Chapter 242: Chapter 34 He Said It’s Okay [Request for Monthly Votes!]_1
Three or four?
That was the question.
Chu Liang couldn’t afford to glance again to his right. For some beings, continuous gaze could be perceived as well.
His brain was racing.
Slow to talk about, but fast to act. From the moment he discovered the strange shadow to now, it was but a breath of time. He had already made a judgement.
He suddenly shouted, "Watch out!"
He lifted his hand and emitted a blue light in front of him!
Swoosh-
Flying Leaf Sharp Knife!
When it comes to sudden attacks, this move is Chu Liang’s first choice. His lifted hand was clearly pointing forwards, but the blue light flashed and landed on the wall behind Monk Pu Shan!
Its trajectory was completely unpredictable.
Not to mention humans, even ghosts would have a hard time.
Chi-
A blue curved knife suddenly embedded itself in the wall of the fourth shadow, making a crisp sound like a tearing cloth.
This was the outcome Chu Liang had thought of—the shadow’s left side was non-existent, while its right side existed, indicating it was not a reflection, but actually on the wall!
"Ah—" A furious scream came from the wall, as if in pain, and the shadow disappeared into it again.
At this time, Luo Yao and Monk Pu Shan naturally noticed.
They were not to be trifled with either.
Though the situation sprang up suddenly, upon noticing the anomaly, Monk Pu Shan, who was the closest, unleashed a powerful attack.
He flipped his hand, pushing a white jade palm print some three feet high, and slammed it against the wall, causing the black wall to crack and shatter!
But this strike seemed to have missed, for the shadow had already disappeared.
It seemed unnoticed by them; a strange dragon-headed figure suddenly emerged from beneath Luo Yao’s feet, as if lying flat on the ground.
The dragon head had a human body and was dressed in ancient-style robes.
Clearly identical to the dead body of the Dragon Attendant!
As the silhouette emerged, it suddenly reached out and grabbed Luo Yao’s ankle! It looked as though it wanted to pull her down into the ground!
Thud.
But when it grabbed hold of Luo Yao, it was caught by another hand in return.
As it turned out, Luo Yao had already opened the red paper umbrella.
Among the three people present, only she specialized in controlling ghosts, and only she could sense the trajectory of this ghost’s actions.
Her specialty was an advantage.
Luo Yao had already predicted its actions and used herself as bait to lure it. At the same time, she opened the red umbrella.
In an instant, the entire space was filled with a solemn and bloodthirsty atmosphere.
"Hehe..." An extremely cold laughter sounded.
A short ghost boy bent his back, his tiny palm held the wrist of the Dragon Ghost Attendant. His mouth held a malicious smile.
The Dragon Ghost Attendant seemed to feel fear and, in a flash, tried to disappear again.
But the ghost boy stood up strongly and pulled hard!
Thud!
He actually pulled the Ghost of the Dragon Attendant out of the ground!
Chu Liang’s eyebrows twitched.
He had seen Luo Yao’s small ghost boy before and knew it was fierce. But he didn’t expect it to be more vicious than before now.
This Dragon Ghost Attendant had been here for an unknown period time, ancient and powerful. Yet, in the hands of the ghost boy, it was treated like a toy!
The ghost boy grabbed the Dragon Ghost Attendant with both hands, seemingly ready to tear it apart!
"Don’t kill it yet!" Chu Liang suddenly called out.
Luo Yao immediately followed suit, shouting, "Stop!"
The ghost boy’s arms, ready to exert force, froze. The smile on his face faded away, apparently he was unhappy. But he obediently looked at Luo Yao, waiting for her instructions.
The reason Chu Liang stopped the ghost boy was because he felt that the Dragon Attendant Ghost didn’t seem to harbor much ill-intent.
Before he attacked, it had followed them for a while, but never attacked the trio.
Looking at the Dragon Attendant Ghost in the palm of the small ghost boy, he asked out loud, "Are you a guardian here?"
The Dragon Attendant Ghost looked at him, its eyes filled with complex emotions. Finally, it let out a soft roar, "Roar..."
A dragon’s roar.
Sometimes, a sound could contain vast information. These information decipherable only by Chu Liang automatically emerged in his mind.
"He said that...he serves under the Black Dragon, and willingly sacrificed his life and soul to guard the dragon ball of the Black Dragon forever. Unless a Dragonkin enters, he will relentlessly pursue anyone else." Chu Liang relayed the translated information to the others.
"It’s a technique of life sacrifice." Luo Yao immediately commented.
This was a bizarre ritual from the ancient times, which often appeared in tombs.
For this dragon attendant, if he wished to guard the Black Dragon’s tomb, he might only be able to do so for a few hundred years. When his lifespan ended, he would no longer be able to continue. But if he sacrificed himself with the technique of life sacrifice, his Godly Soul could retain its complete consciousness and guard this place forever.
