyard of the Three Sects. Is that what you want?"

Hao Tian shook his head subconsciously, and after careful thought, if indeed the three senior brothers meddled with establishing the foundation of the Heavenly Court, such a scenario is not impossible, he said with shock, "So that means I’ve wronged the three senior brothers. They were actually looking out for me."

Bai Jin nodded in agreement, "Exactly! My Master often says, ’All of the Mysterious Sect are one family; family members should help each other.’ In fact, by not assisting you, my Masters and Masters’ Senior Brothers are offering you the greatest help."

Hao Tian rubbed his forehead, feeling a bit of a headache, thinking how this sounded a bit strange, yet it seemed to make sense, he reflected, "So that’s how it is, I should be more grateful to Brother."

Bai Jin said righteously, "My Master and Masters’ Senior Brothers said caring for junior brothers and sisters is the duty of a senior brother; no thanks are needed."

He reflected, "I shouldn’t be telling you these words.

My Master and Masters’ Senior Brothers all know that you might misunderstand them, but they don’t care. My Master said that only those who strive and stand up on their own will be truly strong; they don’t want you to develop a sense of dependency."

Hao Tian looked up at the sky, reflecting, "So it is! The three senior brothers are kind-hearted, I understand now."

He said with a wry smile, shaking his head, "But I’ve disappointed my senior brothers. Without their help, there has been no progress since I took the title of Heavenly Emperor."

"Uncle-Master, have you not started recruiting talented individuals?"

Hao Tian spoke in a low voice, "After several days of recruitment, the highest we got were two Profound Immortals, the rest are mostly Heavenly Immortals, True Immortals, and even some Cultivators who have not yet achieved immortality; they can only serve as menial workers."

"Who are those two Profound Immortals?"

"Li Changgeng and Xuan Nu. Xuan Nu has been taken by the Turquoise Pool for guidance," Hao Tian said with a long sigh. "Who knows how many years it will take for the Heavenly Court to get on the right path, it is difficult indeed!"

"Uncle-Master, actually, your recruitment strategy is correct. The Underworld also started properly because of this."

Hao Tian looked at Bai Jin with expectation, "Nephew, you overseen the recruitment for the Underworld, right? I heard that the day of the recruitment saw Immortals like clouds and God Demons like a forest, how did you do it? Why does our Heavenly Court have no one?"

"Uncle-Master, in truth, the Heavenly Court is simply lacking in reputation," Bai Jin said with a serious expression.

"Reputation?"

Bai Jin nodded and continued, "Originally, when Houtu Ancestor Witch transformed into the Underworld, it was a momentous event that shook the Primordial World, and everyone knew that the lord of the Underworld was the greatly compassionate and kind Ping Xin, comparable to a Saint.

But Uncle-Master, since you took over the Heavenly Court, it has been done quietly, with only a very small number of Great Divine Power users knowing of Your Majesty’s identity.

The way the Primordial Immortals view the Heavenly Court still resides in the era of the Demon Court, so they maintain a strong caution towards the Heavenly Court and dare not come to seek employment."

Hao Tian nodded repeatedly and said, "That makes sense; what you’re saying is very true, Nephew."

Bai Jin snapped his fingers and proclaimed, "Thus, Uncle-Master, what you need to do now is establish your reputation and acquaint the Primordial Immortals with you as the new Heavenly Emperor."

Hao Tian pondered and stated, "Maybe I should spread my name throughout the Primordial World."

"Your name alone is useless. Uncle-Master, what you need is a public image, to build up your public image is what’s needed."

Hao Tian was puzzled and inquired, "Public image? What is that?"

How is it that this junior nephew speaks in such confusing terms?

"Public image, as the name implies, means character setting. Simply put, it’s about what kind of Heavenly Emperor you want to be: gentle, domineering, cold, kind, or cruel."

"Why didn’t you say so earlier?" Hao Tian muttered to himself then shook his head after a moment of consideration and replied, "Actually, I haven’t quite decided yet."

"Uncle-Master, what do you think a Heavenly Emperor should be like?" Bai Jin prompted.

Hao Tian stroked his chin and answered, "He should be high above the Nine Heavens, worshipped by countless immortal gods and living beings, with the power to change Heaven and Earth with a single word, and reverse Yin and Yang with a glance." As he spoke, he even laughed at himself, and added chuckling, "But that’s impossible. To me, being the Heavenly Emperor is just a job, managing the order of Heaven and Earth, that’s all."

Bai Jin spoke admiringly, "Uncle-Master, your nature leaves this disciple in awe. You are unaffected by material joy or personal sorrow; you embody the impartial Tao, devoted entirely to the Primordial World. Uncle-Master, you are the illuminating light that the beings of the Primordial World long for, a wise and just Monarch!"

Hao Tian was momentarily bewildered and uttered, "Am I really that outstanding?"

"Uncle-Master, you are in the game yet not of it; you don’t see your own excellence. In your disciple’s eyes, you radiate with noble brilliance. The choice of the Taoist Ancestor was indeed wise."

Hao Tian modestly countered with a laugh, "Haha~ Nephew, that’s too much, what you’re saying is too much. I’m not that outstanding!"

"Uncle-Master, what do you think of Di Jun Taiyi?"

"A towering hero! Admirable."

"While they ruled over the Demon Court, they oppressed the Primordial Heaven and Earth, those who obeyed them prospered, those who defied them perished, bringing countless wars and slaughter to the Primordial World, but failed to contribute anything to it.

Uncle-Master, to hail them as towering heroes is certainly not a mistake, but they are not qualified Emperors. Only Uncle-Master, with a heart devoted entirely to thinking of the Primordial World, serving all beings, and bringing order to Heaven and Earth embodies the ideals befitting the truly right Emperor of the Primordial Heavenly Court’s Emperor of Great Virtue."

Hao Tian stood up straight, and with a self-deprecating laugh, said, "Having you say that, I begin to feel quite remarkable myself, a fitting Unquestionable Choice for Heavenly Emperor, an Emperor of Great Virtue indeed. This shall be my goal to strive for henceforth."

Bai Jin said joyfully, "Congratulations, Uncle-Master, for finding your direction. Now, what you need to do is convey your thoughts to the outside world, let all beings of the Primordial World see a completely different Primordial Heavenly Emperor, and naturally, immortals and gods will come to seek allegiance."
