Chapter 84 - 84 84 You Have To Take Responsibility After
Chapter 84: Chapter 84: You Have To Take Responsibility After Sleeping With Me Chapter 84: Chapter 84: You Have To Take Responsibility After Sleeping With Me That day, Qiao En did not go to the hospital again; she returned to Chengnan Apartment early.
Drowsiness hit her like a tidal wave.
However, she was startled awake in the middle of her sleep by a loud knocking at the door.
“Bang, bang, bang!”
One knock followed another, each louder than the last.
Qiao En shuffled in her slippers from the bedroom, and it was already dark, not a single light on in the house.
She turned on the light, and as she went to open the door, the person outside fell through, sliding and tumbling inside.
“Ding Hao?”
Qiao En was surprised.
Ding Hao was drunk to the point of stupor; he lay on the ground, reeking of alcohol.
“En’en, you finally opened the door.”
He slurred his speech, reaching out to embrace Qiao En.
Qiao En immediately stepped back to maintain a safe distance from Ding Hao.
“Where do you live? I’ll contact your family to take you home.”
Ding Hao lay on the floor, motionless, just staring at Qiao En with a silly grin.
“I won’t go anywhere; I just want to be with you. Tell me, in what way am I not as good as him? Why can’t you like me?”
He was drunk and babbling nonsense.
Qiao En was at a loss, not knowing how to deal with Ding Hao.
To throw him out would be too cruel; to let him in and share a room too dangerous.
Qiao En thought for a moment and made a decision.
“Ding Hao, you’re drunk. I’m going to the hospital; you rest here.”
She walked past Ding Hao and headed outside.
Ding Hao pointed at Qiao En’s retreating figure, his eyes hazy, and he muttered under his breath.
“I treat you so well; why don’t you like me? Do you understand Zhou Jin’an? Do you think he truly loves you? I’ll tell you, Qiao En, you’re just someone else’s stand-in, he doesn’t love you, the person he loves is… not you at all…”
Ding Hao’s words pierced Qiao En’s heart like a dagger.
Not being loved was the ultimate disgrace.
And this humiliation had been given to her by Zhou Jin’an.
Qiao En went downstairs and sat on a bench in the community.
She had looked at that photo carefully.
At first glance, she and that woman indeed looked exactly the same, but on closer inspection, one could still find differences between the two.
Qiao En had double eyelids, while Su Nian had single eyelids.
Qiao En rarely laughed openly, but the Su Nian in the photo was all smiles, with eyes curved like crescents.
Perhaps only someone who is truly loved can smile so brilliantly?
And she was just a stand-in; what did that count for?
In the middle of the night, Zhou Jin’an called her.
The familiar number flashed on the screen; Qiao En neither hung up nor answered.
She still loved him, but she realized she somewhat did not recognize him anymore.
She didn’t answer, and Zhou Jin’an didn’t call again.
Qiao En just sat there, all the way until dawn.
Early the next morning.
Qiao En returned to the apartment, the door was ajar, unlocked.
She pushed open the door and entered, and sounds of pots and pans clinking came from the kitchen.
“En’en, come wash your hands quickly, I’ve made breakfast, and it’s almost ready.”
Ding Hao poked half his head out of the kitchen, his drunkenness gone.
Qiao En noticed the pajamas Ding Hao was wearing, which she had bought for Zhou Jin’an before.
He had only worn it once, after which she had washed it and stored it in the drawer.
Qiao En strode to the bedroom, the drawer was open, and the bed was in disarray.
A wave of nameless rage surged up within Qiao En.
“Ding Hao, please leave my home now.”
She grabbed Ding Hao’s dirty clothes and threw them toward the doorway, her face clouded with displeasure.
Ding Hao had just finished making breakfast. He’d cooked porridge, fried eggs, and grilled the last two sausages from Qiao En’s fridge, even arranging them on her western-style plate to form a smiley face.
“En’en, what’s wrong? Why are you so angry?”
Ding Hao was utterly bewildered as he put down what he was doing and walked towards Qiao En, attempting to embrace her without hesitation.
“Please leave right now.”
Qiao En was furious, pointing towards the door as she issued a clear order for Ding Hao to leave.
“What’s the matter? When you woke up this morning, everything was fine, so how did you become a completely different person after stepping out? Didn’t you say you wanted to eat the breakfast I made? I did as you asked, so why are you showing me such attitude as soon as you return? En’en, where did I go wrong? Tell me, I’ll change!”
Ding Hao’s handsome face was the picture of innocence.
But Qiao En was completely confused.
She clearly hadn’t been at home last night, and she certainly hadn’t asked Ding Hao to make breakfast. What in the world was going on?
“En’en, don’t be angry, okay? Didn’t you say last night that you would start living well with me, and we’d go get our marriage certificate after breakfast? Don’t worry, you’ve given yourself to me, and I will definitely take responsibility for you.”
“Ding Hao! Stop!”
Qiao En shouted at him sternly.
She was full of horror; the information Ding Hao was providing was too much, and she was struggling to keep up.
“Last night, I was with you?”
“En’en, you can’t just sleep with someone and then deny it,” Ding Hao complained coyly.
“I said I wanted to get a marriage certificate with you?”
“Yeah, you were the one who brought it up, saying you wanted to be real husband and wife. En’en, I didn’t expect that your usual coldness towards me was just an act; turns out you do have feelings for me.”
Qiao En asked, Ding Hao answered.
She hadn’t finished asking, and he was already moving closer, trying to nestle his head against Qiao En’s shoulder.
Qiao En pushed him away without the slightest courtesy.
Ding Hao staggered and nearly fell.
“En’en, are you trying to murder your own husband!”
Qiao En stared at Ding Hao with fierce intensity. Was he lying, or had some woman impersonated her and slept with Ding Hao?
“The person who spent the night with you wasn’t me.”
Qiao En declared righteously.
If Ding Hao wasn’t lying, what exactly did that woman want to do?
Qiao En didn’t know her motive, but one thing was clear to her: she absolutely could not fall into the trap this woman had set for her.
“En’en, what’s going on? If the person who slept with me last night wasn’t you, then who was it?”
Ding Hao looked at Qiao En with suspicion.
But she didn’t wish to explain any further and turned to run out.
Hospital.
When Qiao En arrived at Qiao De’s hospital room.
Qiao De screamed excitedly.
“Sis, how did you know I’ve always wanted to see Jay Chou’s concert live?”
He proudly waved the tickets in his hand.
This was the first time in her hospital stays that Qiao En had seen Qiao De so happy.
She took the concert ticket from Qiao De’s hand in surprise.
It was the most expensive infield ticket, the kind Qiao En would never indulge in buying.
“Where did the ticket come from?”
Qiao En asked suspiciously.
“Sis, have you forgotten? You gave it to me in an envelope last night, telling me to open it only after you left, saying it was a birthday surprise for me. Sis, this gift is really, really amazing, I absolutely love it!”
Qiao De joyously kissed the ticket over and over again.
Qiao En’s complexion turned stark white in an instant.
Truthfully, she had no idea that Qiao De’s idol was Jay Chou.
Even if she had known, given her current financial situation, she wouldn’t have bought such an expensive infield ticket for Qiao De.
Yet someone had done this in her name.
But why? What was her motive?
“Sis, what’s wrong? Why do you look so pale?”
Qiao De asked in surprise.