Big tombs from ancient times sometimes would have tomb guardians passed down, and sometimes they would have this kind of life sacrifice technique.
Chu Liang asked again, "So can I go in?"
"Roar, roar..." The Dragon Ghost Attendants let out a series of low growls.
Chu Liang immediately perceived new information.
"You have the true Dragon Blood; naturally, you can enter. This is where the great Black Dragon housed his Dragon Ball. He hoped to pass his Dragon Ball to a new Dragonkin, to restore the glory of the Dragon Race. After you inherit the Black Dragon’s Dragon Ball, remember his final entrustment... the Dragon Race must never approach the Divine Burial Land!"
Chu Liang pondered for a moment.
A Dragon Ball is the true source of power for a real dragon. It is the greatest treasure that a true dragon can leave behind after its demise. They usually choose to leave their Dragon Ball to their descendants or same race, to pass on their power.
It was unknown under what circumstances this Black dragon died, and even failed to deliver his dragon bead in time.
As for his entrustment.
What is the Divine Burial Land? The legendary Shenxu?
What kind of allure does it possess that even an existence like the Black Dragon fears it to such extent?
Seeing Chu Liang’s silence, Monk Pu Shan curiously asked, "What did he say this time?"
Chu Liang answered, "He said you can."
...
Is it that in the language of the Dragon Race, the more words spoken, the less meaning expressed?
Monk Pu Shan began to question it in his mind.
So, would a person like him be considered tight-lipped in the Dragon Race?
After Chu Liang brushed him off with a quick remark, he had Luo Yao release the Dragon Ghost Attendants, and the three of them continued onwards.
But as they were walking, Chu Liang sensed something was off again.
Something was happening within the White Pagoda space.
He sunk a portion of his Divine Sense into the White Pagoda’s space and saw a fluttering gold light!
The scattered remnants of golden cocoons lay all over the ground. It seemed like the Silkworm Babies had finished their metamorphosis. The gold light in mid-air darted towards him affectionately as soon as it spotted him.
Chu Liang held out his hand and a golden butterfly landed in his palm.
The intricate patterns on its body were not really similar to those of ordinary butterflies. Its body still faintly resembled the Maggot Baby it used to be. Soft, glowing with a combination of white and gold lights, and adorned with a few large golden wings.
It really had transformed from a cocoon into a butterfly!
However, this golden butterfly seemed very restless, circling incessantly around Chu Liang’s palm, causing him to feel its anxiety.
It wanted to get out.
Remembering its prior treasure-seeking instinct, Chu Liang wondered if it could sense the presence of treasure.
He was reluctant to let the golden butterfly out, but as he hesitated, the butterfly became increasingly agitated, flitting around, creating quite a commotion. If kept inside the White Pagoda space, it might cause damage given its destructive power.
Everything inside was Chu Liang’s precious possessions. The two Big Head Babies that had been engaged in dual cultivation all night were absolutely indispensable.
Thus, Chu Liang had no choice but to bring it out.
Immediately, a golden light shot out from Chu Liang’s palm. Monk Pu Shan asked, "What’s that?"
"It’s my Spirit Pet. It can seek treasures and lead us to them." Chu Liang replied, then added after a pause: "Stick close."
If you don’t keep up, finding treasure does not equate to claiming the treasure.
The three followed the golden light at top speed for a while. After a bit, they once again arrived in a wide-open space.
This space was enormous, with a pitch-black dome that stretched as far as the eye could see. And right in front of them stood the towering Coiling Dragon Pillar.
This was a style of architecture greatly favored by the Dragon Race. For those in dragon form, these Coiling Dragon Pillars functioned like their thrones.
This must be the main hall of the Black Dragon.
Upon glancing up, they found the golden light heading unwaveringly towards the very top of the Coiling Dragon Pillar. Chu Liang immediately followed!
When they reached the top of the Coiling Dragon Pillar, they noticed an additional stone pedestal waist-high to them. On top of this pedestal was a square stone box carved with the figure of the Black Dragon.
Could the Dragon Ball be inside this?
Chu Liang examined his surroundings. The stone box had no apparent opening and seemed impossible to pry open. When he attempted to take the entire box away, he realized that it was embedded in the Coiling Dragon Pillar. Some great force was holding it in place; it simply could not be removed.
How to take it then?
After the golden butterfly flew up to the Coiling Dragon Pillar, it suddenly disappeared. Was its target not this stone box?
As Chu Liang was pondering, he heard shouts from the entrance of the main hall, mixed with the occasional cry of the Dragon Ghost Attendants.
The three of them were instantly alerted.
"The people from the Demon Sect have caught up!"
