Chapter 88: Chapter 88 Have a child with Jin’an Chapter 88: Chapter 88 Have a child with Jin’an “Miss An, if you don’t speak up, how can I help you?”

An Kexin refused to get up, so Qiao En let go of her hand. She took a step back, keeping her distance from An Kexin.

An Kexin was adept at acting, conjuring scenarios as she pleased. Qiao En was overwhelmed, unable to keep up with every fabrication.

“Secretary Qiao, Jin’an is about to be driven out of Nanchen. You know how important Nanchen is to him. He has worked so hard and given his all to earn his current position. If he is forced to leave Nanchen, I’m afraid he…”

As An Kexin spoke, her voice broke into sobs.

Waves of shock surged through Qiao En’s heart; what she feared most was happening.

Zhou Zhendong had three sons; the eldest, Zhou Jin’an, was born to him and Mrs. Zhou, while the second son, Zhou Ziyan, and the third son, Zhou Yucheng, were born to him and Yao Chuman.

Over twenty years ago, Mrs. Zhou was driven out of the Zhou family and divorced Zhou Zhendong.

With the mother’s status affecting the child’s, Zhou Jin’an naturally became the least favored among Zhou Zhendong’s three sons.

Perhaps due to this lack of affection, he became the most diligent.

As an adult, he joined Nanchen, starting from the lowest sales position and worked his way up to Marketing Director. Three years ago, when Zhou Zhendong stepped down, it was Zhou Jin’an who turned the tide and revitalized Nanchen.

Zhou Ziyan and Zhou Yucheng grew up in a life of ease, never having to strive for anything, descending into prodigal sons, much to everyone’s expectations.

Zhou Ziyan was only three years younger than Zhou Jin’an. Zhou Zhendong once had high hopes for him, even personally bringing him into the company to teach him. But Zhou Ziyan couldn’t endure hardships and settled for a nominal position without responsibilities.

As for Zhou Yucheng, he had no interest in business, set on pursuing his dream of being a director, wandering the world with Zhou Zhendong’s money. Throughout Zhou Zhendong’s passing, he never showed up.

That Yao Chuman’s two sons were disappointing didn’t mean she had no desire to fight for her children. Rumor had it that Zhou Zhendong’s departure was so sudden he hadn’t even made a will.

In truth, whether there was a will or not, Zhou Jin’an would not benefit.

All of this, Qiao En knew.

What she hadn’t expected was that Yao Chuman would go to such lengths to force Zhou Jin’an out of Nanchen.

“Secretary Qiao, I know you have an extraordinary relationship with Jin’an. I shouldn’t have… should not have taken him away from you. I promise you, as long as Jin’an keeps his position at Nanchen, I will leave him and let you have him. Secretary Qiao, please, I beg you, could you help him?”

Crawling on her knees, An Kexin moved closer to Qiao En and grabbed her wrist again, lowering herself as much as possible.

“What do you want me to do to help him?”

Qiao En stood there, her mind in turmoil.

Tears streamed down An Kexin’s delicate face, against the current.

“Secretary Qiao, would you have a child with Jin’an? With a child, Jin’an wouldn’t have to leave Nanchen. Director Zhou left a will, stating that whichever son has the first grandson will become the CEO of Nanchen.”

An Kexin’s words took Qiao En by surprise.

She stared at An Kexin in disbelief, as if she didn’t recognize her.

“Miss An, you are Director Zhou’s fiancée; having a child is something you should discuss with Director Zhou. I can’t help you with that.”

Qiao En pried An Kexin’s hands off and turned to leave.

Getting up, An Kexin hurried after her, blocking Qiao En’s path with a posture of extreme humble supplication.

“Secretary Qiao, you know Jin’an doesn’t love me. If he doesn’t love me, how will he agree to have a child with me? But it’s different with you; he cares about you. If you’re willing, I’m sure Jin’an would also want to have yours. Secretary Qiao, if you have this child, Jin’an won’t have to leave Nanchen.”

Enchanted as if by a spell, An Kexin babbled non-stop, trying to persuade Qiao En to agree.

Qiao En’s mind was a mess, as if it were clogged with paste. She couldn’t believe that An Kexin was being irrational.

“Miss An, why would you do this?”

“I just love Jin’an too much, Secretary Qiao. Please believe me, I am doing this for Jin’an’s sake. You love him too, don’t you? So, let’s work together with one heart and one mind, just this once, alright? If you just bear his child, I’ll have the second brother intervene, and Jin’an will surely overcome this difficulty.”

Work together with one heart and one mind?

Qiao En was even more shocked to hear these words.

She had always been seen as An Kexin’s imagined enemy; how could she suddenly want to form an alliance with her?

Two women team up to fight a battle in defense of Zhou Jin’an?

Such a tactic is simply unimaginable.

“Secretary Qiao, you wouldn’t want to see An Ge end up with nothing, would you? With Director Zhou gone and Mrs. Zhou’s life hanging in the balance, he’s so alone and helpless. It’s truly pitiable. Secretary Qiao, since we both love him, can’t you put aside your personal biases and help him just this once, please? As long as you’re willing to help him, I’ll agree to any conditions you set, alright?”

An Kexin was gripping Qiao En’s forearm tightly, her fingers digging in. Qiao En, in pain, pushed her away.

An Kexin had gone mad.

Only a madwoman could speak such words.

“Miss An, please leave.”

Qiao En turned her back and went straight to the stairwell.

A fine, dense sweat broke out on her back.

Did An Kexin know about the child in her belly? So, she was calculating her schemes basing on that child?

At the elevator, just as Qiao En stepped in, An Kexin’s voice followed her again.

“Secretary Qiao, please think it over, alright? An Ge can’t be without Nanchen.”

Qiao En went upstairs, and another message from An Kexin came through.

“Secretary Qiao, I’m begging you, please agree to my request.”

Qiao En was extremely annoyed and shut off her phone right away.

“Enya, what’s the matter with you?”

As soon as Qiao En entered the room, her mother, sensing something off, followed her in.

Her mother’s concern was also a heavy burden for Qiao En.

“Mom, I’m fine. I have an appointment to discuss some business with friends, I’m heading out first.”

Qiao En grabbed her purse and went out again.

By the time she got downstairs, An Kexin had already left.

As Qiao En walked towards the entrance of the complex, she unexpectedly ran into Zhou Jin’an.

He was dressed in black, his face weary, and he was hurrying toward her.

Qiao En kept her head down as she walked, not noticing him, and nearly collided with him.

“Mr. Zhou, what brings you here?”

Qiao En asked in surprise.

Zhou Jin’an’s eyes were deep as he reached out to steady her shoulders. “You turned off your phone, I thought something happened to you.”

She wasn’t in the habit of turning off her phone. When she was Zhou Jin’an’s assistant, her phone was on 24 hours a day. After her father and Qiao De had an incident, she dared even less to switch it off.

“Forgot to turn it on.”

Qiao En found an excuse and took out her phone in front of Zhou Jin’an.

Just as the phone turned on, the WeChat messages from An Kexin kept popping up.

As it happened, Zhou Jin’an caught a glimpse of An Kexin’s flickering profile picture.

“What does she want from you?”

Zhou Jin’an asked suspiciously.

Qiao En, frustrated by An Kexin’s bothersome behavior, simply handed the phone over to Zhou Jin’an.

“See for yourself.”
