Chapter 949: Chapter 41 Where is My Knife? [Two in One]_2
"They have passed another barrier; let us follow," Daoist Cang Yun rose to his feet, "any further and we might lose them."
His Sishun Avenue specialized in a power to capture the wind and shadow, enabling him to perceive across thousands of miles without anyone being aware. Otherwise, such spying between powers of the Eighth Realm would certainly be detected.
Daoist Master Sishun could capture scents and information from the passing wind. There were no fluctuations of True Qi in Chu Liang’s party, which enabled him to remain undetected.
"Can’t we go around?" Elder Cang Qiu, sitting on the ground and visibly shaken, asked, "What if we make a mistake again?"
"The pavilions and towers of Thousand Buildings Valley are countless; no matter how much you detour, you will encounter barriers. And if you don’t enter the towers, from where will you get the Secret Treasure? They are paving the way for us, providing a method to emulate. When we reach a new place, do you know how to pass the barrier?" Daoist Cang Yun countered.
"But what you’re emulating isn’t correct either," Elder Cang Qiu complained, seeming somewhat resentful.
"That’s because we didn’t time it right previously; we were unaware," Daoist Cang Yun looking ahead, declared, "This time we will do exactly as the Fox Demon did, there will be no mistake."
Elder Cang Qiu struggled briefly before standing up, his voice fierce, "Once we get the Immortal Tower Secret Treasure, I will definitely ascend Shu Mountain and reduce that Chu Liang scoundrel to dust and ashes!"
It seemed he blamed all his resentment on Chu Liang.
The two advanced through the mist and indeed saw the lights of taverns; in the main hall, the stout chef stood staring vacantly at a big bone, creating an eerie yet comical scene.
A throng of servants rushed out, their words ushering Cang Yun and Cang Qiu into the inn, serving varied dishes, "Please enjoy your meal, noble immortals."
The two did not move; they couldn’t possibly eat any of the dishes here.
Shortly after, the chef stopped his movements, his eyes suddenly fierce as he stared at them, "Why aren’t you eating? Do you think my food isn’t tasty?"
Daoist Cang Yun mimicked the Fox Spirit, counter-asked loudly, "What food is there here?"
"Isn’t that it on the table?" the chef asked menacingly.
"Humph, I don’t see anything?" Daoist Cang Yun imitating the shrill tone of the Fox Spirit, asked, "Isn’t there nothing here?"
"Nothing here?" the chef seemed puzzled, "Then I’ll make another portion..."
As he said this, he was about to swing his knife to chop meat, but as he lifted his hand, he suddenly paused, "Wait... where is my knife?"
"Hm?" Daoist Cang Yun was about to follow the procedure, when he suddenly heard something he hadn’t caught before and was taken aback, "What?"
"Where is my knife?" The chef’s eyes turned blood red, his hefty body emanating a terrifying Sha, "Did you steal my knife?!"
"What?" Elder Cang Qiu flipped over, "What are you supposed to say at this time?"
"How would I know what to say?" Daoist Cang Yun also quickly rose and flew out, "If you must say something, I suggest we run immediately!"
But escaping was easier said than done; the chef leaped up, turning into a vast sea of fire clouds, quickly attacking them.
Having just been through a fierce battle, Elder Cang Qiu was already quite exhausted; rage now flared within him as he raised his hand, condensing Purple Thunder and Dark Lightning into a bow and an arrow.
"Die!" he roared, releasing the arrow!
Whoosh—
The Purple Lightning Meteor, instantly breaking through the air, carrying a mighty force.
Boom!
The arrow plunged into the fiery cloud that reformed into human shape; the Purple Lightning turned arrow was now grasped in his palm, crackling with electricity.
Daoist Cang Yun rode in on a whirlwind, attempting to strike the chef away with a palm, but unexpectedly the chef was as immovable as Mount Tai, only slightly trembling before retaliating with a blast of flames.
"Whoosh—"
This blast of fire scorched Daoist Cang Yun severely, burning off half his clothes, and he fell to the ground with a cry.
Seeing an opportunity, Elder Cang Qiu, accompanied by thunder, launched a palm strike.
The chef returned with a flaming palm; the raw power was slightly less than Elder Cang Qiu’s, but with a crack, the chef’s right wrist snapped off.
"Ahh—" he screamed in pain, "My hand!"
Elder Cang Qiu, surprised at his opponent’s brittle bones, formed a Purple Electricity Long Spear and immediately stabbed it into the chef’s chest!
"Roar—" the chef roared in anger, his body fluctuating between a living man and skeletal remains amidst the lightning, ultimately turning entirely into a charred corpse.
Thud.
After calming a breath of True Qi, Elder Cang Qiu disabled his abilities and threw the charred body to the ground. Looking around, he found himself in a pitch-black Ghost Cave, with Daoist Cang Yun lying on the ground, his life and death unknown.
He approached, not bending down but simply raising his foot, kicked viciously, then asked irritably, "Useless thing, are you dead?"
...
"Join the Heavenly Martial Sect, practice the Great Divine Power!"
"Join the Heavenly Martial Sect, practice the Great Divine Power!"
"..."
This was a training ground encircled by seven or eight buildings, with fierce beasts running and weapons shimmering like forest. A group of burly men, shirtless, wielding Divine Weapons, shouted loudly.
A man in complete iron armor rode a Silver Dragon, gazing distantly at the approaching Chu Liang and his party, loudly declared, "Are the comers here to join the Heavenly Martial Sect as Immortals?"
"We are merely passing by," Chu Liang replied.
