"Is there a stele here?"
After leaving the temple, the group spotted a stele at the rear exit, its inscriptions recounting certain events. Only then did they realize that they had entered through the back, and this was the actual main entrance.
"In pursuit of the primordial, I severed demonic thoughts and created the Demonic Fetus Detachment Curse. Alas, the demon seed was not destroyed and would become a calamity, thus I had to eternalize it here with the holy monks’ relics. If future generations arrive at this tower, do not touch."
No one knows how many years have passed, yet these words were still clear, emitting a faint golden glow as though they had been etched with fingers. Mere inscriptions possessing such spirituality that the stele could nearly serve as magical treasures, indicating the terrifying extent of the inscriber’s cultivation path.
"These are not characters from the Upper Realm," declared Venerable Azure Dragon first. "The one who suppressed the demon seed here was a mighty being from the Mortal Realm."
There are also many artifacts within Shenxu inscribed with writing, all cryptic Tian Dao Inscriptions. It’s natural to conclude that these, written in Mortal Realm’s script, did not simply fall from the skies.
"Primordial..." murmured Daoist Yan.
The Dao of Chaos wielded by Southern Sea Ancestor Wu Chao symbolized the ultimate darkness, of immense power, corresponding to the ultimate light of the primordial.
"Just a severed demon seed possessing such formidable cultivation path; what level of cultivation did that mighty being have back then?" Cai Yi’s eyes shimmered, "Could it be a godly being from the Ninth Realm?"
"It seems like a godly being from Buddhism. Could it be a Buddha from the Mortal Realm?" Chu Liang also pondered, "Why is there no record of it in the mortal world?"
After all, a godly being from the Ninth Realm, once present in the Mortal Realm, would not leave without a trace. Even a reclusive ancient Ninth Realm being like the Southern Jiang Witch God had snippets of stories passed down.
And the sacred beings of the Human Clan have been passed down from generation to generation; the earliest Saint Li is remembered by people, and it would be impossible for later entities to be undocumented.
"Is it possible that the region of his activities was not the Four Seas and Nine States?" Cai Yi suggested, "Isn’t there a legend that Buddhism’s legacy came from lands beyond the Far West? Ancestors of the Demonic Clan once explored in that direction, finding nothing but a vast ocean. Could it be that another continent existed there which brought forth cultivators like those of Buddhism, which later vanished due to some disaster..."
Listening to her speculation, everyone felt it was highly likely.
In Ancient Years, there had indeed been divine beings, but the methods of communication weren’t as convenient as now, nor was the population as large, which resulted in less information flow between regions. Brief mentions in ancient texts might talk about places beyond the Far West, yet hardly anyone had seen such a world; most people guessed it was probably a secret realm.
Now it seemed, it could also have been a continent that vanished.
Once, there existed a Buddhist divine being from the land beyond the Far West, but for some reason left behind no trace. This was where his severed demon seed was suppressed with great mystical power. Choosing this location, perhaps, was due to its isolation from the populace, minimizing the risk of the demon seed being unleashed.
Still, there was a critical issue.
That was, his entrance direction into Shenxu from the lands beyond the Far West was... completely opposite to that of the Four Seas and Nine States!
He might have set up some formations and prohibitions, but they would not be difficult for the armies of the Immortal Sects who had made it this far to breach.
Therefore...
The team from the Nine Heavens and Ten Lands only might have seen the stele he erected after taking the relics from the tower... Those who escaped from here back then probably didn’t have the mind to look carefully.
Ironically, these minor changes led to the near-total annihilation of the strong cultivators from various Immortal Sects.
However, Chu Liang then thought that the methods of this nameless ancient Buddha sounded somewhat similar to the Underworld King Sect Master – one used light to sever the demon seed; the other employed the Underworld to sever the body of goodness. Could there be a connection between the two?
By now, of course, this detail was no longer important.
Even if the nameless ancient Buddha was from the Ninth Realm, his severed demon seed could not possibly have the cultivation of a divine being. With Daoist Yan capable of summoning a divine weapon at any moment, they did not fear any existence without a divine weapon.
Below the Ninth Realm, divine weapons are invincible.
...
Moving further ahead and navigating through the mist for a while, Cai Yi’s gaze gradually brightened.
"We are very close now," she hurried forward, waving her hand to dispel the mist in front of her. Instead of pavilions and towers, a vast sky pit stretched out before their eyes.
The hole seemed limitless at first glance, endlessly deep and almost devoid of light. Divine Sense probed into it, as if swallowed by the darkness.
Could it be a bottomless pit?
"Are we going down?" Venerable Azure Dragon asked.
"Yes," Cai Yi said without hesitation, her eyes firmly on the abyss below. "I can feel it—that’s the Spirituality I gave, right below us!"
The group exchanged a look and nodded at each other.
Since they had come this far, even if the pit truly were bottomless, they had to explore its depths.
There was no point in leaving someone to keep watch. Such a huge sky pit couldn’t possibly be entirely covered up. If danger arose, they were better off sticking together—their combined strength would prevail over any threat.
They quickly settled on a plan. Venerable Azure Dragon manifested his dragon form, and the three of them mounted, clinging to the dragon scales as they flew downwards together. This way, the toughest of them was at the bottom, ready to take on any danger that might come first.
Venerable Azure Dragon had no complaints about this arrangement.
The moment he took charge of the Taiyi Avenur, he should have realized his destiny as a dragon—to take hits was his fate.
How could he be hurt without taking hits, how could he heal without being hurt, and why would he take charge of the Avenur if not to heal?
The Azure Dragon’s form was agile. Though he wasn’t using his full strength, the speed of their downward dive was still extremely fast, and Chu Liang felt the roar of the wind piercing his ears. They had been falling for a while when he started to feel that something was off.
With this speed, why hadn’t they reached the bottom yet?
Could it be that they were going to pass straight through to the other side of the world?
Just as he was about to don the Red Demonic Helmet and try using his Divine Sense to probe further, suddenly, an ominous wind rose beside his ear.
"Hold onto Venerable Azure Dragon tightly," Daoist Yan’s voice, full of a sense of security, rang out beside him. "We’ll handle this."
Looking up, he saw a dark cloud pressing down from above, within which lurked two demonic shadows rising with murderous Sha, their presence immensely formidable.
Daoist Yan and Cai Yi both looked up simultaneously; Cai Yi shot a rainbow light into the dark mist, immediately cutting off all perception within it. Daoist Yan swung his hand, and the Xiaoyun Ancient Sword’s Qi surged toward the Milky Way!
Boom—
There was a violent explosion within the dark mist, and instantly two dark shadows burst out as though unaffected by the blast.
Whoosh, whoosh!
The shadows landed on the back of the Azure Dragon, one of them right in front of Chu Liang.
He clearly saw the face of the newcomer—an ominous countenance that was unmistakably the Penglai Elder Cang Qiu. But now his eyes shone with a black light and his body was enveloped in Sha, making him resemble the demonic bodies outside the tower.
The difference was that those demonic bodies were still just remnants; even powered by the remains of Spirituality, their combat abilities were limited. But Elder Cang Qiu was a powerful living being, in control of a vast array of Divine Skills. Now he was even more terrifying!
His target was clear: he was coming straight for Chu Liang. It was apparent that, despite some loss of sanity, his hatred for Chu Liang ran deep. Purple lightning sprang from the sky, transformed into a Divine Weapon, and aimed directly for Chu Liang’s face!
Chu Liang’s only response was a plea: "Venerable Azure Dragon, save me!"
"Roar—" A dragon’s roar sounded, and the figure beneath them rose in a flash, revealing its human form, and shouted loudly, "Come at me if you dare!"
